Hospital Volunteer Centre
Have a pet "stuck" in a Hospital shift? According to a Community Ambassador, TNT is aware of the issue and working on a permanent fix, but in the meantime you should submit a
support ticket to get it resolved.
Starting at 10:00 AM NST on July 8, 2024, Neopians were able to send their pet off to volunteer for a shift at the NeoHospital.
Starting a Shift
On the Volunteering page, you may select one of your Neopets to help out with the war effort for a given task. There is no stat requirement to do so. This works like the Grave Danger daily, in that your Neopet is pledged to help at the hospital for 6 hours, and you are rewarded when they return.
Any Neopet you assign to a volunteer shift will be fed while they are there, coming out with a hunger status of Bloated as soon as the shift begins. If you participate in the daily Quest Log activity, avoid using your main feeding pet to volunteer since they may not be able to be fed for some time after.
You can participate in Battledome fights at the same time, but not with the same Neopet—avoid using your main battle pet to volunteer!
At launch, pets can participate in Battle for Brightvale I.
Start by clicking the 'Join Shift' button.
Select any eligible pet. Any pet that is already currently volunteering for a task will appear with the badge icon on their image.
Any Neopet currently suffering from a disease will be have a yellow heart icon and is ineligible to volunteer until they're cured.
Select one of your pets and then click 'Join Volunteer Team'.
Returning to the page will show you how much longer until the shift is complete.
You may have different pets simultaneously volunteering for different shifts, provided you have enough eligible pets.
Any pet that is currently volunteering will be unable to leave your account while doing so. This includes abandoning, one-way transferring and user-to-user exchange transferring. If you attempt to abandon or transfer a pet who is currently volunteering, the following will appear:
Error: Your Neopet is currently Volunteering in the NeoHospital! You'll have to complete the shift or withdraw before [s/he] can leave your side.
As the message states, you'll need to wait until the pet completes the shift and collect the prize, or Cancel the shift for the pet before it can leave your account.
Time Reduction
Beginning on August 21, 2025, shift lengths were able to be reduced to 3 hours, down from 6 hours. Active Premium subscribers automatically benefit from this perk—all shifts begin with 3 hours remaining. All other users are given the option to watch a short ad to reduce their shift length by 3 hours. The ad can be watched at any point during the shift by selecting the "skip time" button.
The Shifts
Beginning on July 10, 2024, pets could additionally participate in Battle for Brightvale II.
This isn't going to get confusing at all...
Pets could help tend the wounded from the Clash Over Kiko Lake skirmishes beginning on August 28, 2024, for a total of 3 slots.
As the grey curse spread into Neopia Central, the Neopia Central Skirmish I slot became available on September 9, 2024, for a 4th pet. As it quickly continued, Neopia Central Skirmish II was additionally available as of September 11, 2024, as the 5th slot.
After a long hiatus, the plot returned on August 4, 2025, with the debut of the Lost Desert Duel as the 6th slot, the first available in Act III.
On September 1, 2025, with the release of Altador Assault I, the ability to engage all 7 slots necessitated an active Premium subscription or paid NC pet slots.
The 8th slot, Fend off Vira, was released on September 15, 2025, as part of Chapter 11.
The 9th slot, Altador Assault II, was released on April 28, 2026, as part of Chapter 12.
The 10th slot, Endure the Malevolent Being's Barrage, was released on May 5, 2026, as part of Chapter 13.
The 11th slot, Other Worldly Nether Tendril Boss Fight, was released on May 12, 2026, as part of Chapter 14.
The 12th slot, Fight for Faerieland, was released on May 19, 2026, as part of Chapter 15.
The 13th slot, Defeat Drakara, was released on May 26, 2026, as part of Chapter 16.
The 14th slot, Vanquish Vocivus Raid, was released on June 2, 2026 as part of Chapter 17.
Prizes
Six hours—or three if a Premium member or after watching an ad—after starting a given shift, you can return to the hospital and claim your prize.
Once you have claimed your prize, you may immediately send a Neopet off on another shift.
As of Act IV on April 28, 2026, you can complete all finished hospital shifts simultaneously using the new "Collect All Prizes" button at the top of the page.
As of Act III, users with an active Premium subscription or who are using a Plot Prize Fortune Cookie will receive double prizes for each shift. You will receive 2 of the same prize, not 2 different prizes. These perks cannot stack, meaning you cannot combine them to receive 4 prizes.
Plot Points
Act I & II
For each shift completed in Acts I and II, you received +20 plot points, for a maximum of +200 plot points per day.
Act III & IV
For each shift completed in Act III, you received +60 plot points until midday September 10, 2025, and +40 plots points after then. Shifts in Act IV also granted +40 plot points.
Unlike the earlier acts, in Act III & IV, there was no daily cap for points awarded from volunteering. You could volunteer as many times as you liked, up to the cap of 3,000 points per chapter from all activities combined during chapters 8 and 9, and up to the cap of 4,000 points per chapter since chapter 10 (or up to 7,000 points if using Chapter Meter Energy Booster(s)).

As of Act III on August 4, 2025, you'll receive the following avatar after completing 72 cumulative volunteer hours—this totals 12 regular length shifts (6 hours long) or 24 reduced-time shifts (3 hours long). Prior to this it required 78 hours of volunteering:
Devoted Caretaker / Guide
Awarded to users who completed at least 72 cumulative hours of volunteer shifts at the NeoHospital during The Void Within plot.

Acts I & II
For a few hours after release on July 10, 2024, the avatar only required 60 hours of volunteering (10 shifts). From July 11, 2024 through August 20, 2025, the avatar was awarded after 78 hours of volunteering (13 shifts) whenever the plot was active. All shifts were 6 hours in length during this time period.

Oddly, the Leaded Elemental Vial was seemingly removed from the Act I "Prize Preview" pop-up on the NeoHospital page around 7:30 AM NST on July 30, 2024. TNT has not issued any statements about this change, but as of September 16, 2024, no more Leaded Elemental Vials have been awarded since the removal.
