With today's news update, the User Lookup Spotlight has had its last winner announced, and has officially been canceled.

This change is one of the first noticeable changes that TNT Adler is implementing across the different creative spotlights on Neopets. In last week's Neopian Times, the Ask Adler section indicated that more contests are on the chopping block or at risk of being scaled back.

Specifically, changes to the Poetry Contest and Storytelling Contest are also on their way. It is unknown which other contests/spotlights will be canceled.

TNT has said that you can submit your thoughts on the upcoming changes to the new Ask Adler section of the Neopian Times by submitting an editorial question:

The latest update for the Neopets Companion App has added Terror Mountain's scratchcards!

The "Wheels" button in the bottom navigation bar is now a "Dailies" button. Tapping this will open a small menu where you can select the wheels or scratchcards landing page.


Once you make your way into the Happy Valley kiosk, you can scratch a card in your inventory or purchase a new one for the standard 600NP price. Note that the update notes in the App Store reference an old location of the kiosk:

"Grab a scratchcard and head to the Ice Caves."

Then, instead of tapping on a space, you physically scratch each one to reveal its prize icon. Once you're done, you can return to the kiosk landing page to purchase or scratch another card. Note that the app follows the same opening and closing hours as the on-site kiosk.



According to the App Store summary, this update also includes some behind-the-scenes improvements to performance, as well as some squashing of bugs.

A new avatar is available by playing Sakhmet Solitaire II! To get it, you must submit an eligible score, currently thought to be 2,000 points. It will show up on the score submission box, so you'll know when you receive it.

As of writing, we've confirmed 2,029 points and higher works, and 1,990 points does not work. Let us know what score you receive it with!


You can also play Sakhmet Solitaire II in the Neopets Companion app to get the avatar. However note that the app does not yet display the "you are now eligible..." message, but you'll still receive the avatar!

Today, the donation portion of the ongoing event in Tales of Dacardia has begun.

There is a short introductory quest to repaint the town plaza and begin the event. BEWARE! This event's paint roller has an identical icon and plaza appearance as last year's Valentines event. Make sure to use the one that appears later/lower in the grid of rollers if you participated last year.


The mechanics of the event are unchanged from similar previous ones. There are also a selection of Neopets.com prizes available from the event's prize shop themed for either Valentine's Day or a species with a February pet day, and four automatic prizes for hitting donation thresholds.


This Donation Dome will last from today through February 28. There is a login calendar ongoing in the same timeframe as well.

The Sakhmet Soiree event ended at midnight last night, and prizes have already been distributed today as promised.

For most players, this means the participation prizes: a participation trophy, an avatar, and a toy item. All of these are awarded automatically but without notification, so check your user lookup/NeoBoard preferences/inventory to see them!
