Curse on Maraqua: Remastered
  • Posted by Dave

Continuing onward in our quest to preserve old Neopets storylines, we are excited to announce the next event series that we've remastered: Curse on Maraqua!

Now you might be thinking... where's Isca? And Garin? Curse on Maraqua is the prequel to the Curse of Maraqua plot most of you may be familiar with. This story takes place in 2001, a little over a year after Maraqua opened to Neopians. We find that an evil pirate captain pays a visit to Maraqua one day... and the next... well, you'll just have to watch to find out!

For more information on Flash retiring (and how to re-enable it in your web browser), see our End of Flash Support guide.

And stay tuned for our next remastered story line coming in a few weeks... it will be a little chilly!

I see your converting rate is going "swimmingly!"

Thank you for your efforts to preserve Neopia's history!

Wow, I forgot about this one... Thanks guys!
It doesn't appear correctly on my iPhone though... the "circle effect" cuts off some of the words...

@starryfaerie: Which circle affect are you referring to?
starryfaerie, July 6, 2020 12:52 AM NST
There's a circle that appears around the text/images of each frame, a bit like a border. It seems like the words/images are meant to appear within the circle but it's not aligned properly so as a result the words at the edge are cut off. This only seems to happen on mobile and not on Desktop.

On Desktop I see a full square with text for every frame so no words are cut off.

The other difference I noticed is that on Desktop, only the first 2 frames have the special comic font ("Curse on Maraqua/Some Chapters have Sound", "An Evil Pirate Captain has just been spotted in Maraqua...". The rest of the text appears in regular font.

On mobile (I use an iPhone), all the text for every frame appears in the comic font.

Hope you get what I mean. I am not sure how else to describe it...

@starryfaerie: Ah, it sounds like your phone is using cached assets. I'll see about trying to force an update next time! (The desktop version you see is how it should look. Your iPhone is likely showing styling from before we updated.) Sorry about this!

I hope one day they do something with Captain Dread (and maybe have an in-world explanation how Scarblade ended up destroying Maraqua instead of Dread). I have a full plot idea/story that goes into it (though it wouldn't seem so at first).

Oh my gosh, how are you putting these out so fast? I don't want you guys burning out your team!
Also, a little off-topic for this post, but it doesn't seem like there's a forum or general chat for JN: Do you think you'll have an Island Builders Guide out soon?

@pikachu315111 - PLEASE write it! Be brilliant!

Ah, thanks for explaining. Good to know what was causing the differences in what I saw! Hopefully you can push an update to resolve this in future

What IS that first image above? Can NOT make heads or tails of it.
