The Void Within Plot Guide

This morning, a short video for the upcoming next episode of The Void Within has been posted to the official Neopets YouTube channel (as well as other social media):

The video shows begins by showing the protagonists where we left them in the Haunted Woods before the hiatus. A medley of disparate potential plot elements are then presented one by one.


As a reminder, TNT announced in the July monthly update that the plot will be returning tomorrow (Monday, August 4th), a date that is reaffirmed in the trailer video's description. In our interview with TNT Dom at SDCC 2025, Dom shared that TNT has made some changes to the plot to make it "easier and less grinding" to enable players "to experience the plot at their own pace." You can get a peek of some of these changes on the recently updated official TVW FAQ.

Today, Neopets have announced a new contest that will be launching with The Void Within plot when it returns—this time a Guild battle focused on the Battledome!


Starting August 8th, 4 days after the plot restarts on August 4th, and lasting until August 31st, Guilds will be able to compete against each other for the chance to win some re-released prizes (no exclusives or plot points, if you are worried about missing out).

Each week within the contest, the top 20 Guilds and the top 20 individual accounts will be listed on the new features page on Neopets.com. At the end of the contest, the top 3 individual accounts will be awarded a prize, and the top 3 guilds will have prizes awarded to the top players in that Guild.

Note: The article is currently a little contradictory in terms of how many people within a Guild will get the prizes. At some points it says the top 50% of Guild members, and at other points it says the top 50. It is unclear which is correct at present.

If you are not part of a Guild, you are able to sign up as an individual. Guild owners need not be the ones to sign up on behalf of a Guild. Either way, if you are signing up you must do so before the contest begins on August 8th.

The contest will be using Battledome score to judge who wins. This is recorded in your Battledome Record page and is even public so you can search up the competition if you like. Battledome score is generally calculated based on the remaining hit points you have at the end of a battle, so the better you perform, the higher your score will be.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Battledome Record page will only display a user's most recent 500 battles. It is unclear if TNT have access to further records, but until this is clarified users should plan accordingly and be aware that earlier higher scores may be bumped off the record page by later low ones.


The article also announces a couple of new paid features for the plot when it returns. There will be an NC Mall item which allows you to automatically claim a day's Void Essences, and an NC cookie which allows you to claim double prizes. While the article claims that this will be for a second prize in the prize shop, the associated FAQ states that it will be a second prize from activities like plot comics, minigames, and the like. It is unclear if the FAQ is wrong, or the article.

The article also reveals that, while there will be less grind as TNT Dom revealed in recent interview with Jellyneo, the base mechanics of the plot have not changed and we can expect to return to doing the same daily activities when the plot resumes.


Finally, on a somewhat different topic, the article closes by revealing that there is an extra pet slot in the works, as many users have been asking for!

TNT has posted a lengthy update on a wide variety of topics over on the main portal site. This is a continuation of this style of update, which started in May as a replacement for the monthly AMAs, which ended in January.

Community Q&A
Some of the responses were quite detailed, so we encourage you to read them in full. We'll summarize the ones with new information here:

Why weren't drop rates for capsules published alongside the NC Mall revamp? TNT states that they are still working to document accurate drop rates, then can display them at some point in Q3. A pity system will not be implemented due to the significant technical effort that would be required to update the NC Mall to support it.

When is TVW coming back? The Void Within will return on Monday, August 4, 2025.

What actionable steps do you plan to take to address transphobia in Neopets? TNT shares a four point plan to build on their April announcement: (1) reviewing and updating moderation policies, (2) clearer community chat guidelines, (3) retraining the moderation team and ensuring consistent enforcement, and (4) gathering community feedback on potential rule updates.

In-Person Events
TNT has (re)confirmed a few upcoming in-person events.

1. Neopets will attend San Diego Comic-Con 2025 for the full weekend, including an offsite meetup.
2. This coming August, Neopets will once again have a collaboration with tsun scoops in Garden Grove, CA. (You can read our recap of their original winter 2024 collab here!)
3. From September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, Neopets will be featured among other iconic games in the ACMI Game Worlds exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.

Today's New Features update brings an update about the state of the Void Within plot. Previously, TNT has said that the plot would be returning around Q1 of 2025, which ends at the end of this month.

Due to the time spent on Quest Log adjustments and new Premium perks, that timeline is now delayed. The only promise now is the plot returning "within the coming months".

TNT appeared to have accidentally updated the Void Within Battle page today, with an additional opponent being listed despite the plot still being on hiatus until some point in the next month and a half.


The new opponent, The Wretched Wisp, appears to be a Void version of a Pant Devil. Although listed on the page, the plot remains on hiatus and the actual opponent is not available to battle.
