The Void Within Plot Guide

Neopets have posted an article announcing a new survey today. This one asks questions about the plot, types of content you'd like to see prioritised, merch, and the NC Mall.


If you complete the survey, and enter your Neopets username as part of it, you'll be eligible to win a 'mystery Neopoint prize' to be distributed at some point in the future. You'll also be entered into a draw to win one of ten Magical Rainbow Aisha Plushies.


UPDATE: In their August 2025 monthly update, TNT has announced this survey "will close on September 12, 2025." So we recommend getting it done before end of day on the 11th!

Today, pages 11 through 25 of chapter 9 have been made available under the Story tab. Reading the comics will grant you an additional +15 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

After reading page 13, a puzzle will reveal itself. Your job is to figure out which land each item corresponds to. (But we have a solution on our story prizes page, if you'd prefer.) Solving the puzzle will grant you +10 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

After reading page 20, another puzzle will reveal itself. For this Fallen Phrase style puzzle, you must choose a letter from beneath the grid to fill in each column and form a phrase that is a direction for the needed action. A single word must be entered into the box as the puzzle answer. (But we have a solution on our story prizes page, if you'd prefer.) Solving the puzzle will grant you +10 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

Certain incorrect guesses for the second puzzle will unlock the Locked Out achievement. You can find which qualify on our achievements guide. This can still be unlocked after you correctly solve the puzzle.

In these 15 story pages, 3 additional hidden notes have been found which can be clicked on as any of the 7 needed for the Perceptive Paleographer achievement.


Of course, volunteering and battling remain as available chapter tasks for you to fill out your 3,000 points.

Today, Chapter 9 has officially released! This means you now have another 3,000 plot points you can earn over the next two weeks. Pages 1 through 10 of chapter 9 have been made available under the Story tab. Reading the comics will grant you an additional +10 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

After reading page 3, a puzzle will reveal itself. Your job is to figure out the cryptogram. (But we have a solution on our story prizes page, if you'd prefer.) Solving the puzzle will grant you +10 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

After reading page 8, another puzzle will reveal itself. You must choose the letters that represent the colour that would result from mixing the four pairs of paint splotches in the image. The leftmost pair of splotches corresponds to the top letter, and so on. (But we have a solution on our story prizes page, if you'd prefer.) Solving the puzzle will grant you +10 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

In those 10 story pages, if you find and click on 7 hidden pieces of paper, you'll also receive the achievement, Perceptive Paleographer. (Guide coming soon.)

Of course, volunteering and battling remain as available chapter tasks for you to fill out your 3,000 points.

Lastly, Lost in the Dark has returned as a daily (make sure you get that achievement!), and Doglefetch remains playable. Both can be played to earn prizes daily, but neither game earns plot points just for playing daily anymore.

Today, page 26 of chapter 8 has been made available under the Story tab. Reading the dialogue will grant you an additional +1 plot point (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum).

Many Neopians are reporting issues accessing this page this morning. If you are, try playing a game of Doglefetch first, which some have reported fixes things for them. (But we're not sure why.)

As a reminder, the two week run for Chapter 8 is coming to a close on Sunday. We are working under the assumption based on the FAQ that Chapter 9 will open—along with a new 3,000 points available to earn—on Monday, August 18th. However, since this is the first chapter switch in this new era of the plot, we will see come Monday what actually happens! Make sure you complete your battles and hospital shifts ASAP if you're still wanting to reach 3,000 points for Chapter 8.

Today, pages 15 through 25 of chapter 8 have been made available under the Story tab. Reading the comics will grant you an additional +11 plot points (if you're below the 3,000 point chapter maximum), and opens access to a new mini game: Doglefetch.


This game is a cross between Ultimate Bullseye and Bouncy Supreme, in that you need to play a game of fetch with Luperus! You play as Styx the Doglefox, and you must adjust the angle and speed to throw a stick to Luperus and hit the green circle as best you can.

For playing, you'll receive +10 plot points (if you're below the chapter maximum), an item prize, and a trophy for your lookup.


The game also awards a new avatar—which is not granted based on game performance, but rather if you click Luperus' middle head after he catches one of the thrown sticks:
