Pet Slots

Additional pet slots were first introduced as a Premium perk in June of 2012, with members receiving one additional slot at that time. In late December of 2021, the Premium slots were increased from one to four, alongside the release of purchasable pet slots in the NC Mall.

Here is the current breakdown of pet slots available for all Neopians:

You may currently have up to 23 Neopets on your main account and 17 per side account:

All accounts start with 6 pet slots.
All accounts may purchase +11 pet slots from the NC Mall.
Active Premium subscribers receive +6 pet slots as a perk.
As of July 22, 2025, you may purchase Premium subscriptions for each of your sides, netting +6 slots per side, up to +24 across all 4 sides. (Albeit very expensively, thus we do not count them in our totals.)

Pet slots limits were last upped on November 26, 2025.

Cancelling Premium

If you cancel Premium, you'll retain the extra pet slots until your membership expires. After that, you will be forced to "idle" or deactivate up to 4 of your Neopets. For more information on this process, see the "Losing the Extra Pet Slots" in the Cancellation section of the guide.
