Cancelling Premium
In an ideal world, we'd all have enough money to pay for Premium indefinitely. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. If you've decided you want to end your time as a Premium Member, you'll need to go here. You'll be asked why you wish to cancel; this is for the company's records, and will not have a bearing on your account.
You will be able to continue using your Premium services until your active subscription period ends. After that, you'll return to being a normal Neopets player, and no longer be able to get or use any Premium perks.
Any Neopoints and items that were earned while having Premium remain on your account, with the exception of Space Faerie Scratchards and the Space Faerie Charm on your userlookup. If you are actively using the Space Faerie site theme when your Premium inactivates, it will continue to show up. If you change your site theme at any time, you will be unable to access it again without re-subscribing to Premium.
If you quit Premium and then re-subscribe at a later date, any perks that you've previously gained, such as your Premium Neodeck cards, will automatically reappear.
Pet Slots
Once your membership time comes to an end, the next time you visit Neopets, you will be asked how to handle your extra Neopet(s), if you have any. You will be forced to choose among which among them are to be sent to an "idle" state. You will not be able to do anything on the site until you make this decision.
Are you being asked to choose idle pets even though you purchased additional pet slots? Don't worry! Immediately after selecting idle pet(s), you can bring them back right away. This is normal, not a glitch, and can be done without a ticket or support from TNT. The site treats "Premium" pet slots differently than "purchased" pet slots from the Mall, so this extra step is required. See the below sections for how to do this.
There is no known limit to how long pets can remain idle on your account; it is likely they can remain idle indefinitely. In the past, pets would be sent to the Pound if Premium was not renewed within 90 days. This no longer occurs since the introduction of purchasable pet slots on December 20, 2021.

Selecting Idle Pets
When attempting to view any page on Neopets, you will be forced to choose a specific number of your pets to go idle. To select them, simply click on their image, then press the green "Save This Order" button.
In very rare cases, if a member of TNT support cancels a Premium membership for you, then random Neopets will be chosen to be idle for you. You only get to select the pets if the Premium membership expires after you cancel it yourself.
Interacting with Idle Pets
Idle pets cannot be viewed or interacted with on most places on the site, but can be seen with slightly faded images on the home page. From here, you can choose to transfer the idle pet to another account or send it to the pound. Additionally, if an idle pet has wearables, Battledome equipment, or an attached petpet, you can remove those here as well.

It is not possible to exchange an idle pet for a pet on any other account.
When viewing the lookup of an idle pet, the page will display the below error that "This Neopet is currently taking a vacation..." instead of the usual lookup details.
Restoring Idle Pets
If you had fewer than 16 pets when your Premium ended, you can re-activate your idle pets without having to renew Premium by purchasing additional pet slots through the NC Mall or the interaction prompt for an idle pet on the home page.
After purchasing extra pet slots through the NC Mall, or freeing up a pet slot in another way (such as pounding or transferring a pet), you will be presented with an option to "bring home" an idle pet when interacting with them on the home page.
