[siːændpiː] - adjective
A Beauty Contest entry that has been created by altering and/or recolouring official Neopets artwork. (This is allowed; it's entering other users' work that is against the rules.) "C&P" stands for "Copy and Paste".
Example Usage:
"My Tuskaninny's only competing against a few C&P entries. This should be a breeze!"

CE
[siːjiː] - noun
Abbreviation for "Cursed Elixir". A Battledome item that heals pets a little by draining the opponent's Hit Points.
Example Usage:
"For your money, I think you're better off training your pet's defence than you are buying something like a CE."

CGer
['siː'dʒiːəɹ] - noun
Abbreviation of "Cookie Grabber". A special type of script, hidden in a webpage, that tricks your computer into sending its "cookies", or stored website data, to an outside source. Web pages with cookie grabbers are often set up by malicious users who want to be able to access others' accounts, and are frequently disguised as giveaways or pages of "secrets".
Example Usage:
"My friend's account was stolen by a CGer, but TNT froze it for protection so nothing went missing."

Chain Letter
[tʃɛɪn 'lɛtɜː] - noun
A message that claims it will bring good luck to anyone who posts it on the Neoboards or sends it to a Neofriend. These do not work, and never have done; posting them is a form of spam, and against the rules.
Example Usage:
"My nephew got into trouble for copying and pasting chain letters all over the Neoboards."

Charter

A Neoboard open only to players who have subscribed to Neopets Premium for more than three months.
Example Usage:
"I have a few good Neofriends that I met on Charter."

Chocolate Ball
['tʃɒkələt bɔːl] - noun
An annual day devoted to celebrating chocolate, when new chocolate-themed items and pets are often released. Although the Neopedia describes the Chocolate Ball as a high-society party, so far there has been no actual event that players can attend.
Example Usage:
"I wonder if they'll create any new Chocolate Neopet designs to celebrate the Chocolate Ball this year?"

['klɪkəbəl] - noun
An avatar or other special achievement that can be gained simply by visiting a particular part of the site.
Example Usage:
"There's a whole list of clickables and generally easy-to-get avatars on her petpage."

Cookie
['kʊkiː] - noun
A piece of data stored on your computer that enables the site to remember details such as when you logged in and with what username and password.
(There is or was also a member of the Neopets Team named Cookie, who is unconnected to this definition.)
Example Usage:
"If you delete the cookies on your computer, you'll be logged out of Neopets and have to log in again."

Cookie Grabber

['kɒpə] - noun
An American real-world law, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, that deals with what sort of information younger users can and can't share online. This law is the reason why Neopets places so many restrictions on young players that don't apply to anyone else.
Example Usage:
"No, under-13s aren't allowed to edit their userlookups without parental permission. It's a COPPA thing."

[siːkjuː] - noun
Abbreviation for "Country Queen", the name of the Neopets Team member who was previously in charge of answering the Neopian Times editorial before relinquishing duties to Scrappy.
Example Usage:
"Hi, CQ! Can you settle an argument and tell us what species the Petpet in last week's caption contest is supposed to be?"

[siːɛs] - noun
Abbreviation for "Clawed Shield". A defence item for the Battledome, originally a reward for buying real-life Neopets trading cards.
Example Usage:
"I think a CS would be good against the weapons I've seen her using."

CSS
[siːɛsɛs] - noun
Short for 'Cascading Style Sheets'. A web language that, when used alongside HTML, allows you to customise and enhance user-editable areas of the site. These include lookups, user shops and petpages.
Example Usage:
"I'd like my page to look something like yours, but I'm not that experienced with CSS. Can you help me?"

Customise
['kʌstəmaɪz] - verb
To dress up a Neopet with clothing, accessories, backgrounds, and so forth.
Example Usage:
"I like to customise my Neopets differently in summer from the way I do during winter. It doesn't make sense for them to be wearing scarves!"

Darigan
['dærɪgæn] - adjective, noun
(1) A colour Neopets and Petpets can be painted, inspired by the spiky-looking pets native to the Darigan Citadel in Meridell. Darigan pets tend to be dark colours, such as purple, deep blue and crimson, and to have prominent claws or spikes.
(2) From, about, or belonging to the Darigan Citadel.
(3) The Darigan Citadel as a Neopian land.
Example Usage:
(1) "My Buzz is going to be painted Darigan soon!"
(2) "Darigan toys are always rather scary-looking."
(3) "Darigan declared war on Meridell in Year Six, under the leadership of Lord Kass."

[dɪ'fɛns] - noun
One of a Neopet's Battledome stats. A measure of how well-protected a pet is from damage caused by the opponent.
Example Usage:
"My Usul got knocked out before he could even land two hits! I think I should have worked on his Defence a bit more."

DFM
['diːɛfɛm] - adjective
Abbreviation for the phrase "down for maintenance". Although individual games and features can and do get taken down, this phrase is most often used to refer to times when the entire Neopets site is offline and being fixed. The message "Neopets is Down For Maintenance" appears during such times, along with an image of a red Pteri.
Example Usage:
"Wow, I can't believe the site was DFM for two hours! I've been so bored!"

Directory
[daɪ'ɹɛktəriː] - noun
A list of links to Neopets (or sometimes pages) of a certain type.
Example Usage:
"I noticed you have a vegetable Chia! Not that many people do. I'm making a directory of vegetable Chias -- would you like me to include your pet?"

Disown
[dɪs'oʊn] - verb
To leave a pet at the Neopian Pound, Neopia Central's shelter for ownerless pets. This is not the same as sending a pet to a specific new owner, which is also done at the Pound, but is called "transferring".
Example Usage:
"Look at the pet I just found in the Pound! Who would disown a cute little thing like this?!"

DoN
[diːoʊɛn] - noun
Abbreviation for "Defenders of Neopia". An organisation of brave costumed Neopets, who defeat villains around Neopia and protect civilians from danger. By extension, the Battledome challenges players are set that involve helping the Defenders out.
Example Usage:
"I heard there was a new DoN challenge announced in the news today. Wonder what the trophy for completing it looks like?"

Dung
['dʌŋ] - noun
An integral part of Neopian society. This rather smelly substance is used for all kinds of things, including furniture, weapons, petpets and even food items.
Example Usage:
"Have you seen Rosie's dung collection? She's a dedicated collector!"

Editorial
[ɛdɪ'tɔːriːəl] - noun
A section in the weekly newsletter The Neopian Times, where the Neopets Team answers a selection of questions put to them by fans.
Example Usage:
"I'm writing to the editorial to ask why you can't opt out of displaying your gender on the Neoboards."

[iːɛmɛs] - noun
Abbreviation of "Evil Things and Monster Sightings". A Neoboard originally designed for talk about the various villains of Neopia, but that has no clearly defined topic.
Example Usage:
"Some years ago, the Neopets Team tried to take down the EMS board. There was one heck of a protest and they had to put it back."

Equip
[ɪ'kwɪp] - verb
To give a Neopet a weapon to use in the Battledome. Weapons must be equipped to be used in fights; they do nothing in your inventory.
Example Usage:
"You can equip up to eight items per pet."

ETS
[iːtiːɛs] - adjective
Abbreviation of "easy to sell". An item that is generally in high demand, such as a codestone.
Example Usage:
"I'd prefer you to offer Neopoints on my trade, but I'm happy to take ETS items if that's easier."

Fake Login Page
[fɛɪk 'lɒgɪn pɛɪdʒ] - noun
A website that has been designed to look as much like Neopets as possible, in the hope that people will mistake it for the real thing and enter their usernames and passwords to try and log in. The usernames and passwords will then be sent to the owner of the site.
Example Usage:
"My best friend nearly fell for a fake login page! Good job I told him to double-check that he was on neopets.com before he logged in!"

[ɛfbiː] - noun
(1) Abbreviation for "Florbix Blaster". A futuristic-looking Battledome weapon.
(2) Abbreviation for the popular social networking site "Facebook".
Example Usage:
(1) "I remember starting off as a Battledomer years ago. I had a FB and I thought I was all that..."
(2) "I saw on Neopets' FB page that they're giving out a new Rare Item Code for free."

[ɛfsiː] - noun
1) Abbreviation of "Fan Clubs". A Neoboard where a lot of casual chatter goes on.
2) Abbreviation of "Food Club". A popular betting game based on the eating habits of various Krawk Island denizens.
3) Abbreviation of "Fortune Cookie". An item bought from the NC Mall which gives gifts or special bonuses when opened.
Example Usage:
(1) "There aren't any Neoboards in my language, so people who speak it tend to get together on a special thread we make every day on the FC."
(2) "What FC bets did you place today?"
(3) "I wish I had enough Neocash for another Faerie Quest FC."

FFQ
[ɛfɛfkjuː] - noun
Abbreviation of "Fountain Faerie Quest". A special type of quest, given out very rarely in Random Events. When completed, it allows you to change the colour of one of your Neopets.
Example Usage:
"Wow, I can't believe I got an FFQ! I'll have to think about what pet I want to paint!"

Flash
[flæʃ] - noun
The now defunct Adobe Flash Player browser plugin. Flash was a tool that let your computer run programs created with Adobe Flash. If you didn't have it, you weren't able to see several important things on Neopets, such as most games, plot comics, and newer maps of countries like Faerieland and the Haunted Woods. The plugin, and Flash on the web in general, was disabled in January 2021. Since then, TNT has been working on converting various Flash-based features to newer web technologies.
Example Usage:
"I just got a new computer. I'll have to reinstall Flash so I can go back to playing Freaky Factory!"
