here were invented by the Neopets Team; others were created by players and have stuck

Premium
['pɹiːmiːəm] - noun
A monthly or yearly donation made to the site that entitles the donor to a few special perks.
Example Usage:
"We're letting Premium members beta-test the new game first."

Purge
[pɜːdʒ] - verb, noun
(1) To permanently remove the accounts of users who have not logged in for a very long time (usually several years). New accounts with the same usernames can then be made by others.
(2) The process of deleting a number of these accounts.
Example Usage:
(1) "TNT purge inactive accounts every few years."
(2) "I actually had an account here when I was eight years old, but I forgot the password ages ago and it got deleted in the last purge."

Quick Ref
[kwɪk ɹɛf] - noun
The page that allows you to view all your Neopets, located at https://www.neopets.com/quickref.phtml. It also provides access to a few useful functions, like renaming Petpets and viewing Battledome Abilities.
Example Usage:
"I can't remember what my Grundo's stats are offhand. Let me just check Quick Ref."

Redraw
['ɹiːdɹɔː] - verb, noun
(1) To create a new version of the artwork for an existing feature, object or pet.
(2) A change to the artwork of an existing feature, object or pet.
Example Usage:
(1) "Frankly, I think the Gold Gelert needs to be redrawn. It looks like yellow dough."
(2) "The redraw of Faerieland after the Faeries' Ruin plot pleasantly surprised a lot of players."

Referral
[ɹɪ'fɜːɹəl] - noun
A link (often with an email invitation) that you can send to your friends or place on a web page to encourage others to sign up for Neopets. Prizes are given if your friends decide to register.
Example Usage:
"My aunt's looking for a way to unwind after work, so I sent her a Neopets referral. I wonder if she'll join?"

Release
[ɹɪ'liːs] - verb, noun
(1) To make an item available in the Neopian shops, having previously announced it in New Features.
(2) To make a Limited Edition species of pet temporarily available through the normal creation system. This generally happens on a pet's festival day.
(3) The occasion of a Limited Edition species being available through the normal creation system.
Example Usage:
(1) "Hasn't that new scarf for Nimmos been released yet? I'm dying to try one on my pet!"
(2) "I really hope they release Hissis for Hissi Day this year!"
(3) "How long has it been since the last Lutari release? Must be at least a year and a half."

Report
[rɪ'pɔːt] - verb
To alert the Neopets Team to something that shouldn't be happening on the site.
Example Usage:
"I don't think he should be swearing like that on the Neoboards. I should report it."

Reportable
[ɹɪ'pɔːtəbəl] - adjective
Something that breaks the rules and should be brought to the attention of the Neopets Team.
Example Usage:
"You do know talking about teenage pregnancy on the Neoboards is reportable, right?"

Revamp
['ɹiːvæmp] - verb, noun
(1) To overhaul a feature of the site -- either to fix problems, make it run more smoothly or just to improve the artwork.
(2) A large-scale change made to something on the site.
Example Usage:
(1) "The Wheel of Excitement was revamped in Year Twelve."
(2) "The revamp of the site navigation in Year Nine confused many Neopians at first."

Scammer
['skæmə] - noun
Someone who tries to trick others out of their account, Neopoints, or items.
Example Usage:
"This girl said she'd give me a million Neopoints if I told her my password! Of course, I reported her to the monitors as a scammer."

Screenie
['skɹiːniː] - noun
Abbreviation for "screenshot". An image someone has saved of an interesting or amusing event that happened on Neopets. Many people keep collections of screenies on their petpages.
Example Usage:
"I've had a bad day. Anyone got some funny screenies that'll make me laugh?"

Secretword
['siːkɹɪtwɜːd] - noun
A synonym for "password"-- the code that must be entered along with your username to log into Neopets.com. "Secretword" is a fan-made term created to get around the problem of Neopets' board filters blocking the word "password", no matter what context. Other workarounds for this include "fuzzword" and simply "word".
Example Usage:
"You're worried someone might be on your account? The first thing to do is change your secretword."

Self-Freeze
['sɛlf fɹiːz] - verb
To quit the site, locking one's own account by means of a special form. While this is sometimes referred to as deleting your account, in reality the account does not vanish, but remains on the servers unable to be logged into (although it may eventually be purged).
Example Usage:
"Did you hear about that famous Battledomer who just randomly got fed up with the site and self-froze? Apparently she sent her best friend a weapon worth 90mil before she went!"

Side Account
[saɪd ək'aʊnt] - noun
An account which is used to house more pets, an additional lab ray, an extra gallery, and so on. Side accounts are perfectly legal, but cannot participate in any activities that give out items or Neopoints.
Example Usage:
"I just couldn't decide whether I wanted a Jetsam or a Koi... So I made a side account, and now I have both!"

Sidebar
['saɪdbaː] - noun
(1) The panel that used to occupy the left-hand side of the site, where the quickref panel and Neofriends box now are. It contained links to the main functions of the site, much like the current top menu bar.
(2) A synonym for "unlockable site theme"; a change to the colourscheme of the site, only made available to those who have participated in a certain activity. A term mostly used by older players.
Example Usage:
(1) "I was looking through some old screenies from my newbie days and I found one that had the sidebar on the screen. How long ago must that have been?!"
(2) "No, don't bother sending me that Mysterious Valentine's Card. I unlocked the sidebar years ago."

Silenced
['saɪlɛnst] - verb
Blocked from communicating with other users anywhere on the site. This is a punishment the moderators can give for bad behaviour, usually related to something said by Neomail or on the Neoboards.
Example Usage:
"My account was silenced for 24 hours. I shouldn't have tried to get away with saying that word..."

Site Theme
[saɪt θiːm] - noun
The colourscheme of the Neopets site. By default, the main colours of the site are golden and black, with a pattern of stars. However, you can change your site theme here, making menus, backgrounds and links appear in different colours. There are also more elaborate site themes, made from patterns and images based on special events and holidays, which can be unlocked by participating in those events.
Older users may occasionally refer to a site theme as a sidebar.
Example Usage:
"Wow, I really love the new site theme! It makes everything look so different!"

Sponsor Area
['spɒnsəɹ 'ɛəɹiːə] - noun
A page created by a company which has paid real-world money to Neopets, Inc. so its content can appear on the site. While sponsor areas are contained within Neopets.com and often contain ways to gain items or Neopoints, they frequently feature items or characters that don't normally appear in the world of Neopia, and shouldn't be taken as canon.
Example Usage:
"Be sure to check out the new sponsor area. They're giving away free backgrounds!"

Sponsor Click
['spɒnsə klɪk] - noun
A link to an advert or promotion that will reward players who view it with a small amount of Neopoints, usually once per day.
Example Usage:
"Is it me, or are there far fewer sponsor clicks these days than there used to be?"

Staffer
['stæfə] - noun
A member of the Neopets Team.
Example Usage:
"Which staffer are you betting on in the Yooyuball tournament?"

Suspension
[sʌs'pɛnʃən] - noun
A punishment that can be handed out by the moderators for bad behaviour. A suspended user is unable to log in and use the site for a set period of time. Suspensions are generally given out for offences that are definitely against the rules of the site, but not serious enough to merit a frozen account.
Example Usage:
"I haven't seen that person who was spamming the boards yesterday. I wonder if she got a suspension?"

Suss
[sʌst] - verb
Abbreviation for "suspend". To lock a user out of the site for a set amount of time, as a punishment for bad behaviour.
Example Usage:
"You should have known starting a roleplay about vampires in love would get you sussed."

T&C
[tiːəndsiː] - noun
Abbreviation for "Terms and Conditions". The basic rules of Neopets and its sister sites, which every player is required to have read and agreed to. They can be found at https://www.neopets.com/terms.phtml.
Example Usage:
"No, you can't sell your account-- it says so in the T&C. If you want to quit Neo, you should use the Remove Account link."

Tarla Toolbar
['taːlæ 'tuːlbaː] - noun
A common name for the Neopets Toolbar browser add-on (available at toolbar.neopets.com; unfortunately nonfunctional in many browsers, including several versions of Firefox). Although the toolbar also provides quick access to many parts of the site and an incoming Neomail icon, it is best known for alerting players when Tarla is giving out prizes, hence the fan-made name.
Example Usage:
"Hey, they finally got the Tarla Toolbar to work in my browser! Neat!"

Ticket
['tɪkɪt] - noun
A question asked of Neopets.com's support team, to which any answers will be attached. You can view any tickets you have sent in by clicking Help at the foot of any page, then My Support.
Example Usage:
"Oh, hey, the support team answered my ticket today! Neat!"

TNT
[ti: en ti:] - noun
Abbreviation for "The Neopets Team". The Neopets Team oversee and run the Neopets site. This includes coding and planning new releases, such as plots, items and paint brush colours.
Example Usage:
"I love the new Eventide Draik. TNT did a great job!"

Unreleased
[ʌnɹɪ'liːst] - adjective
(1) Not yet announced to the public.
(2) Of an item: mentioned in New Features, but not actually available from any Neopian shop.
Example Usage:
(1) "Jellyneo's staff always seem to find unreleased news before anyone else!"
(2) "That cute skirt was first announced last October, but it's STILL unreleased. I think I'll send in a ticket about it."

User Lookup
['juːzəlʊkʌp] - noun
A player's profile on Neopets.com, showing their pets, shop, gallery, Neohome, any trophies or badges he or she has won, and a few important statistics. Some players like to add to their user lookups with text and graphics. Also sometimes seen as a single word "userlookup".
Example Usage:
"I'm trying out a new design for my user lookup. Will you tell me what you think?"

Username
['juːzənɛɪm] - noun
The name you use to log into the site, which is displayed at the top of every page. Unlike some websites, Neopets does not use your e-mail address as your username. Usernames can contain underscores, letters and numbers, but no spaces or punctuation marks.
Example Usage:
"I wish I'd picked a better username when I signed up. But telling the world I was a big Hannah Montana fan seemed important at the time..."

Viacom
['vaɪækɒm] - noun
A large media company that used to be Neopets' parent company. They are also responsible for popular TV brands such as MTV and Nickelodeon. However, since Year Sixteen, Neopets is no longer part of this group.
Example Usage:
"The previous owner of Neopets, Inc. sold the company to Viacom in 2005."
