Neorelated
['niːoʊɹɪlɛɪtəd] - adjective
Having to do with the Neopets site and its features. The opposite of off topic. All Neoboard posts should be Neorelated, although in practice there are too few moderators to enforce this completely or consistently.

Neotitle
['niːoʊtaɪtəl] - noun
A humorous self-description (picked from a list of presets) that appears underneath your avatar when you post on the Neoboards.

NR
[ɛnaː] - adjective
Abbreviation of "Neorelated". Having to do with the Neopets site and its features. The opposite of off-topic. All Neoboard posts should be Neorelated, although in practice there are too few moderators to enforce this completely or consistently.

NTY GLT
[ɛntiːwaɪ dʒiːɛltiː] - interjection
An abbreviation for "No, thank you; good luck trading" or "No, thank you; good luck, though". Used on the Neoboards when an owner has a Neopet (or, more rarely, an item) up for trade and someone makes an offer they are not interested in.
Example Usage:
"Owner 2: NTY, GLT! :)"

Off Topic
[ɒf 'tɒpɪk] - adjective
(1) In the wrong category of Neoboard. For instance, a thread about the Beauty Contest posted on the Trades and Auctions board.
(2) Not related to Neopets at all, and thus unsuitable for posting on the Neoboards.

OOC
[oʊoʊsiː] - adjective
Abbreviation of "Out of Character". If someone involved in a roleplaying thread needs to tell the other players something that isn't part of the story, he or she will speak OOC -- that is, as their normal self, rather than their pet or chosen character from the roleplay.

OP
[oʊpiː] - noun
Abbreviation of "Original Poster", meaning the person who started a topic on the Neoboards.

Packrat
['pækɹæt] - noun
The requirement for a particular secret avatar of the same name. Users need to collect 1,000 different items in their Safety Deposit Box.

Pen
[pɛn] - noun
Abbreviation for "Neoboard Pen". An item that can be bought with Neocash. Owning one allows a user to post longer messages on the Neoboards, and to easily switch between using different fonts and avatars.

Report-Happy
[ɹɪ'pɔːt 'hæpiː] - noun
A person who is very quick to inform the Neopets Team about anything that even looks as if it might be breaking a rule. Generally an insulting term.

Roleplay
['ɹoʊlplɛɪ] - verb
To interact with others while talking in the manner of another character or person (often one of your Neopets), and using textual "directions" to indicate what that character or person would be doing during the conversation. For instance:
Thyassa: *waves paws* Who wants to come and play Gormball?
Roleplaying is very popular, both as a pastime and a way of developing a pet's personality.

RP
[aːpiː] - verb, noun
(1) Abbreviation for "roleplay". To interact with others while talking in the manner of another character or person (often one of your Neopets), and using textual "directions" to indicate what that character or person would be doing during the conversation. For instance:
Hannah: *throws rope over her shoulder* Don't be such a baby, Armin! I'm sure there's treasure in this cave!
(2) A roleplaying session.

Abbreviation for "roleplayer". Someone who likes to interact with others while acting out the part of a pet or fictional character, speaking as that Neopian would speak and describing the actions they would take.

Secret Avatar
['siːkɹɪt 'ævətɑː] - noun
An icon used to represent yourself on the Neoboards, which players can only use upon completion of a certain task. Many such tasks cost a lot of Neopoints and/or time to complete-- the avatars gained from them are highly respected.

[ʃaʊt] - verb
To post in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS on the Neoboards. This is not good manners.

Abbreviation for "signature". The text that appears at the foot of every Neoboard post you make. It can be changed here.

Smiley
['smaɪliː ] - noun
(1) A small picture that can be inserted into text on the Neoboards to decorate a post or express the writer's feelings. Most smilies are images of facial expressions, but there are also small pictures of Neopets, items and Petpets available. Also known as an emote or emoticon.
(2) A species of fishlike Petpet with a happy-looking round face.

Snarky
[snaːkiː] - adjective
Sarcastic, mocking, sharp, tongue-in-cheek.
Not to be confused with the member of the Neopets Team known as Snarkie.

Spam
[spæm] - noun, verb
(1) Messages that serve no useful purpose and simply clutter the Neoboards. These include threads posted in the wrong topic area, messages about real-life issues, messages that are nothing but smilies, and the same message posted over and over again.
(2) To post such useless messages on the Neoboards.

Spammer
['spæmə] - noun
Someone who posts pointless, repetitive, and/or off-topic messages on the Neoboards, or floods another person's inbox with mail. This is against the rules.

Waiting Room
['wɛɪtɪŋ ɹuːm] - noun
A thread created on the Neoboards so that people can chat together while waiting for an announced event to start.
