for all those strange Neopian words that have been puzzling you. Some of the words
here were invented by the Neopets Team; others were created by players and have stuck

[niː'oʊpiːən] - adjective, noun
(1) Coming from, belonging to, or about the world of Neopia.
(2) A person or pet living in Neopia.
Example Usage:
(1) "Neopian festivals include pet days, the Winter Starlight Celebration, and the Shenkuu Lunar Festival."
(2) "Doctor Sloth wants to make Neopians into his slaves."

Neopian Standard Time
[niː'oʊpiːən 'stændɜːd taɪm] - noun
The single timezone in effect all over Neopia (nobody has yet figured out how this works). The time displayed in the top-right corner of your screen will always be in NST, not your local timezone.
Example Usage:
"I'm on GMT here in Britain. That's... let's see... eight hours ahead of Neopian Standard Time."

Neoschool
['niːoʊskuːl] - noun
An abandoned project that would have made greater use of the Intelligence stat and the School Supplies shop. Despite announcements about its arrival, the project was delayed again and again due to unspecified problems, and the Neopets Team eventually announced in an editorial that they had no plans to release it in the foreseeable future. Now most often used sarcastically, in a similar sense to "when pigs fly", to mean that something is never going to happen.
Example Usage:
"I'm sure they'll find a fix for that glitch about a month after Neoschool gets released."

NST
[ɛnɛstiː] - noun
Abbreviation of "Neopian Standard Time". The single timezone in effect all over Neopia (nobody has yet figured out how this works). The time displayed in the top-right corner of your screen will always be in NST, not your local timezone.
Example Usage:
"Let's have a guild meeting to talk about this! Everyone get online tomorrow at 7pm NST, okay?"

Abbreviation for "Neopian Times". Neopets.com's fortnightly fanwork newsletter, featuring articles, stories, serials and comics submitted by ordinary users.
Example Usage:
"My series was accepted to be published in the NT! I wonder if the first part will appear this week?"

Peo
noun
Either the Peo Petpet species, or a shortened name for the Peophin Neopet species.

Petaria
[pɛt'aːɹiːə] - noun
A world close to Neopia, thought to be the original home of many Petpet species. As yet unexplored by humans or Neopets. It was featured in the real-life video game, Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing.
Example Usage:
"During the Operation Petpet Park mini-plot, Petpets came through portals from the world of Petaria."

Polypup
['pɒliːpʌp] - noun
The name originally given to the Neopet now known as the Gelert.
Example Usage:
"Polypups were a lot chubbier-looking than today's Gelerts."

PPL
[piːpiːɛl] - noun
(1) The Petpet Protection League, an organisation working within Neopia to make sure Petpets are kept healthy and happy. They appear in several Flash games.
(2) The award given out weekly by this organisation to reward good Petpet owners. A different species of Petpet is selected each week, and Neopets who have owned one of the chosen species for a long time receive a Neopoint prize and sometimes a trophy.
Example Usage:
(1) "In the game Petpet Rescue, you play a brave member of the PPL exploring a gem mine."
(2) "My Wocky's Electric Alabriss won the PPL last week!"

Quest
[kwɛst] - noun, verb
(1) A task, either given to you in a Random Event or volunteered for at various places, where you find and purchase an item and take it back to the character who asked for it.
(2) To carry out such a task.
Example Usage:
(1) "I have to find a copy of 'Quiggle Quotes' for a quest. Will you look it up for me?"
(2) "It takes months of questing for Illusen if you want to be rewarded with the rare Honey Potion."

Rainbow Pool
['ɹɛɪnboʊ puːl] - noun
The place in Neopia where you can use a paint brush on your Neopet or Petpet, as well as previewing what colours are available for each species.
Example Usage:
"In celebration of Quiggle Day, Quiggles can now be painted Shadow at the Rainbow Pool!"

Snowie
['snoʊwiː] - noun
Abbreviation for "Snowager", the snakelike icy creature that guards a pile of treasure in the Ice Caves. When he falls asleep (a few times a day), you can try to steal one of his items.

"Snowie's fallen asleep! See if you can get a prize."

['tætsuː] - noun
An old name for the Neopet now known as the Eyrie.
Example Usage:
"The name 'Tatsu' came from a Japanese word for 'dragon', and with no beak, the Eyrie really did use to look like a dragon."

TDMBGPOP
[tiːdiːɛmbiːdʒiːpiːoʊpiː] - noun
Abbreviation for "The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity". An abandoned toy that dangles in a corner of Faerieland. Nobody knows why he's there, but those visiting him seem to have odd quirks of good luck.
Example Usage:
"I have TDMBGPOP on my list of daily activities. He gave me Neopoints three days in a row this week for visiting!"

The name that was originally given to the Neopet now known as the Acara.

Part of the native culture of Mystery Island.
Example Usage:

Timed Quest
[taɪmd kwɛst] - noun
A task you can volunteer for at various locations in Neopia where you are asked to hand in a specific item before a deadline passes. Unlike other types of quest, timed quests place no restrictions on using the Shop Wizard, and are never given out randomly.
Example Usage:
"I like doing timed quests because I can do them on my own, without having to ask someone to find the item for me."

Times

Shortened form of "Neopian Times". Neopets.com's fortnightly fanwork newsletter, featuring articles, stories, serials and comics submitted by ordinary users.
Example Usage:
"Would you take a look at my comic, please? I want to make sure there's no spelling mistakes before I send it to the Times."

Turmy
['tɜːmiː] - noun
Abbreviation for "Turmaculus", the oversized Petpet that sleeps most of the day in Meridell, and can occasionally give out prizes if awoken. He can, however, also EAT Petpets, so beware.

"Turmy's awake! Come and try your luck before he falls asleep again!"

Abbreviation for "Tuskaninny". One of the many species of Neopet available to own.

Uber Faerie

A powerful Faerie who controls and represents one of Neopia's six main elements: Light, Darkness, Fire, Air, Earth and Water.
Example Usage:
"The Faeries who assign you timed quests are the Uber Faeries of Neopia!"

Virtupets
['vɜːtjuːpɛts] - noun
(1) A company that provides many different services, with the aim of making money and doing research for the evil Dr. Sloth. Its products are known to include miniature Neopet figurines and electronic games.
(2) The space station that was built by Dr. Sloth as a base of operations, but liberated by the Space Faerie and her brave followers.
(3) The Altador Cup team based on the Space Station.
Example Usage:
(1) "Advert Attack tells the story of Dr. Sloth's efforts to make money through a Virtupets-brand video game."
(2) "Virtupets Neohome furniture tries to simulate the feel of the Space Station, wherever it's installed."
(3) "Are you supporting Virtupets again this year?"

Werelupe
['wɛəluːp] - noun
(1) A type of monster in Neopian legend: a very fierce, aggressive and brutal Lupe-like creature that walks on its hind legs and can be found in the darker parts of the Haunted Woods, howling at the moon.
(2) A commonly used term for a Lupe who has been painted with a Hallowe'en Paint Brush.
Example Usage:
(1) "A Werelupe Costume would make a good Hallowe'en gift."
(2) "Do you like the Werelupe I just adopted from the Pound?"

Abbreviation for "Xweetok". One of the many species of Neopet available to own.
Example Usage:
"My son just adopted the most beautiful Faerie Xwee!"

Zap
[zæp] - verb, noun
(1) To use the Secret Lab Ray on a Neopet.
(2) To change a pet's colour by means of the Lab Ray.
(3) The result obtained from a particular trip to the lab.
Example Usage:
(1) "I'm zapping my Uni at the moment. I hope she'll change colour!"
(2) "My Scorchio was zapped Robot this morning."
(3) "What was your zap today? I just got 'she doesn't change at all'."
