#NEOPETS Social Media Contest
If you've been sitting around for the past decade or so thinking "gosh, I wish TNT would bring back the Random Contest," your day has finally come! Enter, the #NEOPETS Contest— a fresh take on the random contests of yore, with a social media focus to match the digital age.
But don't worry if you're not social media savvy—this contest is open to all, regardless of whether or not you have or use any form of social media.
This is a brand new contest as of July 2026, so there's still quite a few unknowns. We will update this guide as we learn more about the submission process, contest cadence, and overall process in the coming months.
Publication Schedule
The #NEOPETS Contest was first announced on July 1, 2026, via a Neopets Portal blog post.
According to the post:
The #NEOPETS Contest will be a monthly contest, with a new theme and entry form opening at the beginning of each month. Winners will be contacted privately and announced on Neopets social media by the end of the month.
The blog indicates that the blog post itself will be updated monthly with the new theme, and a link to the submission form. It is not clear at this time exactly when the themes will be announced—i.e. on a specific day each month, or randomized.
Themes
Each month will feature a new theme. Based on the inaugural contest, and the historical random contests, themes will likely be very open-ended and open to each users' interpretation, to promote creativity and diversity of submissions.

Creating Your Entry
Warning! Using AI to generate or edit your entry is not allowed.
If this month's theme speaks to you, you'll have about 3 weeks to create and submit your entry, with judging occurring during the 4th week of the month. The submission deadline and judging date will be listed on the contest page.
Just like the Art Gallery, any style of art counts, whether it be digital, hand-drawn, painted, crafted, carved, welded, sculpted, sewn, folded, baked, or anything else you can think up. Regardless of what form of media you choose, your submission will ultimately be submitted via a Google Form as a digital file, or files, no more than 100 MB in size each.
Rules
- No AI-generated artwork
- No collaborations—all work must be created by, and submitted by, a single user
- You may only enter using your main account, no side accounts
- Original content only - you cannot use work created by another user, even if you give them credit
- Your art, title, and description must follow all basic site rules (no swearing, violence/gore, mentioning of banned topics, etc.)
TNT currently does not have an official FAQ posted about this contest, so it is unclear if there are, or will be, additional rules in the future.
Submitting Your Work
Once you feel your work is complete, it will be submitted via a Google Form provided by TNT, located on the contest page on the Neopets Portal Blog.
User Information
Since this contest is entered off-site, via a Google Form, you will have to provide TNT with a little bit of information about yourself. This includes an email address (where you will be contacted if you win), your Neopets username (in order to receive on-site rewards), and social media handles if you choose. All winning entries will be shared to social media by TNT—you can not opt out of this—but it is up to you how (or if) you would like to be publicly credited.
It is not required to provide any social media handles, or to use social media at all, in order to enter this contest. Providing your handle is optional, and only if you want it to be publicly associated with your winning piece.
Additionally, you will be asked to consent (or decline) to having your username publicly associated with your artwork.
Heads up! Providing your social media handle(s) will allow them to be linked back to your on-site username, so take caution on whether or not you are comfortable publicly identifying yourself.
Submission Limits
Unlike other creative contests, there is a fixed limit to how many submissions you can enter. As of the inaugural contest in July 2026, users can submit 2 entries, so choose carefully! This also means you are unable to "spam" the submission form in hopes of being at the top of the pile (nor should you do that even if you could!).
Title & Description
Your title does not have an effect on whether or not your entry is accepted. However, your title needs to be appropriate and follow site rules (no swearing or mentions of banned topics). Otherwise, it can be anything you'd like—a short description of your piece, a witty or punny reference, or something else entirely.
You will also need to provide a brief description of your artwork; the form states that "in-universe flavour text is encouraged". Our best guess at this time is the description will likely be visible alongside your winning entry, so we recommend spending a little extra time to write a nice little blurb that lets other users, and the judges, know about your work. Again, make sure that your description is appropriate and follows all site rules.
Uploading Files
Unlike other creative contests with rather constrictive file size limits, files for the #NEOPETS Contest can be up to 100 MB each. It is unlikely you will need to compress or reduce the file size of your images as a result. If for some reason you do, though, check out our Art Gallery guide for some tips.
For physical art, ensure you take a high quality photo, scan, or video. A neutral background with adequate lighting is best, although you may prefer to stage your art with some props or a relevant setting.
Also as a new feature for this contest, you can submit videos for submissions as well, provided they do not exceed the 100 MB file size.
And finally, as a nice perk, you're allowed to upload a maximum of 5 files showcasing your piece. For physical art, you may consider uploading a variety of angles or methods of staging the art. For digital art, you will likely only upload a single file—the art itself.
Submission Outcomes
Winners are notified via Neomail as well as announced on Neopets social media channels.
Prizes
If your entry is chosen, you will earn a trophy for your cabinet as well as an exclusive avatar. At this time there are no Neopoint or item prize rewards, although the blog suggests that "special themed prizes" may be available for future contests.
If this is not your first time being selected, your trophy will update on your userlookup to include a multiplier beneath it, indicating your total number of publications.
