Monthly Q&A with TNT

The August 2025 AMA took place at 6pm NST on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The AMA was first announced the AMA through the Two-Year Retrospective on the Neopets Portal on August 5, about two days in advance. It is not clear at this time if this means AMAs will resume on a monthly cadence afterwards.

This AMA featured Neopets CEO Dom Law as usual. It also included discussion with TNT Aesop, TNT Luna, and TNT Dingo.

Although the announcement invited questions to be submitted in advance through a form on the Neopets Portal by selecting "Question to TNT Dom" as the subject, a StrawPoll was posted a few hours before the event.

Rare Item Code

TNT did not promise in advance that there would be a rare item code, but did reveal one as DOMELETTE near the end of the livestream, redeemable at Grundo Warehouse until August 9th at 6pm NST.

Tell us about yourself?

• TNT Aesop: Senior Narrative Designer. He grows out his beard when he gets busy.
• TNT Dingo: Programmer.
• TNT Luna: Community Manager but also supports with NC design.
• TNT Dom: currently in China for partner meetings.

Dingo: What are some of the top bug fixes and how did they improve the overall user experience on Neopets?

• Grundo Warehouse prize code error! The page no longer goes blank.
• NC on-hand balance updates automatically after purchases.
• Improvements to the PayPal callback system.
• Restoring NeoMail replies.
• Adding commas to the Auction House.

Dingo and Dom: What were some of the notable feature delays or missteps?

• Dingo mentions the removal of the ability to "re-roll" Quest Log prizes, which has been fixed by adding official support.
• Dom mentions wanting to be more transparent. Intends to provide monthly updates with progress towards the roadmaps, including any shifts and blockers.

Dom: How has Neopets committed to addressing feedback?

• "It's a cultural shift for the internal team."
• Trying to stay committed to their promises and increase communication with the community.

Who are the team's favourite Neopets villains and why?

• Aesop: Dr. Sloth. "Classic villain maniacal genius."
• Dingo: Vira. "I almost don't even think of her as a villain."
• Dom: Dr. Sloth. "Most mysterious one" and only one that's not a Neopet.
• Luna: The hot dog from Hot Dog Hero because she had so much trouble playing it.

Which real world events did Neopets participate in? Can we expect to see more?

• Dom says they are trying to balance between trade shows and community-focused events.
• TNT was recently at Las Vegas Licensing Expo and San Diego Comic-Con.
• Dom says he will be attending gamescom 2025 soon.
• Dom wants to explore more casual, fan-run meetups throughout the world.

Aesop: What's something in the current narrative that you're most excited about?

• Character arcs for Nyx and Baelia in the current plot.
• "Very thrilled to see" how the community takes these arcs.

Dingo: What's the most challenging part of working on Neopets this year?

• "There's a lot of things we want to do and only so many people to get them done."
• Gives an example of all the updates they did to the plot, which was delayed by rebuilding the Quest Log.

Aesop: Will there be any more lore for Iyana?

• Aesop is surprised by the "deep cut" character.
• Aesop says he does enjoy adding more lore to lesser known characters.

Aesop: When will Lord Kass be back? And Hannah x Kanrik canon when?

• "I'm not the type who likes to give too much away."
• "Those who dare gaze deep enough into the Void might get a glimpse" of Lord Kass's whereabouts.
• Aesop suggests that Hannah and Kanrik are already semi-canonized as a couple due to their appearance in an Advent Calendar comic of couples.

Aesop: Will we ever know the fate of Lutari Island?

• "I hope so!"
• A Lutari Island plot was one of the options considered instead of The Void Within.
• "The land and lore would need significant updates if we were to reintroduce the island" which is why they passed on the idea for now.

Dom: Are there still plans for Neohomes?

• TNT "put it further out" on the roadmap because "it's something we'd like to explore."
• Might not be able to "bring it back as a whole" but might deliver some alternate idea.

Dom: Can we release old con merch?

• "We need to look into that."
• Might not be allowed to rerelease con-exclusive merch due to exhibitor agreements.
• But, might be able to release new, tweaked versions of the merch.
• Want to include popular characters in future merch. Lord Kass merch is in the works!

Dingo: When are we getting the Varwolf event?

• "Soon-ish."
• "Perhaps when things get spookier," implying around October or Halloween.

Dingo: "Tell us you're making a Battledome app."

• They're not doing this.

Dingo: How many pet slots are you planning to release?

• Currently planning just one more.
• Need to assess the extra load this places on the servers before committing to more.
• Dom notes that overall downtime and average load speed are both better than ever, and they don't want to lose this progress.

Dingo: Have you made any recent changes to the Battledome?

• Tweaked codestone and Nerkmid drop rates. JN News Post »

Dom: Can you give an update about the purge?

• JN Note: A purge of old accounts was originally promised in a June 2024 press release to take place in October 2024.
• TNT has done a lot purging of data not related to accounts/pets.
• The main driver of recent growth on the site has been lapsed users returning, and TNT do not want to overdo removals of accounts.
• Lapsed users finding their old accounts are gone has been a huge blocker to them returning. They want to "protect that chance" for such users.

Dingo: Will you ever get pound_release working again?

• "We did look into it."
• It's currently low priority but may move up if there's enough community feedback.

Aesop & Dingo: Is The Void Within "From the Very Beginning" Fearless Deed locked after the hiatus?

• They believe it's the only Fearless Deed that is locked.
• Might discuss a way to bring it back nonetheless.
• Further complicated by the shift to the episode format.

Dom: There is a rare item code generating exploit and a large market for offsite item sales.

• TNT is aware of the offsite pet and item market. They are often able to identify accounts associated with them, and has been freezing them.
• The people who run such sites are often also hackers or cheaters.
• TNT have put in effort to greatly reduce botting activity, but hackers & cheaters sometimes change their methods accordingly.

Can we get a goth paint brush?

• Dingo says "I wish!"
• Luna shares that creating a new paint brush is a "very heavy lift" for TNT.
• Luna suggests sharing these types of ideas on TNT Adler's monthly suggestion boards on the Site Events Neoboard.
