Training and Ascending Cards

As you fill your collection of cards with Heroes (and possibly second and third Leaders), you'll want to start powering up these cards by training them.

Training a card by either leveling it up or "ascending" the card (increasing the number of stars it has) has the benefit of giving you a stronger party member with the ability to last longer in battles and deal more damage to speed up your wins. Each level that you train a card, its attack, defence, and other stats will increase.

Training your party comes at cost, however, which is detailed below.

How to Train

The coin cost associated with leveling up a card increases based on the current level of the card as well as the level(s) of the card(s) being consumed for leveling. The higher the card level, the more it costs to use that card for leveling - the trade off is that you'll also get more XP points towards leveling.

Training Strategy

The more stars a card has, the more XP it awards when leveling as well. As such, it's advantageous to use 2-Star cards to level up other cards, and sell off 1-Star cards to gain the coins needed to afford leveling.

Cards that have 3 stars and higher are best to keep. If the card is good for battling then you'll also want to increase it to the maximum level to get the most benefit of using the card in the battle gameplay. If the card isn't worth using in battle, then keeping it at the lowest level after ascending the needed star level makes it best to be used as ascension fodder for other cards.

Training Costs

1 Star Level Up Costs

A hero with 1 Star must be leveled up to Level 10 before you may ascend it to 2 Stars.

To ascend your card from 1 Star to 2 Stars, you will need to pay the following:

• 1x 1-Star Card of any element
• 1x 1-Star Card of the same element as the card you're ascending
• 2,500 Coins
• 0 Ascension Stones

2 Star Level Up Costs

A hero with 2 Stars must be leveled up to Level 15 before you may ascend it to 3 Stars.

To ascend your card from 2 Stars to 3 Stars, you will need to pay the following:

• 1x 2-Star Card of any element
• 2x 2-Star Cards of the same element as the card you're ascending
• 4,000 Coins
• 5 Ascension Stones

3 Star Level Up Costs

A hero with 3 Stars must be leveled up to Level 30 before you may ascend it to 4 Stars.

To ascend your card from 3 Stars to 4 Stars, you will need to pay the following:

• 1x 2-Star Card of any element
• 2x 3-Star Cards of the same element as the card you're ascending
• 7,000 Coins
• 40 Ascension Stones

4 Star Level Up Costs

A hero with 4 Stars must be leveled up to Level 40 before you may ascend it to 5 Stars.

To ascend your card from 4 Stars to 5 Stars, you will need to pay the following:

• 1x 4-Star Card of any element
• 2x 4-Star Cards of the same element as the card you're ascending
• 10,000 Coins
• 100 Ascension Stones

5 Star Level Up Costs

A hero with 5 Stars must be leveled up to Level 75 before you may ascend it to 6 Stars. (Currently, only Neopet Leaders are capable of ascending to 6 Stars.)

To ascend your card from 5 Stars to 6 Stars, you will need to pay the following:

• 2x 4-Star Card of any element
• 2x 5-Star Cards of the same element as the card you're ascending
• 15,000 Coins
• 250 Ascension Stones

6 Star Level Up Costs

Currently, only Neopet Leaders are capable of ascending to 6 Stars, and 6 Stars is currently the maximum star level.
