2023 Faerie Festival

Recycling

In the style of the 2020 Charity Corner, Illusen and Jhudora are each leading efforts to collect recycling materials to help clean up Neopia. Neopia may still be doomed though, as you can only recycle a maximum of 30 items each day. Items can be recycled at the Faerie Festival page.

This portion of the event ran from October 9th through October 17th at 11:59 PM NST.

Items to Recycle

You can recycle the majority of Neopoint item types and rarities:

  • You may recycle any item, from r1 through r179. (See one exception below.)
  • You may recycle an item from any item type category—it's not just books, clothing, etc.
  • You may recycle anywhere from 1 to 10 items at a time. You do not need to fill all 10 recycling slots at once.
  • You may recycle any combination of rarity items.

Recycling Restrictions

As mentioned above, there are a few restrictions as to what can be recycled:

  • You may not recycle r180 items.
  • You may not recycle Neocash (r500) items.
  • Sticky Snowballs, a r100 item, are worth only 1 point each instead of 4 points.

Rewards

An item prize shop is available, and there are no perks. You may spend your prize shop points both during and after the event concludes. Each item recycled will award you with points that you will be able to redeem immediately in the item prize shop.

The points you receive depend on the individual items' rarities. Here's a breakdown:

  • r1-r79: 1 point
  • r80-89: 2 points
  • r90-97: 6 points
  • r98-r100: 4 points
  • Sticky Snowball: 1 point (a restriction, despite being r100)
  • r101: 1 point
  • r102-r179: 8 points

If you recycle three r101 items (1 point each) and two r90 items (6 points each), you will receive a total of 15 points for that combination of items (1 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 6 = 15 points). The points you accumulate will be redeemable immediately in the item prize shop.

Since you can recycle up to 30 items per day, the maximum points you can receive in a day is 30 items * 8 = 240 points, which can be done by donating 30 items with r102-179. This also means the maximum points you could earn during the event is 240 * 9 days = 2,160 points.

For recycling the maximum of 30 items in a given day, you will receive a special bonus item that will in turn reward another item if opened:

Wow, you've recycled the maximum amount of items today. For your eco-friendly efforts today, you've been awarded with a Faerie Recycling Capsule! Who knows what could be inside?
Faerie Recycling Capsule

When opened, the Faerie Recycling Capsule has the following odds of rewarding an item from the indicated rarity range:

Item Prizes

Depending on which version of the festival you choose to (or were forced to) attend, you'll have the prize shop for the corresponding faerie available.

The maximum number of points available for full participation was 2,160. No items had a redemption limit, allowing Neopians to redeem as many items as their point balance allowed.

You may immediately spend the points you accumulate by recycling items. The prize shop will remain open even after the event finishes.

The entirety of the prize shops are pre-existing items from a variety of origins. You can see more info on our prize shop guides.

Item Lists

We've prepared some lists in our Item Database that you may wish to make use of.

Heads up! We're working around the clock to update the prices in our Item Database, but prices tend to shift quickly during Recycling, so they may be slightly stale. The lists above will still act as a good reference regardless!

Price Checker Tools

We also recommend checking out our Price Checker Tools in the Item Database. There are tools available for your Closet, Gallery, SDB, Shop, and Neohome Storage Shed. Each tool allows you to input a page's source code from, say, your Safety Deposit Box, and get a list of all the items and the current Jellyneo price, along with the Recycling point value. Perfect for figuring out what to pull out into your inventory to recycle!

Recycling Tips and Strategies

With a different point system than previous events, we've created a guide to highlight how to obtain r102-r179 items, which provide the maximum number of points for this year's event.

Many of our favourite strategies from past Charity Corner events are still valid for Recycling, especially for r90-99 items.

Executing Recycling

You may recycle items only through the Festival Hub. Below the Team Meter on the right side, the 'Submit your items' box is the Recycling center. Click the "Recycle Item" button to begin the process.

Before you start! Items must already be in your Inventory to be recycled—contrary to the FAQ claiming items can also be recycled from your SDB.

There is also nothing to indicate item rarities through the recycling process, so it's recommended to only have your inventory contain the items you wish to recycle to avoid any mixups. (Plus maybe a Pant Devil Attractor for safety.)

You can select up to 10 items at a time this way, then click the "Recycle Items" button to proceed. If you're not ready to select items yet, you can X out of the menu or click the "Back to Faerie Festival" button.

Recycling Item Selection

You will be asked to confirm your choice by clicking another "Recycle Items" button. If these are not you the items you wish to recycle, click "Back to Item Selection" to return to the previous menu and select different or fewer items that are in your inventory, or X out to return to the festival hub.

Recycling Confirmation

Bug! If you had selected items but did not execute recycling and instead returned to the festival hub, when you return to the item selection window the same items will still be selected provided they are still in your inventory. For example, if you had 10 items selected, but then removed any of those to your inventory, when you click to start the process again the remainder of your previously-selected items will still be selected, but the count does not decrease so you may not be able to select any additional items. Refreshing the page appears to solve this.

A popup will confirm the points from that donation, your total points earned, total number of items recycled, and your daily recycle count. You can also check the festival hub to see the daily count of items you've recycled, and visit the prize shop to verify the amount of points you have accumulated.

Illusen's Confirmations
Look at you go! Keep this up, and soon the Meridell greenery will be lush green as far as the eye can see once more! Here, for some extra encouragement, please accept these points.
Spectacular! Thank you so much for your hard work collecting all of this. You've certainly earned some points!
Well done! I know it may seem like futile work sometimes, but every bit counts. Please, take these points as a token of my gratitude.
Jhudora's Confirmations
Great, nice job picking up trash. Now get back out there and get more more garbage than Illusen!
Huh? Oh, right the garbage thing, year sure, add it to the pile. Here take some more points I guess
That's all you got? Well, I guess a deal's a deal, so here are your points. Just try to get bigger pieces of junk next time!
