Neopian Times Editorial Database

The Neopian Times Editorial is a (usually) weekly column hosted by The Neopets Team that answers questions direct from Neopians. Unfortunately, these Q&A's are not easily searched on the Neopets site, so we've created our own searchable database. Convenient for looking up past answers!

To search, just type something in the box below! (The fewer words, the better... usually.)

How long is a normal waiting period before you get the other trophies and prizes, like art gallery or storytelling?

Normally you will get your trophies by the time the next contest goes up. We don't give trophies straight away as sadly there are people that send in other people's work as their own. That way if anyone is found cheating their account can be frozen and they will not have benefited from someone else's hard work.

Does Neopets have a clock or clock tower, so we know the times?

Not as such, but the time and date is shown in NST (Neopian Standard Time) on the front page, world page and many other areas of the site. If you ever need to know the time, just click on world in the yellow side bar, or go to the Neopets home page.

When I first started playing neopets, I collected GOLD cards, but when the change came... some of them were changed to a lower price and colour....Will we be reimbursed for the loss of all the gold cards we paid hard earned neopoints for?

No, you will not. Firstly, we did this months and months ago, and secondly when we changed the rarity we also changed the prices so your cards went from being worth 100 NP to anything up to 100,000! That means you didn't actually lose anything because your previously rare cards were worthless anyway. Now they are more balanced and the rarities match the prices.

What is the use of the Island Mystic? All it does is tell your future and it doesn't even come true??!!!

Well, sometimes it may be true... it's just a bit of fun really, although you never know when a herd of wild monoceri may come trampling by :)

Can anyone view your pets job resume, or only the owner?

Anyone can see what jobs your Neopet has completed.

Can you give me a clue to find out the secret of the Fungus Cave on Krawk Island?

Well, first you need to give your Neopet a Krawk (the petpet), but that is all you are getting. The rest you should figure out yourself.

Are you planning on creating new pets?

Yes, in fact a new one is planned for sometime next week, although shhh... don't tell anybody :)

Why does the counter for the Golden Dubloon always say there are more than 80 people inside?

The Golden Dubloon can seat 80 people comfortably, but at busy times more than 80 can squeeze inside, although it does get rather cramped.

What if I saw an account that is 2 years old....It has no Neopets, No Neo-store, No nuttin on it can u possibly make it mine?

No! We will never give any old accounts away no matter how unused they look.

All four of my pets are lupes. Two don't mind eating a Baguss but theother refuse to eat it. Why don't they all like the same thing??

Every Neopet is an individual. They all like and dislike certain things regardless of their species.

Whats The Point of "Restricted" pets! I think its just an evil scheme to move lennys to first *gak*

Awww... you wouldn't like it if everything was easy :)

I have been hearing about a school for neopets but I wasn't sure if there is one, is there a school or not? (if yes) where is it?

There isn't a Neopian School, but there is a Training School on Mystery Island and a Swashbuckling Academy on Krawk Island. You can also make your Neopet more intelligent by reading them books.

I had two or three Disco Dude Collector Cards. What happened to them? I had one in my shop, I had one in my NeoDeck. I have also noticed that in using the Shop Wizard, looking for this card, nothing comes up. It has also been taken out of the line up of Collector Cards. Please explain.

We have been slowly replacing all the not so good collectable cards with better characters and images for the past year. If we are going to print collectable cards we want the characters to be more interesting than a lupe that likes flowers, or a gelert that eats neggs. They are almost all done now, but Disco Dude was one of the cards that was replaced. You still own the cards, but they have changed into whatever Disco Dude was replaced with.

Why is it that our message display on our guild is decreasing instead of increasing? We have reached over 1000 messages....and we are now at 8!

This could be because a member of your guild that has the admin ability to delete messages chose to erase old messages. It could also be because a member of your guild was frozen or received a warning and had their messages wiped.

I see many players posting that your password willshow up as ********** if you try to post it on chat or in neomails. Is this real?

No, its just a stupid scam to fool you into typing your password on the message board. We do stop you sending your passwords via neomail, but we don't want to block it from the message boards as people do have obvious dictionary words as their passes so won't be able to type certain words. Please DO NOT give your password away for any reason!

If you want to show off how many and which books your pet has read, (even if she hasn't read enough for a trophy yet) how do you do it?

You can find out how many books your Neopet has read by going to 'Quick Ref' (click on your pet's name in the yellow side bar). Click on your pet's intelligence and it will show you how many books they have read and which ones they were. Other people cannot see this, so the only way you can show off is to put it in your pet's description or on their webpage.

Are there a limited amount of Krawks?

No, but they are pretty rare so they are hard to get hold of.

From Neopian Times, Issue 24. JN Editorial ID: 229

Do I need to colour my artwork to let it be chosen for the Art Gallery?

No, Your picture can be drawn on the computer, by hand, in colour, black and white, water colour, painted, glued together, anyway you want. As long as it is interesting and 100% your own work it has a very good chance of getting in the gallery.

From Neopian Times, Issue 24. JN Editorial ID: 228

In the gourmet food club does the "rare foods" include omelettes?

As long as the item has a rarity between 90 and 100 it is classed as a Gourmet Food! Omelettes have a rarity higher than 100, so they are not classed as gourmet.

One would hardly class something you
scrape from a rock as gourmet!

Which petpets were retired?

Now that really would be telling... you know some things you just have to find out for yourselves :)

From Neopian Times, Issue 23. JN Editorial ID: 226

What exactly is Marmite and how do you eat it?

Marmite is a brown sticky substance you can spread on toast or mix with water to make a hot drink. It is sometimes referred to as 'salty tractor grease' although personally I think thats a little unfair! Some people love it, some people hate it, but it is definitely bizarre :)

I noticed that at the main screen of neopets, it mentions that neopets has a green-skinned villain with a head like a chicken. Is this some sort of hint to the next plot line? Or am I forgetting some evil character?

*cough* Dr Sloth *cough*!

When will neopets merchandise be sold in stores not just in america because it is really hard for the people not in the us to get a hold of neopets mercandise without paying extra for oversea shipping?

We do not have an exact timeline for international distribution. Wewill be in Asia later this year.

Why do you guys have a "Neocam" if it's never on, or the view blocked by a cubical wall or bunch of asparagus? Many of us Neopians are curious as to what you folks really look like. Not having the cam on or blocked just makes it worse. It makes us think you guys are all mutants or WORSE!

Thats because we are all hideously ugly and don't like to be seen by the outside world, believe me asparagus is far nicer than our ugly mugs!

In the News for January 12-13, you said times were hard for the Tika Tack tombola man and he was collecting donations. I know your not really gonna ask us to donate but does that mean that you are gonna shut it down?

No, it means that the poor Tiki Tack man REALLY is a bit down on his luck. He has been funding the Tombola out of his own pocket for a very long time. You do seriously have to give donations to help the poor guy out!

All donations are very much appreciated!

I sent you the Parent consent form and I still can't play any of the protected features( Chocolate sweepstakes). How long does it take to be updated? ?

If you fax it to us, it usually takes around 2 days but sometimes if we are extremely busy, it can take up to a week. If you mail it to us, please allow the time it will take to get to us, then another 2 days to a week to be processed.

From Neopian Times, Issue 23. JN Editorial ID: 220

Why do you only have the 4 colours for our pets (green yellow red and blue)?

Erm.. I am not sure what you are talking about, all the pets come in a wide range of colours, some even come in mutated forms. You just need to get hold of a magical paintbrush and take your Neopet to the Rainbow Pool!

From Neopian Times, Issue 23. JN Editorial ID: 219

Why don't people obey the rule "no prices over 100000 np"?

This isn't a rule, you can price your items over 100,000NP if you just want to show off the item (like a gallery). You can't buy items costing more than 100,000NP, but if you want to let the world see you are the proud owner of a Blue Chia Plushie you can.

From Neopian Times, Issue 23. JN Editorial ID: 218

If you have a sick/dying neopet what happens if you never heal it?

You meany, if you really can be so heartless, your pets will continue to be sick/dying forever. They won't actually die, but they aren't exactly going to be the happiest pets around!

From Neopian Times, Issue 23. JN Editorial ID: 217

Can you tell us when days like Wocky day are in advance so we can take advantages of the benefits for our pets?

We have always displayed all the pet days on our Calendar, you can access this from the world page. Just click on 'World' in the yellow side bar and then click on 'Calendar'.
