I am very excited to announce that we are finally able to share some of what we discussed at jnCon with TNT last summer!

TNT is very much considering creating an entirely new species of Neopet. However, there's a big issue: there are over 12,000 wearables, and only a fraction are backgrounds and trinkets. With this in mind, TNT has been wrestling on how to best proceed with the customisability of a new Neopet. Does it come with absolutely no existing wearables? Do they retroactively draw older items? What about with Neocash items, since having those wearable would help bolster the NC Mall?

A Solution?
After discussing this with TNT, we came up with an interesting solution. Right now, all wearables are drawn to fit the mold of existing Neopet bodies. What if a new Neopet was created using already existing Neopet bodies, therefore allowing existing wearables to fit snugly into place?

That's where you guys come in! We've been asked by TNT to make use of our vast Wardrobe data to assemble a new Neopet species out of existing artwork. So, we're excited to announce the latest addition to our Wardrobe: Build a Species!

How It Works
Visit the Build a Species tool and start building your new species from scratch. Be sure to click the "Random Creations" button for a little inspiration!

We will be putting up a vote of your creations over the next few days, Costume Contest style. The top voted species will be submitted to TNT as official contenders for a new species of Neopet! To enter your creation, save it, and share the URL (to the wardrobe link, not the PNG!) in the comments of this news post. You'll need to register a jnAccount to participate.

New Species Schedule
Here's how we plan on running this:

• April 6th: Last day to create your new species, and share it in the comments of this post. Update: Entries are now closed!
• April 7th: Voting on new Neopets begins.
• April 14th: Last day to vote!
• April 15th: Results revealed and sent to TNT!
