Over The Rainbow Avatar Update

TNT has shared a new update in some community spaces about the new Over The Rainbow avatar.

Hey Neopians!
We’ve heard your feedback regarding the requirements for obtaining the final Over the Rainbow Avatar from The Void Within, and we’re adding an additional way to unlock it to recognize players who demonstrated a high level of participation throughout the plot.

You can still earn the avatar the original route by participating in all activities and reading each chapter of The Void Within as it unfolds. But now in addition, players who have earned the Prismatic Paragon Trophy (awarded after accumulating 80,000 or more plot points) will also be eligible to receive the avatar.

This update will be deployed tonight and is expected to be live by tomorrow morning! Once the update is live, players who meets either set of requirements can visit The Void Within plot hub to claim the avatar:

Additionally, anyone who purchased a Chapter Replay Fortune Cookie on or after August 27 will receive a refund in Neocash.

This is a bit of a make-good from a beleaguered rollout for the avatar. It first appeared nearly two months after the plot concluded, and players who had claimed their final prizes before then were unable to unlock it. A few weeks later, TNT ran two waves of scripts to award it to eligible players. Since then, official support began giving detailed answers to players about aspects of the plot they missed, and encouraged use of the Chapter Replay Fortune Cookie to tie up these loose ends, which had varying success. Tonight's change represents a loosening of the avatar's requirements, which hopefully finally smooths things over for both players and TNT.

Yay!! Finally, I sent in a ticket and the were like “well you must not have fulfilled the requirements then 🤷🏻‍♀️” but I was so intense about getting everything single thing in this plot. It’s all 100% and I was so frustrated about this avatar. Thank you so much JN, I wouldn’t have known with out you guys 💜.

Wow. I sent a ticket in 8/30 and never got a single reply. Not even the canned “you didn’t do enough to earn this” that people got early on. I 100% the entire plot from day 1 so no clue why I didn’t get it with the first several waves of scripts. Glad they are releasing it now like this though. What a mess.

I mean...I'm glad they addressed this in some fashion so I'm thankful for that. However, why when we submit a ticket we are given some copypasta nonsense which didn't even answer our questions and then some got answers to their follow up about potential missing things which weren't true or just never answered. Why are they allowed to treat us that way with their customer service and tickets? They just made it 10 times worse when they could of just properly clarified things or did this from the start.

I'm happy with this resolution. It was so silly to lock out people who put so much time into this over so long over obvious technical glitches on this end. It's still a huge accomplishment to get that many points so it's not like they just handed out to anyone.

Does anyone know how to figure out what chapter/ activity they're missing? I have 100% on each act except for the first because I didn't join the week it released. I sent a ticket, but they sent a generic response saying if I don't have the avatar then I didn't complete the necessary steps. They said I could use a chapter replay cookie, but how am I supposed to use it if I don't know what I'm missing lol. Is the fact I didn't join within the week of release the reason I'm missing out on it?

Glad that folks who managed that many points will receive it (and that I'll receive a refund for that fortune cookie...). Still following up with TNT since they told me that I "did not fully complete Chapter 5" and apparently I missed two pages (???). I received a follow up that congratulated me and said I just needed to finish the TVW Hub to collect my prizes. Alas: still no avvie. Really hoping this can be sorted sooner rather than later because this is almost more work than some of my game avatars.

I'm so over it. I emailed them and they told me I didn't fully complete chapter 11 which doesn't check out to me at all. I also only have 70,000 points so this update isn't gonna work for me either.

Can't believe I stuck with this dreadfully written, horribly drawn, low imagination plot for THREE YEARS only for there to be a missed avatar and no site theme at the end. What a total shit show

@raechalina I also had 100% on all Acts except the first because I didn't participate on the first day. I began a few days after the plot started, but I went to the HUB page just now and saw I received the avatar.

I'm so sorry that some of us didn't meet the 80k points and still miss out.

I was there from Day 1, did absolutely everything--both final prizes to confirm that. Still didn't get the avvie until now. Just glad to get it.

I just reached 80k with a replay cookie, 16h left on timer, didn't receive avater now so hopefully after the cookie ends?

I have over the 80,000 points and didn't get the avvie from visiting the hub. I still have this going though, maybe that is why? "Chapter 4 Replay: 2D : 12H : 09M". Will check again in the morning.

@raechalina same here and I still didn't get it. So now I lost hope because the cookies to gain more points didn't trigger extra trophies for me either so mine stopped at the 60k one

They should just give it to everyone at this point or base it on percentage of achievements. Its Neopets first "welcome back" plot. Im not spending $50 to go and re-do 39% of the plot because I didnt click on every single box correctly when the achievements said 98%.

Dont love the wording, they aren't acknowledging the error in their script or the players who definitely completed 100% of the plot and read every chapter but still somehow still didn't qualify for the avatar, while others did less and somehow received it. But I will take the avatar now that they made it obtainable with an alternate method, I do appreciate that.

I was told by CS that I missed finishing Ch8 on time, which is like a year ago. Really frustrated to see I missed anything that I can’t recall at all for a plot that lasts years …

I hit 80k after 2 replay cookies since they said I didn’t finish chapters 10 and 11, still got one running until Sunday… didn’t get the avy yet once again. Hopefully they’ll award it once the cookie ends.

what I don't understand is why they didn't just do this from the beginning. "Awarded if you earned 80,000 trophy points." Oh but waiiiit, it's because they dun goofed by introducing paid Chapter Meters and paid Replay Cookies after the plot ended. And messed up the "the store points and trophy points are separate! chapter meters do NOT count towards your trophy score!" lie when they introduced, read also goofed, that.

Why even bother.

I wish they could tell us which things we didn't finish, because mine still shows 100% but I'm glad they at least gave it out for hitting 80k or above.

Yeah and honestly I literally did everything. Clearly their system detects that I missed a page somewhere but I got 95k points, all achievements... It would be crazy that a person who did that but missed 1 out of 300 pages wouldn't be awarded for their loyalty...

the "100%" on the hub refers only to the Achievements. support has been telling people things like "you didn't read this specific chapter page" or "you didn't do battling/hospital during this chapter" which is not calculated in the 100%

Regardless, I think that's a level of detail players can stop worrying about now. This change makes your exact activity irrelevant as long as you got 80k+ plot points.

I feel bad for my one housemate that missed a page due to the page glitches during the beginning of the plot. They're just shy of 80k points, so they won't be able to get the avatar either way.

This change feels like just another way to entice people to buy replay tokens. Plenty of people have under 80k points and were happy to leave it at that. Now that an avatar is hanging over this plot, a lot will feel they have to spend this absurd amount of money, because they only spent a year on the plot, rather than three... ridiculous to have a 3 year plot like this. Definitely not friendly for returning players.

I'm still mad about it.. I did everything on time and got enough points. I think they should have fixed what ever issue they had to assign the avatar to the people who actually did the achievements on time.

This is garbage. I completed everything but their glitch is why I don't have the av. I have 73k plot points but I'd have grinded out the 80k if I knew that was the only way to get this avatar. But then again, who knows if they'll even award it consistently to those players who hit 80k too with how poorly they operate. I'm really over this bs.

Even if I was going to get a cookie, which I'm not, so many people have STILL not gotten the av after spending money. And what about the people who spent money on the cookie but could have just gotten it this way because they already had the 80k after participating in the plot for all of these years? Once again throwing loyal players under the bus and greedily extorting them. This is really the last straw for me as a decades-long player.

I have over 80,000 points and still did not get the avatar. How do I fix this? I didn't get it last night, so I waited til this morning and still nothing. (Yes, I visited the hub).

TNT just refunded all of the chapter replay fortune cookies I've used (1300nc) since the plot ended. They said the reason was because they relaxed the requirements for the avatar. I already earned the avatar prior to the use of the chapter replay cookies, but I'll take the refund anyway *shrug*

I'm thrilled with TNT's decision. I thought I had completed everything since I had the Void Paint Brush, Blaster and had 100% completion on all my achievements. When I didn't receive the Avatar, I sent in a ticket. Blake told me I missed an Activity in Chapter 12. I remembered doing all the puzzles. Checked my SDB, I was missing the Ozzy and Vira Marionettes. Real Life happened.

I spent nearly 2 years intensely participating and completed every fearless deed except from the very beginning. I read every chapter and did every activity but still don't qualify due to having only 65k points since I wasn't able to join early enough. I wish they counted doing everything even if you were doing it late instead of requiring you actually have been able to participate from the beginning or spend money on replay cookies. I'm glad this fixed the issue for some people but I'm still disappointed.

Still no avatar after 100% on everything, re-played chapter 12 and have a total of 94,458 points earned.
I am so over with this. Very frustrating process to witness.

I earned 122k plot points with 100% achievements. I read all the pages. I maxed all the battling and the volunteering. I did receive the avatar today. There was no pop up announcement though. I had to go to my neoboard profile to confirm it. It's just another ugly avatar I won't use but I wanted it on principle.

I am 2,640 points shy and I don't think buying a replay cookie will help since the only 2 achievements I'm missing are for the big boss fight ;_;

(Irrelevant info: it's extra annoying because the only reason I missed the big boss fight is I was told it was already over. But then it wasn't actually over until 10 am the next day.)

I somehow missed something in act 2, like a single panel on a page. Didnt go over well when I was told i had to redo the entire section despite maxing out literally everything. I mean, I did a million damage at least to vividicus {spelled that wrong sorry, you get the point} I literally couldn't have done more. So being told that didn't exactly make me happy to the point I was prepared to just forget about it. Im happy to have the avatar, im happier the plot is over. i am left with a bitter taste in my mouth about the entire matter. This plot has been both great and incredibly frustrating. I feel like this is a fair balanced comment.
