Very cool! I like the mutant poogle a lot and those guys aren't usually my thing. The babies are very cute little gremlins. The baby mutant ixi is especially good!

Popularism wins again, same old species with 100 styles & prismatics already, stay exclusively getting new styles. Kinda peeved that the Elephante, Tonu. Tuskaninny and others are shut out again. Not buying anything from this batch now!!

The mutant babies are so much cuter than I expected! I hope they add in the rest of the species.

Shut up the baby mutants are SO cute, and usually baby pets really aren't my thing. That ixi has me cryin, what a CUTIE. Love the Albino and Melanistic prismatics too!

Those baby mutant styles are so stinking cute!! If only they had any of my species, I'd get one.

So a week ago on JN's "August 2026 Newsletter Going Out" post I made a comment saying which Baby Mutants I would be interested in seeing them try: https://www.jellyneo.net/?go=comments&post=16060.

What are the results? Well, sadly, Acara, Bori, Bruce, Chomby, Kau, Lenny, Nimmo, & Pteri were skipped over this time. However they did do some which I was curious about, so let's take a look:

* Aisha: Keeps the Baby's Pose though the ears have been drooped down behind its head, something unique to it. The teeth in the Mutant's mouth have been decreased to two fangs, and the maws at the end of the antenna only have one tooth instead of four each (and look less menacing). It also have less droopy back plates than the Mutant (4 instead of 6) and interestingly keeps the Baby's pacifier collar as is.

* Blumaroo: The pose is based on the "nostalgic" Blumaroo art of them standing on their tails, including the Mutant Blumaroo. But otherwise just squish it and you just got a smaller Mutant Blumaroo.

* Cybunny: Takes aspects from both poses; the Mutant's raised paw (and flopped back ears) and the Baby looking the other direction/behind it. Infact, did they even change the face of the Mutant Cybunny at all? I know the Baby Cybunny has a big head but it still looks distinct from an adult's, here it just looks like they used the Mutant Cybunny's head but shrunk the ears and mane (and obviously rest of body). Feel this one could have used a couple more revisions.

* Draik: Pose is funnily unique as, while Mutant and Baby both are sitting with their front limbs raised, Baby Mutant has its front paws on the ground (it's also sticking its tongue out, something which the Mutant did in its "Nostalgic" art). It's a lighter green than Mutant and, while the ears and wings are still tattered, not as badly as the the Mutant's. Still has an exposed brain, though the cracked skull scar is more thicker, maybe trying to be like the Baby's strand of hair?

That's not the only questionable detail, honestly the whole body looks underdeveloped, especially the wings (which is odd as Baby Draik wings look just like smaller normal Draik wings). Another I think could have used a few more revisions.

* Gelert: Sitting pose is unique but feels appropriate. Its pretty much the Mutant Gelert but with the Baby's proportions, as well as less spikes.

* Gnorbu: Huh, you know what, it's actually cute! The unique pose really helps with it sitting upright and its left ear slumped over its face. It must smell better too as there's no swarms of flies around it. Still drooling, but its a baby so more excusable. Can't really tell if its body is lumpy like Mutant or basic like Baby, but overall good work here.

* Grundo: So, this was one of the Neopets on my list, and what they decided to do leaves a lot to be desired. Its pretty much an angry green Baby Grundo. Maybe its arms are a bit more articulated, and its ears do more resemble Mutant's having more layers, but if I didn't know this was meant to be a Baby version of the Mutant Grundo I would have never guessed. It roaring is cute.

* Hissi: Aside from the size I don't think anything from the Baby Hissi crossed over. It's still cute and has a fun pose of at least one of the heads fighting with the other.

* Ixi: Looks more like a Petpet based on the Mutant Ixi than a Baby version of it. Once again, aside from the size and being a quadruped, there's really nothing of the Baby Ixi here; they could have at least given it bigger eyes. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, just feel it's lacking details.

* Kacheek: *GASP* Is that Baby Mutant... wearing a BIB?! They remembered some Baby Neopets have clothing items! Though, maybe there's a reason for that, the Baby Mutant Kacheek takes heavily from the Baby, notably the pose. Just give it a brainy head, black & red eyes, simpler tail, and viola.

And for good measure they gave the bib a darker aesthetic that any Baby Mutant would want to get food all over.

* Kougra: Pose shares a parallel relation to the Baby Kougra; both are playful, but Baby is attentive & excited while Baby Mutant is tense & curious. Its also another Baby Mutant which brings back an old detail the pre-custom Mutant had; this time its the floppy left ear. I think the eyes could be a bit bigger as its otherwise just a shrunk down Mutant Kougra.

* Lupe: A more proper blending, plus a cute & dynamic pose! That's definitely the Baby Lupe's head given the Mutant treatment, giving it the fierce skull face but less sharpness. And while the pose is great, it does have an unfortunate downside as we can't see the backside so have no clue if it still have its back spikes and "ribs". Finally wish the middle claws were a bit bigger like with the Mutant, but these are all nitpicks to a great and adorable design.

* Lutari: LOL, well, while I didn't have it on my list, the Lutari did fit along with my question for the Bori. Mutant Lutari is a hulking figure while Baby is a noodle, so what do they do? Answer: A very fuzzy noodle. Interesting pose with it holding one of its tails, I'm getting a more mischievous vibe than menacing.

* Meerca: This pose is proportionally 1:1 to the Nostalgic Mutant Meerca pose (with less teeth), which is neat. It's also another which keeps its Baby clothing with the bow in the hair. For what's basically a head with a tail and stubby limbs they did a great job.

* Peophin: One of the more difficult designs I can imagine, but I think they pulled it off. There was no way the Mutant wasn't going to completely take over, but by keeping the Baby's head size (and large eyes, even for the middle eye which is funny) and pulling back the hair and back tentacles, I think they did blend the two designs nicely.

* Techo: In contrast, this is just a small Mutant Techo (with stubby spikes). At least make the eyes bigger or, if you didn't want to do the onsie, a shirt maybe.

* Usul: You know what, I kind of like this compared to the normal Mutant Usul. Yeah yeah, I know, the Mutant Usul is supposed to look unsettling cause normal Usuls like to look pretty. While I get the reason its eyes are bigger cause Baby, I kind of think they should consider at least making a wearable that makes the Mutant Usul's pupils bigger. Anyway, while pretty good, it's more Mutant than Baby, I mean its hair is bigger than its tail!

* Vandagyre: I think having all its eyes closed is a mistake. I get its probably supposed to look like a a real baby bird in that regard, but it just makes it look asleep and thus inactive. Which is sad cause they did make a slight change via lifting the middle eye. Infact, if they only had the middle eye open they could have both kept the three eyes but also done what I suggestedby it having only one eye. Also all Mutant, not a bit of Baby Vandagyre in there.

* Wocky: Huh, this more looks like a stylized chibi Mutant Wocky, I would have never guessed it was supposed to be mixed with Baby. Needed more revisions.

* Varwolf & Xweetok: We already saw them and I commneted on them. To quickly go over them again: Varwolf is a nice blend, Xweetok is more Mutant but has its odd charm.

Oh, and I also like the Mutant Prismatics. Cute having them be based on real life skin pigment mutations. Don't know what I would recommend for another color, Mutant is already pretty diverse color wise (we've got Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Pink, Yellow, Tan, Brown, etc.). Maybe do something unexpected: Rainbow!

Love the baby mutant pets and I'm not a baby pet fan. However, I'm a little confused, thought the Royal Prismatics were gonna be staying around as a new permanent option but they're gone again already I was waiting for my next payday to see about getting Prismas since I have both RB and RG Bori tokens but didn't have the money & brushes the first time the Prismas rolled around. Maybe it was unintentionally removed? I hope they'll bring it back again...

Not a fan of the baby mutants (and of course zfara is excluded again). Some are nice, but why the style inconsistency? Some tokens are normal neopets style, others are more "cutesy" and look like fanart which isn't BAD per say, but pick a lane.

I wanna like the melanistic & albino colors, but not fond of the execution. I thought they were onyx and blossom colorways at first.

Fire whoever did the "albinistic peophin". And that's not what "melanistic" means at all, it isn't "Hot Topic 2". albino neopets is a cool idea except for the few that clearly just think albinism is a color choice, and melanistic was executed horribly.

I'm not sure how to feel about the growing trend (online) of making skin conditions a fashion statement. Are they going to make Prismatic: Vitiligo next? :/

I'm sure I'll be told to lighten up since these are cartoon fictional creatures and rl animals actually do have these conditions, but idk.

on closer inspection, seems the mutant peophin's "hair" is entirely jelly-like, so the albino implication is the entire "hair" is translucent, just filled with blood. as well as the inside of its claws.

which makes me wonder if the varwolf's mane is just constantly spewing blood then.

But.. I see no baby mutant kau yet…

The baby Blumaroo‘s tail got insane strength to hold the mutant body

@crabbyb0tter I don't think it's intended to reflect human skin types/skin conditions with albinism and melanism traits but solely in mind of animals and the idea that those are, to my knowledge, mutated genes causing the traits, makes sense to give to a mutant pet. Clearly though the concept is upsetting to you for a reason that I can't say I am aware of, but that doesn't make how it makes you feel any less valid. Simply trying to state I don't perceive it as a malicious intent, though I also don't spend time online anywhere but Neo (and Youtube) these days for my mental health, so Idk what social media trends might be going on.

@crabbyb0tter Wikipedia literally defines melanism as "a congenital high level of melanin in an organism resulting in dark pigmentation." And there are photos of animals with similar colouration. You should not be reading any further into this. It's based on animals. Any other connections do not exist.

As somone who's gone down the reptile rabbit hole because I considered getting a ball python, I can say there are many snake morphs that involve albinism and melanism. The banana albino ball pythons, for instance. Many knockout mice are also albino. Like, just, the breadth of animals with pigmentation differences is enormous.

They look fantastic and all, I applaud the artists.
But why not EVERY Neopet species??? That's pretty bogus, TNT. Knock it off!

All I want is a dynamic pose for a mutant kougra, man, the nostalgic look is whatever but COME ON PLEASE
