Monopoly 2.0 Avatar is Live!

The second edition of the Neopets Monopoly Game, the "Legacy" edition, has officially launched as of this weekend, with copies spotted for sale at the Neopets booth at San Diego Comic-Con. Pre-orders from the Neopets Shop are due to ship by July 31st.

This product comes with a rare item code that awards a goodie bag item:


Tycoon Game Goodie Bag

Among the contents of this goodie bag is a new toy:


Tycoon Game Case

Having one of your Neopets play with this toy awards the rather interestingly named "Take My Money" avatar:


Because playing with toys does not consume the item, this item can be used by multiple players without limit, similar to the original Monopoly game (limited to 2,000 units sold) which gave the 25th Anniversary Neopets Game Case and awards the "Withdrawal or Deposit?" avatar.

right now they have not limited the stock on it (the first monopoly was strictly 2,000 units) but at some point they will likely stop producing it, yeah. depends how well it sells --- if it's selling great, they'll make more and sell more. if it's selling badly, they may stop after the first production run (and we don't know how large that first run is/was)

I decided to get the game but at the checkout it was 74 dollars in my currency which was advertised but another 99 dollars for shipping. Not today jose. Oh well there's plenty of stamps and avatars not available to me anyway.

Av is super ugly, would've been cuter if it was just the hand with money being slightly animated, no text. Or maybe just the text on the same image like most classic avatars have, rather than it swapping back and forth between hand and text.

But another paywalled stamp is just.. /headdesk
Hopefully this monopoly will keep restocking so the stamp will deflate.

I love Neopets, but the greed of releasing a limited edition board game with exclusive rewards, getting backlash from that, changing the rewards, and then deciding to DO IT AGAIN with the SAME BOARD GAME but a DIFFERENT EDITION so soon afterwards is just absolutely unbelievable. "Fix things on the site? No, let us come up with more ways to get money from our devoted player base and change the design of random pages first." It's really gross.

The text on the avatar is also annoyingly spaced with slightly less space at the bottom than the top of the text. Not that I'll ever get this avatar, but it just bugs me

Also another thing that I *just* noticed: The Shoyru on the front of the Monopoly box is the *exact* same as the one that appears on the new Neopia Quest box art that was revealed the other day (just flipped and a different colour).

I'm not so much bothered by the av being "paywalled" as the item can be lent. As long as even a single person bought this monopoly, if they're kind enough to lend others the item, everyone can get it.

Them constantly including album items in stuff like this is what really ticks me off.
And the fact that they sounded like they understood that it bothered people how limited the first monopoly was *BECAUSE* it included a stamp that only 2k people were able to get at most, so they acted like they were going to re-release it except they DIDN'T re-release the stamp and instead made it WORSE by releasing a NEW exclusive one. I'm so sick of this.

Idrc about exclusive item avatars bc the item isn't a consumable but I am very familiar with the meme the phrase and pose is evoking but they literally have to know this is in poor taste when so much of the playerbase has a bone to pick with them over the approach to monetization they've been taking. The site needs money to stay open and they've been slowly reducing predatory practices recently so I have a little more goodwill towards them than it sounds like based on what I'm saying, but like... they know how it /sounds/ right? Shut up and take my money hasn't been relevant in years anyway.

We got a message that the Monopoly game is in Georgia. I live in SC. Possible issue--SPEEDX. They are the designated shipping company. GO ONLINE AND TRY TO FIND ANYTHING SAID ABOUT THEM THAT IS GOOD. IT'S ALL NEGATIVE--PACKAGES MISSING, DELIVERED TO RANDOM PEOPLE, AND ADDRESSES. Wonder if I waited this long for nothing...getting nervous.

Well stuff my mouth with socks. The game made it here by this afternoon. My aisha token is broken at the neck. I got a head and a body. But SPEEDX did MARVELOUS with shipping. It came with ALL the rare item code items. I have that avvie now. The game is adorable.

Got my game today, opened it up, and the Aisha game piece is missing a head... seriously?! The head was in the bag with the rest of the pieces, just not attached to the body. I've put in a ticket, but I can't say that wasn't disappointing after all the hype, I expected the pieces to be a bit better made :/
