New Comic-Con Avatar

A new avatar has popped up in Neopia!


This avatar can be obtained by playing with the Maraquan Kiko Pocket Toy:


Like other avatar items, this toy can be played with over and over (it's not consumable), and can be loaned out to your Neofriends. And the toy comes from the SDCC 2026 Goodie Bag which has just begun popping up this evening at preview night down in San Diego:


The bag comes from a Rare Item Code given out to anyone who makes a purchase at the Neopets Booth (#437) during the event. There's a limit of two RICs per person per day.

If the artist who made the avatar knew how to actually make pixel art, the typography would be legible

I think they should've double checked the avatar before releasing it.... why does it appear so low quality? Like that's not pixel art, that's just low quality regular art. The all-white letters reappear for an extra frame. Idk if they intended to have a white outline and that's just the quality making it look all pixelly, but it has this really wierd anti-aliasing look to it.

cute design, horrible execution. the words randomly pop back in for an extra frame? how was this approved? it's too bad because it would otherwise be a very cute avatar.

What a weird choice of phrasing.. Is it okay for me to go to the Neoboards and proclaim "What's up beaches?" now too? I'd just be following TNT's example after all.

You know, while I am glad the method of getting the Avatar allows for sharing & lending, at the same time I also wish when they did these kind of Avatars which are connected to initially having to attend a real life event or purchase merch that they also release an Avatar which you can get just on the site. And I'm not asking for anything complicated, like when was the last time we had an Avatar you got simply by looking up a specific Species + Colour combo?

Or hey, considering this is a Kiko-themed Avatar, maybe fix Kiko Pop.

That poor avatar... It looks like someone created it at a larger size but scaled it down so it would fit the avatar size limit.

why is every avatar they make that isnt a standard shape just has a bunch of white artifacting around it? do they... not make it on a transparent background?

i know most of the background we see avatars propped up against are sharp #FFFFFF white in-website but like. this still bothers me a bit.

i hate that all the new avatars are for real life purchases so few of us will ever be able to get. this one hurts me the most from all the new ones since i'm a huge beach girlie!

@apophis no, not really, the avatar just says "please, take me to the beach" it may sound like something else but that's NOT what it reads, so yeah technically it isn't the same

The goodie bag itself is adorable!! I like it so much more than the toy or avatar. Wish I could get one for my gallery, but there's no way I can attend the event and I doubt many will remain unopened due to there being an avatar tied to the contents, so that will certainly be out of my reach.

I was thinking recently of making lil fan/mock-up Neoboard avatars for fun, kind of like pet adopts graphics? idk if anyone would want that at all/have any use for them though. 🤔

Agreed that these pay-to-get avatars (even if lending is involved) aren't the way to go and will be intentionally closing my wallet to things like this even though I know someone who's attending SDCC. And that's the thing, it's not even just money, but an exclusive geared towards a specific in-person event...that hurts international players.
