I really disliked this Book Archive thing at first, but as we learn more about it and how to obtain the books, I love it more!! Avatars used to be the only thing closest to an achievement system, but now we have a Quest Log and this.
What I love most is the repurposing of Neopets pages and features. I only have 1 so far(Growing Gardens with Music) but I can't wait to earn more! I have to remind myself to to the Taelia Quests.
What I dislike, is the fact they don't have a "read" option. EVERY book needs to be readable. They can't be both a readable item and collectible? Anyway, the avatar is nice.

I can't find a guide article for how to find all of the available books so far. Does this exist?

I hate the one of the games is only from the mobile game, so you're locked out if you're still resisting neopass, ugh. Also I still hate how this was all tainted by mixing it up with the NC mall at the start.

While I like the idea of archived books as a new collectable, I haven’t been a huge fan with how they have been released so far.

It’d be nice if they could be linked to achievements or scores in a particular game or site aspect, rather than just extremely rare random prizes, which essentially means any collector is going to have to buy 95 per cent of them from other players.

I know there are still many more collections to come, but the first two sets don’t fill me with hope.

Can you take it out of the shelf if you shelf it? Or is it permanently there like stamps?

sigh. And like stamps, gonna have to pass on this one because I don't have the NP, and luck is not so favorable to me.

Not sure how I feel about this having mutiple avatars tied to it. It's like the Hidden Tower series but more and more pricey as it goes up

Never even knew this was a thing until randomly stumbling upon the feature however many weeks ago... another annoying collectathon for the hoarders to play alone.

I can't play mobile games. They shouldn't be a requirement to achieve avatars at all. If everyone can't play them for rewards, they shouldn't be included. I refuse to pay outrageous prices for items just to get an avatar.

@ zabilac - You can move them around from one shelf to the other, but you can't put them back into your SDB, shop, etc.

I can't play mobile games, and never am I lucky enough to stumble upon a book, so this is a no go for me. But I did collect the free empty bookcase. Maybe they will give us free books or knick-knacks in the future. The gougers are asking way too much for the books.
I checked the books using the Archived Book Checklist https://items.jellyneo.net/tools/archived-book-checklist/ and there is no way I will be able to afford to buy all of these.

Is the concert hall one available more than once? I archived it but wondered if I should keep going to the concerts.

Bunch of complaining as soon as things aren't easily accessible and free, again. A bit like spoiled brats if you ask me.

Also Funny how "it's only for hoarders who play alone" sounds more like "I don't want to engage with the economy." You have the same opportunities as everyone else. I recognize your username too, and I never see you selling or trading anything. Maybe if you put a little effort into making Neopoints instead of complaining, you'd be able to buy the ones that show up on the trading post

I can't believe any of these books actually exist. I mean, they're SO profoundly irrelevant that JN hasn't even had enough material to put together a guide for them yet.

Call me a brat or a whiner if you want but IMO TNT really needs to fix the mobile apps if they want to put exclusive collectible items in them. My Tales of Dacardia has had rewards unlinked for over a month and it's an extremely common complaint in the app reviews. I've already put in a ticket and they closed it because they're "working on a permanent fix" and they gave me a consolation prize of 200K NP. Oh boy, that will surely put a dent in the millions it would cost to pay for the app exclusive prizes that most people can't get because of this problem.

They could have chosen just about any item for this, yet they chose books. Plants or potions or Socks would have worked but they said lets make expensive unreadable books and confuse lots of people.

I am quite curious to know from those who complain about the complainers, how they manage with the expensive Items. Do they buy them with all the expenses?

I'm sorry, but the whole "boo it's hard!" mentality is really frustrating to me. It's an optional thing. The site is designed around picking your own thing to do. Not everything should be easy.

On an unrelated note to these comments, while it's highly unlikely they meant anything except the Wheel of Extravagance, I wonder if it's possible it's also the Wheel of Monotony, since paying 200k to grease the wheel technically makes it more expensive? Unless it's just accounting for the NP you use to play.

Legends of Letters or whatever that mobile app was called was literally never available in my country and they decided to make at least 1 avatar for it and a NO-TRADE stamp. Now THAT is inaccessibility.
I'm glad they later changed their minds and made the items tradeable because I almost quit stamp collecting, knowing I'd never be able to fully complete my album. Still, the avatar remains unobtainable.

My ToD unsynced again too, I pretty much never play it but I noticed this morning there's a new exclusive stamp (for which you're basically not allowed to miss a single day.. yikes. Unless you pay real money, shocker) and I didn't receive my log-in bonus.

@jersha this happened to me in the past, I deleted and redownloaded, then reconnected neopass and then my prizes came through!

I am happy to have new opportunities for collections! I put everything on a list and grab it when the price looks right, generally I would rather trade item for item than buy outright. With stamps I’m mostly waiting until they’re buyable, I’m sure everything will eventually be rereleased. Buying from low to high without a specific album in mind has gotten me to 700 stamps and I’ve only started collecting in the past few years

^ This! Even those of us who faithfully play the game can't get rewards - I missed every reward for months due to the same desync issue, waiting on a ticket, before someone told me the only "fix" was to reinstall and lose everything earned during the desync

Also agree with Dave there should be some "easy" ones to make the whole system more engaging

I'm not necessarily against new collecting activities, it just seems like this one is really pointless beyond "quick! let's figure something out for everyone who maxed out their neodecks and stamp albums!" which, let's face it, is not an issue that affects the vast majority of players.

Whomever said they should've picked something other than books is 100% right. Choosing books as the first "archive" items is confusing for the players and shows an intense lack of creativity on the part of the team. Socks works for me, it's unique and quirky and people like chasing after quirky things even if it doesn't make much sense.

That said, it would be nice to give people a chance to catch up with some of the OTHER vast collecting goals we have before burying the entire new activity under 7 new/coming soon avatars and prices above a million neopoints. Or maybe it should be: before burying seven new/coming soon avatars under a new activity that costs you over a million np just to begin.

omg they made the corners properly transparent this time!!!! so many avatars recently have ugly white corners for some reason

@wheewhoo you have to reinstall the app and link the account again. It happened to me recently and it works fine for me now

@carlos234 I just tried the uninstall and reinstall and I lost EVERYTHING. Game progress has reset and I got none of the prizes. I took screenshots prior to uninstalling. 37 screenshots times 3 items per screenshot = 111 prizes just GONE.
