Last 24 Hours of The Void Within Chapter 17

There are only 24 hours left of Chapter 17 of The Void Within. The Chapter will end at 10am NST on Tuesday, June 9. At that time, Chapter 18 (the final chapter!) will begin.

If you are trying to maximize your plot points, make sure to fill your hub meter before 10am NST on Tuesday, June 9. This is most easily done through Hospital shifts and plot battles. Plot points earned from Achievements and Void Essence Collection do not count against chapter limits.

At the time of writing, the community battle against Vocivus still has quite a bit of HP to go, and not depleting at a rate to finish before the end of the chapter. It's not known if the battle will continue into the next chapter or not.

All Neopians can earn up to 4,000 points per chapter. This can be increased to as high as 7,000 through use of Chapter Meter Energy Booster NC items, though these extra points are only for the prize shop and do not count towards trophy progress.

Buffing the HP twice was a mistake. People were rushing the 50k or 100k then stopping especially once it was confirmed there were no prizes after 100k.

Just to think, if TNT didn't tell people to stop fighting Vocivus, then we would've been able to beat him before the last chapter

I think folks are tired of TNT’s continual bait and switch. This was not handled well and turned the big BD’ers off. I know I quit after 100K. There was zero incentive to keep the grind going.

If I had to guess, the player-side of the battle with Vocivus will continue throughout this week. It's not like any other Battles (nor other interactive portions such as the the Hospital Shifts and Games) is affected by the story progressing. Even if in the comic Vocivus is defeated/sent back through the Void, well we players still have to experience how much of a struggle that is. If anything it gives players more time to get enough points for the Corrupted Staff.

Either we defeat Vocivus next week (maybe there will be a prize for doing so?) or, with the end of the story/epilogue on June 16th, he'll fall due to events within the comic.

@ xhjon: Wait, did someone on TNT actually say people can stop battling after 100k?

I'm still fighting Vocivus, interestingly his normal prize limit is set at 15 instead of the plot increased 30, so what I've been doing is battling him & True Drakara up till the 15 limit and then for the remaining 15 fighting Malevolent Being & True Drakara. Maybe it's not much but it's something.

Sadly I don't think TNT really thought out the Battling/War part of the Plot; maybe I'm talking in hindsight but it felt kind of aimless. Like, sure, they were keeping out on how many of each opponent we defeated... but for what reason? There's no limit nor goal. Plus with only being able to redeem 30 prizes total by the end who you're battling is depending on who you can defeat that gives out the better prizes. And while I like the idea of the Wave system, if you're aiming for a specific prize you may stay away from Waves with a high number of opponents. My detailed thoughts are a bit too much to go into one JN post comment, so I'll end it by saying while TNT had good ideas here it needed more focus & systematic encouragement.

I assume the mega HP is mostly about giving everyone a chance to get the rewards. Would've sucked for people who only have time to play on weekends or short bursts to be SOL on wednesday or thursday if the thing was just dead.

They completely killed any incentive to fight Vocivus with the ridiculous HP increases. They shouldn't have even bothered with giving it HP since it was ultimately meaningless and just said "it's up for a week" with how they did it. Exclusivity is a driving factor, and if you take it away why even bother. They should have given it a 1 mil damage threshold if they wanted to increase its HP - something to actually motivate big battlers with something not everyone is just going to basically just be given and less powerful accounts could still get but would be a substantially higher commitment.

I wish they'd hurry up and fix the points bug. Cause I still don't have those 500 points the site claims I got for participating in the fight against this thing. I sent in a bug report but, I still don't have my points :/

Still can't beat Drakara (or the Tentacle. they're just to dang strong. I need far more HP than I have, and at 1 hours of training for ONE stat point. that's gonna take a long time)

Thank you for mentioning the points bug, Fozfyre. I sent TNT a ticket over it and STILL haven't gotten a response. Jellyneo also still hasn't said a single word about this, even though they mentioned other bugs related to points in their last news post.

Imagine if with the new week they drop "btw if you hit 1M damage you'll get a void paint brush" or "btw 10M damage personally and you'll get that fancy new wand".

yea the old plots would give out prizes + plot points based on participation, plus items during the plot for completing specific puzzles and participating in specific events. I think maybe keeping up with that system might have been a better idea, although the 3 year span of this plot would definitely push off most players so yea who knows

I got to 100k damage, but I am still fighting Vocivus while trying to do as little damage as possible for the rest of you. I want that Void Bomb before the plot is over.

I am just getting back into things and never cared about battling when I was a kid. I have been diligently training to get to 50 for Lens Flare to beat Vira, but there is NO WAY I will be able to beat the dark being in less than 5 and even less of a shot of getting a prize for 50k let alone 100k. I've probably done like 200

Had to train my main pet to level 50 *while* battling this past week but I used strats from the awesome folks on TVW board and have done over 100k dmg to Vocivus, beat Vira, and beat True Drakara (in 4 turns!)

Learned a lot about the battledome mechanics for the first time ever and tbh will probably start playing more arena after the plot ends. Have seen a lot of people lending or just fully donating items to people trying to reach the final milestone. The community support is so amazing, I love how this site brings people together <3

3 billion seconds is 95 years, and battles definitely take much longer than one second. If it was just one HP per battle we'd all be dead by the time it was defeated.

Just got the staff, and now I'm just going to buy potions from the healing springs and sell them cheap. If your pet also dies in every battle, I recommend duo tabbing battledome/inventory.

Does anyone know if battling V is still going towards plot points? I am maxed oit this Chaper and using Cooling Ointment to heal prior to going back in. Today (and yesterday) I noticed that for Essence, no mote points are being added for gathering essence (I got a popup). It is still showing I am getting 10PPs for sticking through the battle w/V and my pet ends up @zero HP. I have NC AP and am @ 79358 / 80000 to get the very last 2 items. I HOPE we get points for the last Chapter and have no clue if any of the points it says I am getting will be added at the end. TNT is making things very confusing for me.

@poni: There is a cap of 370 points for essence collection per chapter (this is separate from 4000 cap). Normally you wouldn't go over the cap, because it takes exactly 7 days to get 370 (50 per day plus 20 bonus). I guess you are using a Plot Points Cookie, that's why you reach the cap for this chapter. You will be able to earn points for essence collection again on 9 June.

I don't know why this hasn't been mentioned yet, but you can withdraw before Vocivus kills you so you don't have to heal outside the BD (tanking a reflected hit and healing with a multi-use BD item is free). Withdrawals don't count towards your loss ratio, despite what the popup says. And the damage you dealt still counts for the milestones. You CANNOT get the initial 500 points this way, though. You need to die to Vocivus once to get 500 points.

So you'd go full attack with Warlock's Rage if you have it, then attack + freeze with Lens Flare, then full attack again, and then withdraw. You'll have to tank some reflected damage (next fight, instead of an attack item, use a healing item), but you can't possibly get sick with this method as long as you're using a 100% freezer, and if you can tank the reflected damage you won't need to heal your HP outside the battle either (ideally you'd have a 100% healer item)

@poni if you maxed out on chapter points, you won't get any more points for battling an enemy more than once. It's like people are saying, once you hit 100k there's no reason to keep going. No points ever get rewarded at a later point in time (except the glitched 500 points that should be awarded once TNT fixes the glitch), so if you don't see your points go up, you're not getting them. The 10 points message is, as usual, an oversight on TNT's part and doesn't reflect reality.

Im glad the boss battle lasted very long and his HP was buffed because I have a weak pet and it took me the full 7 days to finally hit 100k.

I hate how the damage milestones aren’t based on your pets strength.

They set an arbitrary max weekly plot point limit because people felt it was a chore or something but then they do this????? This is more a chore than whatever else we do for plot points.

I can honestly say I hated this week with the continuous battling. Im glad I got the final prize when I did though.

i got to the 25k prize and then i gave out, i hate battling i already put enough efford in the dome to last me throughout the year, this continuous battling was honestly exhausting and not enjoyable at all, but happy for the 5% of people who enjoys this sort of events tho.

i'm just glad this fricking thing is finally coming to a close. the last week can't come soon enough. glad i got the chance to play it since i missed the previous years, but if i'm fatigued now from only a month and a half i can't imagine longer time players.

I don't think even the most avid BDer enjoyed this event. It was just mindless grinding. I don't know what went through their heads when they made it. I guess at least the staff being obtainable by anyone is a silver lining, but man, even people with strong pets hated this. I can't even imagine doing 100k damage with a weak pet.

the way this was handled wasn't great, and the drastic under- and then over-estimating damage done by the playerbase was pretty silly, but it was still a good idea and i had fun. the changing reflection abilities also made it much more interesting than my usual bd tactic of repeteadly clicking the same three things

Shame, I made it to about 15k, but I hadn't even had the chance to build my pets weak pet into "passable" till yesturday. Part of me hopes it last one more week, but the other part of me is like "this wasn't worth it"

Figure out the problem... Apparently neopets didn't care if I simply refreshed the tab today; I needed to open a new/fresh tab and go to the page from there. That's pretty goofy and makes no sense.

I'm glad they healed him so people with jobs and lives could have a chance to get prizes but it really did break the fourth wall of it being a "community challenge" and instead turned him into a punching bag that will be up for a week no matter what. Think maybe having a max amount of damage a single player could do would have helped? I know some extremely avid BDers were trying to defeat him as fast as possible to make the 100k wand prize more exclusive and they gave up after the healing.

Looks like those that missed their chance on grinding out the 100,000 points of damage for the wand are out of luck.
