New Gallery Spotlight Avatar

A new avatar is available for the Gallery Spotlight! To get it, you simply must win the Gallery Spotlight. The avatar will show up on your list when you get your prizes.


Unfortunately, it is not retroactively awarded to prior Gallery Spotlight winners at this time. (And TNT hasn't said if it ever will be—but it should be, TNT, if you're reading!)

I've never even tried to enter the gallery spotlight.. but to not retroactively reward the winners with this is succcchhhh a shame. I'm so sorry, guys.

It better be! I've won twice; when they said the storytelling av wouldn't be retroactive I bent over backwards to get in on a 5th contest. Made it...and then they decided to award retroactively to everyone. I don't mind, but if they award avs for contests that occur rarely at the best of times then they better reward everyone who's achieved it.

They need to retroactively give all spotlight winners the avatars. Including site spotlight. And I say that as the first winner of that avatar

Not really, there's been plenty of recent-ish gallery spotlights that win with premade code and graphics. It's more about having a complete and/or unique collection.
(As someone who has been entering for over 10 years with a layout and graphics I made myself, it means nothing if it's not a topic/category they're looking for to highlight)

@nightshade they also insultingly picked at least 2 winners last year with no layout at all despite the contest rules stating

"Winners will be chosen based on quality, aesthetics, originality, and content."

Ehhh don't care for the green checkmarks on it.. would've liked it better without those.

My 2 gallery wins were for different galleries. The first was lunchboxes and the second was backpacks. Different layouts for each.

I think I stand corrected! My side account does have the shell of my lunchbox gallery on it, they must have allowed me to have the trophy display on my main. I can't even remember when it was, it was so long ago.

you can win more than once on the same account but it must be a new gallery

it will lock you off if it has the same gallery name as it sees it as a duplicate

Like people are going to throw away their decades-old award-winning gallery to start a brand new one from scratch to get that avatar.... Obviously, this should be retroactive.

Speaking honestly, I'm currently experiencing a glitch on my main where even if I WANTED to try to get the avatar again, I can't. I get text that simply says:

Your Gallery has already won the gallery spotlight.

Top moment playing neopets over the years was winning gallery spotlight though my gallery wasn't quite finished (still adding more items every year since 2013!) and my premade layout coding wasn't the greatest.
I hope that TNT would consider awarding the new avatar for past winners retroactively.

My gallery won the spotlight 2 years ago during December (spotlight number 1107). It would be nice if the avatar was retroactive 🙏

can we bring back the dude who decided to give map pieces numbers back into the brain room

whose bright idea was it to makr this avatar non-retroactive for something you can't win again

i say this as someone who never won this and don't plan to, hates the caption and storytelling ones, and am also still salty about the art gallery avatar, which at least can be re-entered. it's screwing over those that already put in so much work on their galleries

I hopoe they fix the retroactive thing. I had already won before so I dont think I am allowed to reenter (cause the difference now is just a bunch more of the same stuff rip). I just have to hope intime it will be for everyone.

So I can literally never get it because I've already won the gallery spotlight? The rules only allow one win per account, so I can never enter again -.- They should award it retroactively, by viewing your own trophy.

I love how the site punishes its players for playing the game. I already won the spotlight before, so I literally cannot submit my gallery again lol. What do you expect me to do, TNT?

@wishlist the rules actually don't have it at once per account. people can win again, and there are people with multiplier trophies (I've seen as high as a x3 but there may be higher)

per the rules you just have to have a new entry (new theme, layout, the whole package)

ohhh gallery is something i'm not gonna be able to win.. i used to have a plushie gallery but i sold everything in it because i felt like that's a very common/generic theme and i didnt even have any rare or special ones ^^;
that's the kind of thing you need to work on for a long time to have something worth showing off, and i didn't do that. and with the current economy it's hard to build a new one from scratch.

I won in 2010 and have been adding to my gallery since then. No way will I dismantle my gallery to try for another win - I like my theme too much.

@dakota try changing your gallery name. fwiw you can only re-enter if it's a new gallery (new theme, layout, the whole deal) not just the same thing again or an "updated" version of the previous win (like it has more items bc more time has passed or you made a new layout)

if changing the name doesn't work and it's truly a new gallery, you can submit a ticket to tnt to have them "reset" it (per an editorial last year i think? where someone wrote in about the same issue)
