Neopets.com Scheduled Downtime: Monday, May 11

UPDATE, ~11:18 AM NST: The downtime has concluded and the site is back up!


UPDATE, ~11:04 AM NST: The downtime has started.



TNT Luna has announced downtime for midday of Monday, May 11 (that's tomorrow!) for scheduled maintenance. The downtime is scheduled from 11am NST and will last "for about half an hour."

This translates to the following time zones:
  • North America Pacific - 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM
  • North America Mountain - 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM
  • North America Central - 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM
  • North America Eastern - 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM
  • Brazil BRT - 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM
  • Europe Western - 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
  • Europe Central - 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Europe Eastern - 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM
  • Hong Kong - 2:00 AM (12th) to 2:30 AM (12th)

I kinda wish they pushed this to Tuesday instesd when the new act would drop for some illogical reason. Something along the lines of "they're releasing something new around that time anyway so it makes more sense to have a downtime then", lol

I expect this to go flawless and have no chance of the downtime being extended, or having any site lag afterwards. It's Monday, what could go wrong?

If I were to guess, then my money is on them converting the Safety Deposit Box to follow the same format as the Closet. Thankfully JellyNeo has already found a way to make their Item Database link to the Closet properly, so I'm sure they'll be fine with the SDB too (the current style of which I still prefer, but that's me).

Site downtime is almost never required for new features, layout updates, code fixes, etc. That is a common misconception.

Usually it signifies work on backend infrastructure...server upgrades, database changes, and the like. These changes often may not even be noticeable from a user perspective.

New chapter didn't drop at 10, so I guess they'll wait until after the maintenance. This hopefully means they're beefing up resources so lag won't be as bad?

Quick Stock doesn't require the webpage to load once you click on the submmit command. At least It does for me :o

And It's been like that today, I think. Certainly, It was like that before this downtime.
