Chapter 13 is Live!

As of 10:00 AM NST, Chapter 13 of the plot is now live!

First things first, visit the hub and click into the story to begin reading Chapter 13.

The 4,000 plot point chapter limit is still in effect, and your point limit has been reset back to 0 for this chapter to earn more points. Enjoy earning plot points for the activities you want to participate in.

We will be making updates to our plot guide over the course of today.

Here's what's new, and live (keep watch on this list as we update):

4,000 point earning limit during Chapter 13, which should be 1 week long
Read all of Chapter 13 to earn +11 points
Reading page 10 of Chapter 13 will unlock Endure the Malevolent Being’s Barrage in the Battledome (with two new challengers) and at the NeoHospital
Continue collecting your Void Essences for +50 points each day (which does not count towards the chapter max!)
Volunteer at the Hospital, where shifts award +40 points each
Fight in the Battledome
A new achievement, When All Hope is Lost… is now unlockable by losing (or winning) to the new BD challenger
Continue earning points towards your Adventure Pass, if you have tiers left on the free track or have purchased the NC track
Puzzles of the Past is no longer giving plot points, and now awards Neopoints for completing a puzzle (we're working on reconfirming the item prizes)

You may also find a trip to the Healing Springs helpful! Not because there's anything plot-related there, but if you try to battle the new wave of challengers, you are likely not coming out unscathed...

To be fair, she drops most of her gear as prizes, so it's understandable that the fight is ridiculous and most people are not expected to win against that.

I believe the achievement says you get it by fighting her, not specifically losing. I know most people won't win, but are you saying that winning (on your first try) actually doesn't give you the achievement?

Anyway, it's not intended for you to be able to beat this fight, but there are reward drops for people who have the ability to do so.

Ah so instead of our misfits figuring out who the bad guy is and going to meet them there... she's just going to show up? Just.. like that? And such a shame that the Nyx vs. Vira fight was a wall of text rather than a proper comic. Really weird too, seeing how the rest of the chapter has visuals..

And there's our 'eldritch horror' that is totally not out of place in Neopia at all.. If the Darkest Faerie was the most powerful evil fairy.. then where was this one when titles were handed out?

@apophis324: Her version of wodf (Drakara's Wand) not only hits for the same amount of icons as the regular wodf (swapping phys damage for fire), but it also apparently has a random chance to freeze, and it's multiuse.

And you can get that as a drop.

So no, these weapons are intended to be rare.

Being wildly hard and unwinnable for most is very likely intentional. We still have 5 more chapters after this, can't let the big boss be defeated yet!

Well this is unfortunately insanely impossible for the vast majority of us. I've been on the site a long time but did not prioritize training because we didn't need it for so long and now even though I've been working on it I'm nowhere near 50,000 hit points worth of withstanding. Kind of a huge bummer.

For me, the Malevolent Being is showing 75,000 HP on extreme.

My BD pet is high enough to have easily beaten every other opponent on extreme as they haven't really been that 'extreme' but this is rather...excessive. lol Like others have said, her HP have probably been set as unwinnable for most on purpose.

One last note: I think they need a more honest "Difficulty" for the MB.

If you look at the 'Difficulty" for the Neopia Central Skirmish, it's 286 on extreme. The MB difficulty is listed at 100 on extreme. lol

Thanks to Hubrids Puzzle Box and Illusens Staff + Faerie Tabard blocking most of her damage (as well as I-Staff healing at low HP), I was able to knock down over 20k HP (this was on Easy where she has 50k). Unfortunately with her able to use multiple Positive Thinking and has a weapon that has a chance to Freeze, it was sadly only a matter of time before she froze me at low HP thus I-Staff couldn't heal me. Otherwise I think I might have been able to whittle her down after like 100+ turns as I-Staff healed me more than she could damage me. Oh well, dare to dream.

Ah, it seems to be her wand that has a chance to freeze. Other users have been using Explorers Whip and upon stealing it she no longer froze them thus, using a similar strategy to mine, was able to defeat her.

Explorers Whip, WoDF, Illusen Staff. I tried it all. Some that had luck had at least 4,000 HP, and 154 rounds.

If she didn't heal it might be doable for me, but she does heal... very annoying. I'm trying Illusen's Staff/U-Bend of Great Justice but stealing is a thing? I have the 100% stealing Heavry Robes of Theivery but I remember them not specifically fixing it... do I need to use the explorer's whip for the small chance to do other stealing items work?

RODN+WODF+Explorers Whip was what did it for me. Stack abilities, stuns, and hope for dark/fire until you can steal her other icon weapons. Once all that is left is amulet and wand, spam RODN + a constant. Swap to WODF under 25% and hope your health can keep up!

Update - I beat her! Snowager's Pendant is the GOAT, it plus Illusen's Staff and enough HP to tank her only remaining wind damage.

Err.. I won?!
On easy but honestly, I kinda cheesed it and it took me 10 attempts, the first try was so successful I thought it might be possible. I used Illusens Staff and Wand of the Dark Faerie (got those from the Faerie Festivals) with a pet that has high HP (2637) thanks to the lab ray, and even though I was constantly on the brink of losing eventually I made it. It got me the Study of the Elder Abyss Crystal and a Dark Faerie Apple.

Kinda cool that people ARE beating an intentionally impossible opponent! I like the switch up. Looking forward to beating up Tentavoid in future chapters

I think my pet is on the cusp of being able to beat her, but just doesn't have *quite* enough HP (1780) to ride WODF and Illusen's Staff alone through the fight. Tried like 5 times, each round lasting maybe 20-30 turns, but Explorer's Whip never once procced, and eventually I'd get overwhelmed by damage from the weapons I don't have the tools to block. Shame, I got her down by like 10000 HP.

I seem to be stuck in battle. She KO'd my battler. I was going to go heal and try again but the healing springs say I'm still in battle. Can't get the battle page to load back up again. Weird.

I tried twice on extreme and came up short. She froze me and I didn't heal so that was that. Then, I tried on easy and won on the first try. Hubrids Puzzle Box is a time saver and a game changer. One third of the malevolent HP gone early on. Used combos of WODF, IStaff, and Dark reflector to finish. WODF and IStaff together when my HP was low enough for the heal. Done in under 70 rounds and with half my HP left. I'm going to try extreme again tomorrow with a different strategy. Stealing I guess?

i wonder if there's a puzzle aspect to the fight, like we're supposed to figure out a trick to beat her - maybe a particular weapon, or fighting her with a grey yurble or blue aisha or something...? or if she's supposed to be (mostly) unbeatable for now until there's another plot development... probably the latter but you never know with neopets ...

big props to people with pets beefy enough to take her on!

i wonder why they didnt put the "difficulty" as something higher than 40... just forgot i suppose?

OMG, that battle took almost an HOUR! I got her down to 2011 Hp, but she kept healing and then I kept healing (mostly WoDF I think) and on and on and on. Finally, my wrist was so tired, plus I had already gotten up at one point just to stretch my legs, and I chose slightly lesser weapons and since we would get the achievement even if we lost the battle, I just gave up and let her win. ARRGH!

I have seen on the boards that using Explorers Whip might help you win. I looked and I have one in my SDB, so maybe I will try that if we have to battle her again?

REQUIRED WEAPONS: Explorers Whip, Illusens Staff, Snowager Pendant
HELPFUL WEAPONS: Hubrid Puzzle Box, (Any Freezer, preferably 100%)

TURN 1: Whip + HPB + Warlock Rage
TURN 2: Whip + Freezer + Lens Flare
TURN 3: Whip + HPB + (Any Ability)

"If you don't steal her Wand in these first 3 turns then quit and try again.
After you steal her Wand use I-staff + HPB + Burrow/shade/drain life
hopefully she will use her void gaze while you have a lot of HP.

After that you just use I-staff + Snowager Pendant until win

After you take her wand, the most damage she can do to you is 5 air and Summon Monoceraptor through the Istaff + Snowager Pendant, Which should be 270 damage. I don't think the fire from Summon Monoceraptor can be blocked. So at 1355 HP you will multiheal 271 HP when you are under 271 HP which gives you an easy win."

Note this will probably require quite a few tries to do as Explorers Whip only has a 5% steal.

@Jellyneo - I tried to watch an Ad to get the extra reward, but even though a banner popped up where an Ad would go, none showed up.

I closed the page when the countdown got to 1, because I didn't want to get the reward without having seen an Ad, but eventually, I decided to play without the extra reward... and they gave me more Neopoints and a Doglefox Painting.

Now, it says "You've reached the daily limit of rewards for today. You can continue playing, but will not receive any more rewards."

Is that a glitch?

Like, this ain't even Snowager or Sid on Extreme dificulty In which they deal massive damage beyond what our levels limit us, so that gives the advantage for the veterans to exploit their damage by using reflectors....

But, Malevolent Being's damage Is limited just like ours, so It doesn't matter, either way the match will be excessive long. Even with the HPB thingy that sucks 1/3 of her hp It's still 33k something HP or less.

Unless...... you wouldn't think TNT would Introduce some whacky weapon like Sid's Ultimate Chive of Death, right?

TNT Is already very stingy with SuAPs. That doesn't sound like a possibility o .o

Maybe they will introduce a weapon later down the line to insta-kill the Malevolent Being, which only works on her and doesn't yield any rewards (to keep it fair for those that can beat her). Wasn't there a weapon that dealt more damage specifically to Malum in The Wraith Resurgence too? Something like that..

(Although, looking at JellyNeo's guide on what rewards she can drop, they don't seem to be TOO great.. Nothing that would be worth too much. So allowing for reward drops after insta-killing her with this hypothetical future weapon wouldn't be the worst in the world either.)

@apophis324: I saw some players mentioned that her wand is among the rewards she drops. JN didn't indicate the wand as 1-P opponent only either, so perhaps JN is waiting for further proof to add it to their list.

Confirming for Puzzles of the Past that it is the same prizes, and as far as I can tell you can keep playing the low level to get prizes! I won the low level seven times and got a prize from the current prize list each time.

@stormmonarch: Yeah, someone else mentioned it here too. If that is the case, then not getting drops from an insta-kill weapon would be fairer. But I could also see it being an oversight on TNT's part and they actually planned to release the wand as a prize shop reward, alongside the Wand of Dark Faerie, for quite a lot of points.
In any case, even if I had access to the "necessary" tools to take her down, my pet still wouldn't be powerful enough ^^

Given the Achievement name is 'When All Hope is Lost", it's just a standard impossible boss fight. They've done this before, and the solution was a special weapon that did decent damage when used on most opponents but was fatal to the otherwise-unkillable special enemy.

Hilariously, you'd think I'd be so used to these types of fights due to my experience in Final Fantasy where you fight a boss and it's intended to be un-winable (by starter standards). But nah, I got jumpscared by 50k HP and an OHKO from this faerie.

I feel like it's gonna be one of those situations where Ozzy is going to help Vira, but this time, to stop the threat, maybe redeem herself. He's even shown saying "you already are beautiful" and hinting that he never cared about her looks, just like she never cared about his own (even though she was using him) and was also just being strung along. And yeah, probably fight a version that's either weaker, or that may even be a site-wide collaboration to defeat (kinda like Obelisk(?) from another plot).

I think it's kind of crap if they have changed the puzzles of the past prize pool to not have the PaintBrush Coin anymore. I did all 3 puzzles every day last week and I didn't get one. I also wish if they are doing x2 prizes to premium then it should be 2 different prizes instead of 2 of the same.

Yeahhhh I am not going to beat the Malevolent Being anytime soon. I'd need about 400 more HP on my battle pet to even have a shot. Plus my battle set isn't quite ready (have Illusen's Staff and the Explorer's Whip so I'm 2/3 there-the other recommended weapon would take a little bit more saving up)

All in all, I'm being reminded that I should've been more consistent in training HP because I'm SURE I could be up there by now)

@apophis324: I don't think TNT plan to add her wand to the prize shop. Herdy confirmed with TNT that the prize shop is final and no more items will be added. It seems to be a very rare drop, and even if she is beatable, I doubt many people will get the wand (since we have a item prize cap daily). Also, based on the test account, her HP may be reduced to 5000 later.

good grief, so many whiny crybabies in this community. this is meant to be hard!! there's value in grinding in a game!! my strongest pet has 250 HP, I will never in a million years be able to defeat Drakara and that is FINE. not everything has to be handed to the player on a silver plate. not sure if related or if anyone has posted this before but if your trying for Gourmet club, you can feed your pet, Volunteer at the Hospital, then feed your pet when shift is over and volunteer again and repeat every three hours. That's a possible 7 foods a day until event ends.

Everyone who's saying the wand is a potential prize for beating her - has anyone actually seen PROOF of that? There seems to be no sign of the wand's existence outside of that battle literally anywhere. None in the AH, none on the TP (where people will oft post items just to show off), none in galleries, no videos, no nothing. I'm currently rather strongly doubting it's an actual drop, and not just rumors, people saying they used it (after stealing it), and people just straight up lying. So. Calm down?

@flairina: it is listed as a potential prize from her at the Reserve Barracks. Click the ! mark (you may need to click a few times). It may have a very small drop rate and it makes sense that none has been dropped yet. As of writing, we only beat her 5434 times. If the drop rate is 0.01% then the number of times are too low to observe even one drop.

Finally beat Drakara thanks to the comments here. Note: make sure you aren't using Faerie Abilities that do icons she reflects, and check if you've stolen her wand because the whip doesn't break on steal.

@stormmonarch Okay, then the drop rate is so low, and the requirement ceiling so high, that the wand is still not going to be the "next meta" because there won't even be >10 of it in circulation, if any. TNT lately has been sloppy enough I wouldn't even doubt that got stuck there by complete mistake. Either way, it still simply does not matter.
