Act IV of the Plot is Live!

LAG ALERT: Yes, the lag is strong.

We're getting the classic Neopets plot day experience.

As of 10:00 AM NST, the plot is again live! ~~(Okay well kinda not—the whole site is blank at the moment.)~~ It's back!

First things first, visit the hub and click into the story to begin reading Chapter 12.

The 4,000 plot point chapter limit is still in effect, but now on a weekly basis as chapters will be debuting weekly. In turn, some activities can generate "unlimited" plot points—up to 4,000 in total over the next week. So, enjoy earning plot points for the activities you want to participate in.

(NOTE: Remember when the plot was accidentally reactivated in November 2025? Well, if you participated in that, you may find that your chapter 12 points meter is already partially filled up with any points you gained during that period. UPDATE: Some Neopians are reporting that these November points were wiped!)

We will be making updates to our plot guide over the course of today, including new information about the Adventure Pass.

Here's what's new, and live (keep watch on this list as we update):

4,000 point earning limit during Chapter 12, which should be 1 week long
Read all of Chapter 12
And as you read Chapter 12, complete Puzzles of the Past (see our guide for puzzle solutions)
Collect your Void Essences for +50 points
Volunteer at the Hospital, unlock a new shift slot after reading Chapter 12, page 37 (this is the first Act IV shift); shifts award +40 points each
Fight in the Battledome, unlocking Act IV's Altador Assault II after reading Chapter 12, page 37
Prior episode activities (Lost in the Dark, Doglefetch, Attack on Altador) no longer offer plot points
Lots of new item prizes available in the Prize Shop
New achievements for Act IV have been added, with two available to unlock
An Adventure Pass is available for reaching plot point thresholds, and additional prizes can be unlocked through NC items.
Several new bundles are for sale in the NC Mall, discounted for today, but will be available until the last chapter:

Make sure you finish reading Chapter 12 entirely before playing any of the puzzles a second time! If you do not complete your chapter first, you will be locked out of progressing until TNT fixes that bug.

Literally the first thing I get when visiting the regular plot hub page is VISIT THE NC MALL...
The other day I caved and actually did spend some money on NC. 1000 NC. That's 10 bucks, more than a month of Premium. But as soon as it took me back to the NC Mall I got the pop-up again: DISABLE YOUR AD-BLOCKER OR BUY PREMIUM!! I'm so sick of this greed.

I actually really wanted a jigsaw puzzle game on Neopets (it's my go-to game on a certain dragon site and I prefer it over most other games)! xD But I admit, I don't like this actual layout for one. I like it better when the pieces are all out already and you just gotta put 'em together.

Also yeah, the stories are definitely taking a while. I like the history but the small amounts of visuals we get isn't cutting it, but also the formatting needs work. The lack of spacing makes it hard to keep track of where you're at if you look away for a moment or need to get up and return. xD

It also doesn't help that the bits of visual art we get don't match the story. The Chomby bully is supposed to be pastel, but the picture shows them to be blue, while the Quiggle is green instead of spotted.. If the art can't be bothered to keep up with the story, then what hope do we have? XD

The chapter 12 point meter is strange for me. It's sitting at 20 points, but I have fought a couple of fights, finished reading the comics, clicked void and finished a couple of old shifts.

Anyone else stuck with low points on Chapter 12? It's on the main hub page below the void collecting information.

Man, 3 puzzles in a row.. the last one took me over 15 minutes I think. Having no reference picture is annoying XD I love jigsaws but 3 in a row just to get through the story was a bit much. The layout is meh, the last puzzle barely fit on my screen even in full-screen mode, and there's no pause button when you're on full-screen... but judging by the other comments I should just be glad I was on desktop.

Neopets was so slow that I switched out to a different tab after clicking the link for the puzzle, and when I returned to the tab it already had 3 minutes on it. I'm annoyed now after getting a silver trophy. I'm not going to do any more of this today.

.You cannot do the puzzle on mobile at all @fionathehippo - I'm at work and everything just kept glitch moving around and then disappearing. It's really ridiculous. Everything is lagging super badly and broken and it's just bonkers to me to push all of this at once and not assume it would overtax the site, especially with so many new things to do. And nothing is explained well at all - I went looking for my adventure pass item and had no idea it just automatically applied (like, thank you but also very difficult to deal with everything being so fundamentally broken).

It's definitely possible to do the puzzles on mobile. At least I completed all of them on Firefox mobile. It's just very very very very annoying. Took me almost 30min to complete the last one.

Also, the battle pass is not only terrible, but also badly implemented as well. And, like others mentioned here, it's impossible to even know the difference between the $13 and the $24 passes.

- My plot points are stuck at one. I've read several pages and collected void essences, but nothing has changed in the bar on the hub.

- The books read by my Neopets have DISAPPEARED, even though their intelligence remains the same.

- In addition, the site is crashing A LOT.

- Some users are reporting that they can't solve the puzzle on their phones/other devices.

comic and writing actually pretty good, i like the short story format as a means to cover longer sequences. the moral of the story here is "always trust the dog"

i'm so notoriously bad at puzzles but at least i can play the puzzles. as opposed to volunteering. all of my pets are stuck in jobs they've already finished

@helovias you get an avvie when you buy the Adventure Pass. Not sure if its both tiers. the Pass is worth the money IMO just for all of the rare items that came with it. but I do see why people would be upset with such a "giveaway". Just gave paying players millions of NP more. Seems like it could backfire to make a tier system within your already paying players. Sure some will jump higher for FOMO but many might be turned off.

Well this is just the worst. I cannot complete the puzzle, I have 6 pieces left and I keep trying over and over to put them in the obvious places but it won't let me and I've been trying for a long time. It won't let me continue with anything until I finish the puzzle.

Queen_megs are you doing the puzzle on the plot page or on the puzzles page? If on the puzzles page you have to do it within the story comic not on the separate tab.

After I finish the puzzle on ch30, I click "next" and on the ch31 page I have this "Looks like there are some events you missed! Be sure to read all the previous pages in this Chapter before coming back!" message under the "Luxinia and Baelia attempt to understand..." line, with the "next" button greyed out. No clue what I've missed! I've read all the pages and done the first and second puzzle...

what a complete and utter disappointment, of course unless you're buying NC plot passes and such. Players that can't afford to dump money into this ridiculously long plot event and have played from the beginning are getting the brown end of the stick. No need to mention the incredible lag and being kicked out in the middle of going through the copious amounts of pages of dialogue. Real nice TNT

I don't have much interest in the plot as an event except for the lore, so I actually like having a lot to read rather than everything be super rushed and cut short. I'm hoping each chapter has this quantity of story, it would motivate me a lot more to be actually invested in it. Big lore dump per week and puzzles intuitive enough that I don't need to look up the answer on JN, and enough time to grind for prizes if I feel like it, and I'm happy.

I don't care about the NC stuff, though I do wish that if they were going to do a battlepass they could have the free one extend points wise beyond where completionists/ppl with close to or max points so far would just get everything at this point in the plot anyway. I don't want to spend NC so I guess the battlepass is not for me lol, since I clicked "claim" and apparently am already done with the NP portion... Guess I don't get to play that game. I'm one of the apparently rare folks who like a battlepass as a concept, so boo hoo for me I guess.

Just about 3 hours to get through everything (besides battling) with this lag though, and doing the last 2 puzzles taking 21min and 46min each because I didn't want to grab my mouse so I used my laptop trackpad, and decided to challenge myself by not looking at the preview. I may have found out that I'm kinda bad at jigsaw puzzles, but I enjoyed the process even if my back did not enjoy me hunching over my laptop for so long oops-

We've waited for months and expected something really exciting would be added to the plot point prize shop for the end...they hardly added anything at all??? Rainbow Sticky Hand stamp was at least an exciting addition last time. There is nothing of that caliber added this time. Looks like they put all the truly enticing prizes as paid adventure pass rewards. The unevenness of the prize distribution is extremely disappointing. It's fair to add stuff to try and make some money (I get the site needs money to run, I pay for premium and buy NC) but it seems to have come completely at the expense of the regular game play rather than just being an NC bonus. And the price for the adventure passes is way too high.

I get that Neopets doesn't make a lot of money overall, but I would have been ok with waiting on new content in favor of server upgrades so the entire site doesn't break each plot update.

Reasonably slow is fine and expected, even other popular games with a lot more funding/income have that with major updates. But actual breakage every time is getting tiring.

I don't know what the TNT short story summaries said, but that is basically all that happened for 37 pages.

I completed everything in fits and starts and it took practically all day to accomplish. Clicking on the void essences was nearly futile as they would just hang around for several minutes. I think I will get a couple of those Landelbrot thingamajigs because I cannot see myself doing that each day.

The hospital was a losing battle. I had to refresh the page over and over each time I got one pet to volunteer before it would allow another one in. 9 pets volunteering. Error messages galore. Not fun.

Silver trophy on the puzzles. Call me crazy but they were kind of fun for me. Unfortunately, I started before the guide was up so I had no idea what the finished pic was supposed to look like. I collected all the edges first and went from there. Also, I channeled my inner dude (or just my husband perhaps?) and did not read any directions, so I did not actually know there were controls to make life easier. LOL.

BD. New challenger looks cool but is NOT. Went with Vira at 1000 HP, 15k NPs, 1 wave, 40 plot points. Better deal.

Cannot open the REWARDS tab. But, from perusing JN's database, I don't see many new items that are very exciting. I was going to buy the new books, but turns out books read is glitched anyway. My pet has read many many books but it says 0. read. Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Premium user plus using Plot Points cookie. According to my calculations, I was not awarded all the points I should have been.

All in all an embarrassment.

There's 3 of us trying to share a computer in this house to do the plot on our own accounts and this is impossible. It took me literally 3 hours to get through the story and do the puzzles say nothing of getting through the battledome fights or putting my pet in the hospital. My Mom and sister are waiting to see if things/lag improve before they try. For the puzzle in full screen, the preview button and sending the loose pieces back button seem to be missing, that made it a lot harder since I'm half blind and needed the full screen to see the pieces better lol

Have Neocash items ever been priced that didn't end in a 0 or 5? Why are the Adventure Passes priced to end with a 9? Even if you buy Lukewarm Left-Over Pizza for 5 NC you still have 4 NC which is useless. Would have to wait for another randomly priced NC item not ending with 0 or 5 otherwise you're stuck with unused funds indefinitely.

It's still laggy but I think chapter plot points might be fixed. It's more or less 95% what my prize shop plot points are now.

Lag seems a teensy bit better. Not enough to marathon BD though.

Some other thoughts:
* GEEZ, 37 pages? And even if we take out the puzzles & quick cutscene pages, most of them are Neopedia Articles. Now look, I enjoy reading the Neopedia and learning more about Neopia's characters;and I will say what TNT have written is good (I liked the alternate perspective angle they did for the latter half). But the problem is this isn't new entries to the Neopedia, this is a plot, and plots have mostly gone with the rule show don't tell. Is it neat when we get the character's thoughts on things? Sure, but this is supposed to be an interactive event where the story is the frame thus the story should be presented in a cohesive but quick way; and for the most part that means we don't hear internal thoughts on every major event that happened. You want want to keep the story quick and snappy so that the player can get to the interactive parts.
* Before moving on, let me also say I know this is not what the new TNT wanted to happen and they're just both making the best of a situation that got out of control to wrap things up matching as close to their original vision. I get it and I'll support them where I feel I can, however I'm not going to hold back criticism. This is a mess they got themselves into, they chose not to follow how past plots have been done and got in over their heads. Also what's not helping is the increased monetization and how closely integrated they've made it (especially concerning the Plot Points).

* So that all said, JIGSAW PUZZLES?!

You took a long hiatus to work on the plot, plenty of time to make puzzle steps, and you start off with three jigsaw puzzles. Oh, but not just any jigsaw puzzles, but ones with a lot of pieces: first 100, second 150, third 200. I know the general tricks in completing jigsaw puzzles (start with the edges, then try grouping together pieces that form specific areas), but still it took me a while and I wasn't having any fun; especially since I was being timed! Like, at the very least the the jigsaws should have been smaller, like maybe 50, 75, & 100. However what would have been better is puzzles where doing it tells the story. Some ideas:

1. A paint-by-numbers where we re-create Ozzy's paintings. Like for how many years Ozzy had to sell his paintings to pay rent have a painting for each year. The first one we do is simple, but as we complete one after another we see them get slightly more complicated showing his progression as a painter (you could also have them lose more and more color to show the deterioration of his view of the world). Then you can do a quick reprise for the page where Ozzy makes Vira the field of flowers painting.
2. Another game involving Styx and his collection of sticks, maybe organizing them to find one Styx likes the most which then leads to Styx finding the Grey PB Plushie.
3. When Ozzy and Vira goes looking for Styx, make it a maze where we control Ozzy. From Neopia Central to the Haunted Woods, we control Ozzy looking around finding all the clues (footprints, sticks, bits of fur, etc.) to advance to the next area. It then ends to Ozzy getting to where the Acrimonious Paint Brush is. You could then do a reprise of this maze for Styx's perspective, following scents of Vira & the plushie ending with Styx falling into the whole.

Not only would these steps be more interesting (and fun), but they get you more involved in the story as you're playing out parts of it.

Anyone else having issues accessing the Rewards section? I wanted to check my achievements/the new items in the shop but it literally won't load. Like, the site is slow yes but other pages will load, but that page just will not load at all. I get an error message.

I hate the way they force you to do the jigsaw puzzles to get through the story. I had a miserable time completing them. They really should have just made a SKIP button for those jigsaw puzzles.

I don't want to read 37 laggy pages of a story I don't care about, all to face a battledome challenger I can't see because battledome won't load.

The rest of my pets are stuck volunteering, and I can't get them out. Nothing but errors when I try to get them to leave their shifts.

Collecting void essence was the only thing I was able to do yesterday, and even that took almost an hour because of the lag.

And Neopets wants players to PAY for this horrible experience? Just NO.

This plot has dragged on for years now. The story is so boringly predictable I don't have any interest in it anymore. TVW just keeps getting worse and I'm really disappointed with it. I just want it to be over with.

Got the same error where the plot tells me I need to "finish / read previous parts" BUT I'M ALREADY CAUGHT UP and then they don't tell you what you're missing or where and you have to dig through all the dookie-d purple prose and jank art again.

Hate this. Worse with the lag. I have a life and work I can't spend three hours at my desktop struggling with a stupid 200 piece puzzle which progress I CAN'T SAVE.

Has there been any official word from TNT on the lag? Cause it took me ALL afternoon yesterday to manage to get through the story, battledome, and collect the void essences + hospital volunteering.

What normally takes maybe like an hour? Took nearly 6 hours, due to the lag.

ATP I can't wait for this plot to be over and I hope they stick to simple events like the Negg Hunt and Faerie Fest and never do another plot like this ever again.

I just read what Pikachu wrote (extremely valid criticisms btw!) and seeing that there’s TIMED puzzle sections, specifically jigsaws, yeah I’m not completing any of this until there’s some update to them or a skip button added because I HATE. DESPISE. LOATHE doing puzzles under a time limit. My brain doesn’t work well under pressure of any kind and will panic if a time limit is placed upon me.
So that’s great. Thanks for that, TNT. Can’t even play the plot because I know I’ll panic.

No no, solarboyaaron, the puzzles aren't timed in the sense that you have to complete them within a certain time limit. There's just a timer that keeps track of how long you took. So yes, if you want the gold trophy, you have a bit of a time crunch, but otherwise you can take as long as you need

I am genuinely thinking about canceling my premium subscription over this. Why should anyone be giving you, TNT, money when this is the product we are being given? @ shaymusall: It's absolutely a slap to the face of the players, but no one cares to do anything about it. If you bring up how poorly of a job the new TNT is doing, you'll have people make jabs at your mental health and say " The site isn't meant for you.". It REALLY makes you miss the old Viacom days, when TNT actually cared about the site and it's players.

The lag did not help, but even without it it's still way too much text to dump all at once for the story, I get the feeling they took the last hiatus to compress the remainder of the plot in order to take as little time as possible.

Also after reading I noticed how Vira keeps being portrayed in the context of her being distracted and having to suppress her emotions to do her job, and the last part of the chapter reminding us she is just as much of a pawn as Ozzy. I doubt they're gonna try to cram in a redemption story with how little time we have left, but they seem to keep the idea open that she's not pure evil, just kind of a jerk.

More complaints that may have already been voiced:
The puzzle does not have a reset button. You instead need to quit without saving. ...but if you DO accidentally save, then you need to finish that attempt.
Also, I realized that it randomizes the shape of the puzzle pieces, so you can't learn that.

I seem to have a disconnect on my points and it's annoying me. On Neopets it says I have 417/4000 points for this section, but for some reason on HERE it says I have 307/4000. So I made a mistake somewhere, but, my total points matches on both this site and on Neopets, so I have no idea what I mucked up or where. I know it doesn't matter as long as the overall total matches but, tis bothering me. A lot.

Hopefully they get this fixed soon! I don't really care about the plot, but I'd like the points for the shop. At least the hospital is still working (and I can see the BD, though I didn't do any battles yet).

Also, I'm not the target audience and wasn't gonna get it anyway (casual neopian), but with the exchange rate that $25 pass would be about $34 here lol
I do find it a little... strange? that they made it 2400NC when the closest you can buy is 2200. Unless you had 200NC leftover from something, you'd have to get that and the 500, which would leave you with 300 extra... which might get you browsing...

Things appear to be working again.

The point shop is junk. I bought the Doglefox Collectible Charm, Nyx and Ozzy Stamp, and Faerieland Clouds Foreground. Plus, I've already got all of the useful items from before.

I suppose they'll add more before the plot ends, but at this rate, I'm gonna end up just buying up a big stash of MechaBerries. 😂

alltimemarr - I had to re-read Chapter 12 after the downtime (obviously much quicker to do 2nd time around!) but after that everything more or less worked fine. Only problem I have is the puzzles - most of the time I cannot use the "click and shift" method of positioning the pieces, occasionally it works but if I pause play and come back to it it stops again. The only way it works is to load all the jigsaw pieces onto the board - total nightmare when there are 200 of them! Managed to solve the puzzle but it took ages and a whole day of pausing and then dipping back into it every now and then. Love

glitches - swear I could hear them giggling in the background!

xxsinger - If you are totally shutting down then click "Pause" and choose "Save and Suspend" then you can come back safely after closing out, via the Games Menu (which is quicker than via the Chapter one) Good luck.
