Companion App: Notifications, Daily Ad Reward, and Bonus Scratchcards

The latest update for the Neopets Companion App added app notifications, daily ads, and bonus scratchcards.

Notifications
The app now has the option to turn on notifications if you'd like for the following:

When your dailies are ready again
Reminders to play games
Alerts when your pets are hungry

Daily Ad Rewards
For Neopians without an active Premium subscription, the app will also now offer access to the Daily Ad Reward, and will offer ads for spinning the wheels again or getting free scratchcards.

Bonus Scratchcards
The Happy Valley and Deserted Fairgrounds Kiosks now offer you free scratchcards everyday! After scratching your first scratchcard for the day, you'll be offered a second scratch for free (and a third scratch for the Happy Valley Kiosk). You can either use the card you just purchased, or any scratchcard from your inventory will also work.

Premium subscribers can immediately scratch for free, and users without a subscription can watch an ad to get the free scratches.

I just checked my companion app and I don't see those changes. I checked if an update of the app was available and nope, no updates. I'm on Android.

@iamsmokeandmirrors: These are in version 1.5.0, which just went out a day or so ago. (You can see your installed version on the initial loading screen, or in settings.)

@snickerpants we don't know! none of the changes so far were teased in advance, they've all just been surprise updates. it does seem like they're invested in the app though so hopefully more features are coming soon!

Maybe they should work on fixing the tales of dacardia bug that deleted peoples accounts before adding features to other apps.

Does anyone even use this app? You can't do a significant amount of dailies on it (no groom / play / customize options on the pets for questlog either). It's completely useless for me since spinning wheels / scratchcards is a one and done thing I could just as easily do on browser. What the heck does this app offer that I can't do without it?

@neo111186 exactly what @lizymarie_css said. You can at least earn 25k NPs daily, plus they are also part of the neopass quest log, so that makes another 5k plus one Item, and If done along with FF there's another extra 10k for daily completion (along with FF's 5k plus Item

); and just like FF has Its seasonal events, TaDa has Its own In the form of either Donation Drive or... Idr how Is It called which Is the same but Instead you are fighting some BD challenger, though you do exactly the same as In a Donation Dome

And part of the ongoing Issue Is that a lot of TaDa players are missing out because of this dung glitch that obliterated all of our progress

@maninshi I *think* neo111186 is referring to the companion app as not being useful, rather than the games like Dracardia and Fragments. I, personally, have yet to see a reason to bother with the companion app at all, and still suspect it's a way for neopets to work around people on the main site using adblockers all the time. A lot of apps for things, even the actually useful ones, tend to start out with fewer ads to entice people to use them- especially if there is something they are required for, like a remote garage door opener (ask me how I know lol), that they can't easily be removed from. Then over time they, for lack of the actual term, "en-dung-ify", and have more and more intrusive ads that can't be avoided. I'd be surprised if this doesn't happen with the neopets companion app, especially with all TNT's nagging to turn off adblockers for the main site.
