PAX East Recap + TVW Update + RIC Giveaway!

The Void Within Update
One bit of news from the panel we'd like to highlight is a slight update on The Void Within plot, which has been paused since September. At the panel, TNT shared a logo and some cryptic updates for the upcoming final episode "Pentimento of the Painted," which will return "in 1 - 2 months":


- Final leg of the plot had a great amount of planning on the character and Battledome designs
- Plot to return in 1 - 2 months
- The last episode of the plot will culminate with a major change to the world of Neopia...
- Leading to new features and the return of a feature fans haven't seen in years?!??!

I wonder what feature could be coming back...? That said, I do really wish they would tell us this stuff on the site, I wish the new features section was easier to navigate to and I wish they actually used it.

Plot will return in 1-2 months? Guys.. That's the Altador Cup timeslot. No way the plot will return during the Altador Cup. I'd sooner believe it if it's 3-4 months.
Major changes to the world of Neopia? Will there be destroyed lands? Will everything turn grey permanently? Will they update the Explore feature to make it more PC-unfriendly? Only time will tell..
And the return of a feature fans haven't seen in years? Hmmm. Daily Dare, Games Master Challenge, KeyQuest, Random Contest, Lenny Conundrum, Defenders of Neopia. That's a few examples. But it's probably going to be something pointless like.. Utility Fish or something

Oh! OR! Since they're using the word "pentimento", which Google Translate doesn't know as an English word, but as an Italian word, paired with Zaira's sudden inability to speak regular English... maybe they're finally bringing foreign languages back to Neopets?

"Pentimento refers to the reappearance of original drawn or painted elements in a painting that an artist previously covered over."

Probably in reference to Baellia being returned to her original light faerie form. Maybe the yurble will be un-greyed too.

Idk what feature could be coming back. I think the Defenders appeared in one of the comics, so that's a possibility. Their focus on nostalgia for some reason makes me think of the time machine that used to be in Tyrannia, but I'm not sure you'd call that a site feature. (I've always hoped they'd find a fun way to bring it back though).

@bspiral: Is that what it means? Huh.. I found the translation from Italian to English being repentance. I figured that would be in line with Ozzy finally realising that Nyx wasn't the bad person he makes her out to be. I like your exaplanation too though!

@apophis324 According to the release notes, the plot takes place before the Altador Cup. They will probably postpone the Cup until August.

In 2024 they postponed the AC to well after June to accommodate the plot. In 2025 they cancelled the AC to accommodate the plot. In 2026 I suspect they'll go back to the 2024 version of accommodating the plot

such a long wait and it's already the final chapter of the plot? what on earth were they working on? feels like, even though it took so long, there really wasn't much to do in this plot. i was hoping for something more.
but i get the people who just want it to be over too sad that that's how it was handled

I've always been super curious as to what happened to Nyx and Ozzy's parents as well as how Ozzy turned grey to begin with, so I hope we get to find out more when the plot returns. And, of course, it would be nice to see Baelia finally get her wings back

I'm also really curious to know if Jennumara the dark faerie is somehow involved in everything turning grey or if we'll get to see what she looks like. We did see a glimpse of her silhouette in Act 2 of the plot so maybe we'll learn more about her later on.

I'm excited to see everything TNT has in store and I hope they bring back Lutari Island

They revealed the villain in the epilogue comic of the 2023 faerie festival, so I don't think they were too worried about the art being a spoiler (https://www.drsloth.com/view/232595/). You can also see the outline in Baelia's flashback.

With all this faerie stuff abounding, I'd guess something to do with them, though realllllly want to go to Lutari Island

@ajthesquirrel I think the dark faerie in Baelia's flashback was different from the one controlling Vira and Ozzy, since Drakara is the one we saw at the end of the 2023 Faerie Festival who is working with Vira and Ozzy, whereas Jennumara is the one who cursed Baelia

I remember TNT saying that "bad things come in threes," but now I don't know if they meant Ozzy + Vira + Drakara.
Or if the main villains are actually a trio.

In the last comic before the first hiatus, there were already two glasses stained with lipstick. I suspected Drakara + The Darkest Faerie.

Based on the theory that it's a trio, I would be very happy with Drakara + The Darkest Faerie + Jennumara.

Ozzy and Vira are clearly pawns in this chess game.

I wonder if the twist will be that Luxinia and Baelia are sisters? And both will rule New Faerieland when it's put on the Neopia world map.

My theory is that they were two halves of the same being; I once had a whole theory written out about it but didn't save it. It essentially went that when Jennumara took away Baelia's magic she stored it in a crystal until she was ready to use it. Well that time didn't arrive when the events of the Faeries' Ruin occurred and the crystal with Baelia's magic was lost with the fall of Faerieland. However, when the spell that petrified the Faeries was undone it had a unique effect on Baelia's magic, turning it into a Faerie: Luxinia. This would explain why Luxinia has no memory; as for why there are others who "remember" Luxinia, it is actually Baelia they're remembering but Luxinia forming into her own Faerie had a memory ripple effect on several people's perception where some "remember" Luxinia in Baelia's place. It might also explain Luxinia's unique powers: she has no "identity" tying her down thus is able to dream of alternate realities, and she has no memories of her own thus is able to experience other's.

@pikachu315111 I like the theory, but I think they might not develop Luxinia as much, since Ferie Fragments hasn't fully explored her story yet. And as far as the story in the game left off, her memory loss is related to Xandra.

My knowledge on Luxinia is limited to what's on JN's Book of Ages, so I possibly say this without full context on how Luxinia's amnesia has been related to Xandra.

My theory did say Luxinia came into her Faerie form due to Xandra's petrification spell on the Faeries being undone. This may sound like me grasping straws to keep my theory "alive", but I could see them drawing the revelation "Baelia and Luxinia were once one" out. Heavily imply a connection between Baelia and Luxinia but don't go into details, maybe that Baelia needs Luxinia's support in order to move on from her current state to reclaim a new name & power. Then when they continue the story in Faerie Fragments they can have a later story point being Luxinia needs something from another Faerie, eventually figuring out that other Faerie is "Baelia" (as for what that something is I could come up with several ideas, likely something involving hidden memories). They could then have the reveal of them being once one, but by then "Baelia" would be known as her new identity while it would be Luxinia's turn to move forward by actualizing into a real Faerie with had earned her own identity.
