"February Drops" Email Going Out

TNT has sent out an email update this morning with a summary of what's recently launched and what's coming soon to the site!

Here are some of the highlights—most of which is coming soon, despite the current tense used in the email:

Varwolf Accessibility Improvements
Varwolves have become cheaper to obtain with the recent update allowing the Spooky Foods required for the questline to restock in Spooky Foods. In addition, it sounds like morphing potions are coming soon:

We’re making it easier than ever to discover and customise Varwolf! New items are restocking in the Spooky Food shop, Varwolf morphing potions are available in a variety of colours, and more painting options are on the horizon.

Bookshelf Collection Update
The Neopian Book Award sounds like it'll be getting some updates, with a new design, the ability to search and sort what your pet has read, and more rewards for reading:

A modernised, mobile-friendly Bookshelf feature is on its way! Enjoy a fresh design, new search and sorting options, and earn rewards as you track your Neopet’s reading progress.

Wheel of Monotony NP Sink
In short, spend NP to make the Wheel of Monotony spin faster so you can enjoy the recent prize pool refresh:

You can now “Grease the Wheel of Monotony” by spending Neopoints to make the wheel spin faster. Enjoy quicker results and help keep Neopia’s economy balanced!

Premium Scratchcard Prize Pool Update
Premium Scratchcards will be getting a prize pool update soon, which was announced recently via Release Notes as well:

Premium members can look forward to a refreshed scratchcard prize pool, with new booktastic books, rare stamps, exclusive recolours, and more.

In addition to the coming soon updates above, the following recent updates were also highlighted:

Plus, some merch updates are highlighted:

  • The Void Within booster set for the Neopets Battledome TCG went live with 232 new cards to collect, purchasable at your local game stores, UpperDeck.com and Amazon
  • Wraith-themed merch (ita bag and Nintendo Switch cases) available at It's My Obsession
  • CPTNAlex launches their Neopets-themed gaming controllers (for PS5, Xbox, and Switch 1 & 2) today
  • The legacy edition of Neopets Monopoly is still available to pre-order over on Neopets Shop (ships July 2026)

Logically speaking, wouldn't spinning a wheel faster make it spin longer as well?
by duskshadowbrony on February 5, 2026 10:22 AM NST
oh my, will books be even more inflated and expensive?
by a_holly22 on February 5, 2026 10:27 AM NST
Interesting that it says Varwolf MPs are already available in a variety of colours.
The bookshelf thing sounds interesting. More rewards would be cool.
I wonder what "exclusive recolours" means as a scratchcard prize..?
by biediep on February 5, 2026 10:54 AM NST
i don't see an option for the NP sink on the monotony page yet
by freezepop on February 5, 2026 10:54 AM NST
@duskshadowbrony - LOL good point actually
by biediep on February 5, 2026 10:55 AM NST
And nothing about the return of The Void Within. They're missing the timing again 🤷🏻
by allanmennezess on February 5, 2026 11:03 AM NST
Seconded on the Monotony sink not being active
by breaw13 on February 5, 2026 11:09 AM NST
These emails/blog posts are always written as if they aren't sure whether the feature will go live or the email will be published first. Not super unusual that most of the highlights aren't live yet--we'll see them go up over this upcoming month.

I think the Bookshelf feature sounds interesting. As it is now you have to do a lot of scrolling to look through all your books. I hope though that this doesn't cause prices to raise.
by liesha on February 5, 2026 11:16 AM NST
Just wondering when the void plot will restart!
by geminipjp_a88 on February 5, 2026 11:19 AM NST
The Wheel of Monotony update sounds fantastic and I can’t believe they’re letting it be NP but that’s a huge win.
My browser always times out and goes to a blank page if I let the wheel spin too long
by nightshadeswiftswing on February 5, 2026 11:44 AM NST
Very curious about Book Award update, but definitely want more details lol.
by kiriska on February 5, 2026 12:07 PM NST
The controllers looked awesome! Then I looked at the price. Cheese and rice you could buy a whole console for that. Then I looked into the company cause I recognized it and. Best steer clear imho!
by mustacheducttape on February 5, 2026 12:08 PM NST
Those controllers cost an arm and a leg.
They’re pretty sick looking tho!
by kaizar on February 5, 2026 1:40 PM NST
165 for a controller and the warranty is for the SHELL is a joke
by _sissiy_sis_369 on February 5, 2026 2:01 PM NST
I got a call from my EB Games yesterday (Australia) saying they weren't getting the (Switch) game in anymore - they were unsure if it meant it wasn't happening at all or if it just wasn't coming to Australia.
If it's the latter, a shame that more merch is going to be unobtainable through regular means for people outside NA.
by machtornado on February 5, 2026 2:35 PM NST
165 dollarydoos for a controller?! no thanks.
by fenix on February 5, 2026 2:40 PM NST
That is an inSANE price for a controller holy Kau.

Promising that there will be Varwolf potions, but I'm guessing they'll be like the transmogrification and only work on already-wolves. (but I'd be delighted to be proven wrong here!)
by goldennightfox on February 5, 2026 4:24 PM NST
"earn rewards as you track your Neopet’s reading progress"

Cool, because everyone has been begging TNT to inflate all books. /s
by will on February 5, 2026 4:35 PM NST
There are thousands upon thousands of different books floating around and a LOT of them are 1np. Are y'all actually worried about books getting inflated? I've been wanting an update to that and the gourmet food club FOREVER.
by selkiegal on February 5, 2026 4:45 PM NST
When are we going to create a Varwolf from the Create a Pet page?
by kacheekfan96 on February 5, 2026 5:20 PM NST
Hope the TCG is able to be sold at major retailers soon, to broaden the audience.
by pancake on February 5, 2026 5:30 PM NST
Ugh, as if the controller being $165 isn't bad enough, read the rest of the page.

They're also selling a desk mat and keychain wrist strap. All merch comes with a code which has a 20% chance of giving you one of the following:

* Cosy Gamer Background (just above 7k)
* Remote Control Gloves (between 90-100k)
* Games Graveyard Silhouette Background (4 mil)
* Basic Power Negg (only one which has a price on TP is 1.75 mil)
* Their exclusive animated background (which actually looks to be a FOREground; btw if you get the controller you automatically get a code for)

Like, really? And yes, I know, the digital rewards are meant to be a bonus; if you're getting any merch you'll be doing it for the merch itself. But, in that case, why not just have the exclusive animated foreground be given to everyone who makes an order? Why make those who just want the keychain or play mat have to do a 20% gacha to see if they're lucky enough to get the foreground? It's not like it'll make people order again or buy the controller, most will just shrug while someone who may have wanted the foreground just buy it from another user (assuming its tradeable, and if not then also completely shrug it off). Honestly it would feel less odd if they just made the foreground exclusive to the controller since that's what it's depicting.

Guess I should comment on the other announcements:

* VARWOLF MPs: If they're going to make those I hope they then make the Varwolf Transmogrification Potion work on any Neopet. Like I get why they did it initially, still feels wrong since no other Transmog potions have that limitation, but with them making normal MPs they'll now have no reason to keep it limited like that.

* BOOK UPDATE: This sounds intriguing, especially since I've been slowly working on reading books to my Ice Bori (he's supposed to be the smart one of the family). Curious what the effects will be and how many books they'll require. As @selkiegal said, there's thousands of cheap books so I'm not worried about it causing inflation on already expensive books (especially since they removed the feature of your Neopet refusing to read a book). If anything I'm worried they may make the effects OP.

* WHEEL OF MONOTONY NP SPEED-UP: Hm, not sure how I feel about this. Like, I want to like it as it'll make spinning the wheel feel less, well, monotonous. But that's the thing, it's called the Wheel of MONOTONY. That's the joke. I think I may have felt better about if they also gave a joke reason for this happening. "Greasing the wheel" feels too mundane of a solution. If it were up to me, I'd have the option where you could play NeoPoker with Quiggle host (doesn't seem to have a name; ooh, how about we call him "Mono-Tony" and reveal he actually named the wheel after himself, not realizing "monotony" was a word). If you choose to it'll mention after a couple of hours of playing (you'll always lose a certain amount of NP, who knew Mono-Tony was a pro poker player) that the wheel had stopped a while ago and so you collect your prize.
by pikachu315111 on February 5, 2026 6:22 PM NST
the controllers are so cute, but dear lord, idk about that price point.. id def drop $100 but $150 total shipping and stuff.. for a controller?
by poopsiepie on February 5, 2026 7:37 PM NST
The PS5 controller is so cute but it's double the cost of a brand new regular controller. I get a mark up for what it is, but double is insane imo. I do want the kougra in a computer pin, but not that bad. Def going to get the desk mat as I've been in search of one for a while!
by pawlie_gray on February 5, 2026 7:39 PM NST
Omg stop with the freaking NP sinks! We don't need NP sinks that take NP from actual players. We need you to fix the cheating and botting issues so that people don't just have insane amounts of NP. The NP sinks don't affect them and they're the ones causing the problems...
by brophyvirginia on February 5, 2026 9:21 PM NST
What even Is the point of spinning the wheel of monotony on this site anyways T_T even with the new Items on It having to wait two hours Is still bothersome, let alone having to keep the tab open so It doesn't go Idle and can keep spinning uninterrupted.

Unless you're saying that paying more will make It spin as usually as any other wheel does then just maybe It's not so bad, but just maybe

None of the wheels besides extravagance (and maybe knowledge If you're going for the Impossible to land coupon spot) have much value to current economy as they used to back In the days. Not even Mediocrity does
by maninshi on February 5, 2026 9:38 PM NST
TNT: Updates a bookshelf feature and makes a 12-hour wheel faster.

The Comments: 'This is an NP sink for the poor,' 'I hate books now,' and 'Why is physics broken?'

Never change, Neopia. Never change.

Hmmmmm... Call me old fashioned all you like.. I'm not sure I'd appreciate these alterations.

I have no problem finding which books my pet has read. That's what Ctrl+F is for (granted this does not work for Booktastic Books, as those don't list the book title). And on mobile you can "search on page" page too. If it's going to work anything like the customisation travesty, where my browser just freezes when I use the engine to search for an article of clothing, then this won't be an improvement at all.

As for the Wheel of Monotony.. I think it would be better, honestly, to just remove the wheel outright. It was a funny gag back in the day, when you could just let it run in the background while you were doing other stuff. But since Flash died and everything* became HTML5 it doesn't work like that anymore. And nobody is going to stare at a page for two+ hours, only to then get bitten by a Pterodactyl or whatever.
So yeah.. remove the Wheel of Monotony and install a new wheel in its place. We have Mediocrity, why not a wheel of.. ehm.. Decentness? Something between Mediocrity and Excitement

Varwolf accessibility should have been a thing from the start of course...
by apophis324 on February 6, 2026 12:22 AM NST
liking the Bookshelf Collection Update ... BUT does it update if my pet lands on the forget last book read tile of wheel of misfortune or other random crap i forget about ?
by scr3wdriver on February 6, 2026 1:54 AM NST
I am so looking forward to the Varwolf Morphing Potions. I got a pet I really want to turn into one
by shadowfrost on February 6, 2026 2:22 AM NST
Oof yea 165 for a controller is.. oof. And the shipping is another 35, making it a whopping 200 bucks. And seriously, the warranty is only for the shell?? That's hilarious.

They say "for Switch 1 and 2" but it's just a Switch 1 controller. Yes, it can connect to S2, but that means it's missing buttons, plus S1 controllers are very prone to drift. I'm on my 3rd pro controller already and that one's also slowly starting to drift. S2 controllers are much more comfortable and just better overall. I would NOT spend such an insane amount on an inferior S1 controller. (Plus I don't even care that much for the look, personally. I like the carrying case a lot but they don't ship to me..)
by biediep on February 6, 2026 3:18 AM NST
"easier than ever" bruh they've only been out for a few months 😂
by amethyst43217 on February 6, 2026 10:06 AM NST
oh, excited for the book update, that might be fun! atm it's one of those collections that feels sorta pointless since being completionist is so insanely expensive.

also glad the varwolf foods are getting a bit of a boost in availability, the drop rates in the haunted woods hunt are killing me. some days i get nothing at all, just "nothing here" on every click. hopefully them restocking will bring the price down.

wheel of monotony is whatever to me; more money sinks are always needed (although tbh i think item sinks are just as if not more important for the economy), but the monotony prizes aren't that exciting so i think mostly people only spin it because it's funny haha. it's a low-impact daily to run an experiment on, so maybe it's a sign of additional updates coming for other things...? itd be cute if you could do fetch quests for the wheel guys similiar to esophagor, edna, etc in exchange for extra spins for example...
by sentehisshou on February 6, 2026 10:22 AM NST
So if the Varwolf foods are supposed to be more readily available, how come prices shot up?
