Cthulhu? Now that's.. odd.. And what hope does Jeran have taking out this being from before time?
I understand the idea behind the Mammoth outfit.. but now it looks like he was bonked on the head with a giant boulder. So.. ehm... Execution is very poor here.

Valentine's a pretty basic colour. I like the gem in the cap ^^

i wish so bad they didn't turn valentine into a tiled fill color. they try to make things look unique by adding random hearts to TOENAILS, but it still just looks... gaudy. i dislike the pattern so much... this pb had so much potential...

I wish the wrist cuffs and boots on Mammoth's costume weren't bound to the bodysuit. The Valentine Elephante hat is precious, and will work wonderfully is so many Elephante customs. Also kinda wish the Cupid Wings were an overlay to pink wings, so we could use those cute wings on other Elephante customs.

This is a perfect example of my complaining about the Valentine color. Sometimes a pet lucks out and gets a good designer who actually can make it unique, such as the Valentine usul, and other pets get the misfortune of ending up with a totally phoned in design like this that's just a terrible hideous tiled pattern and a few heart motifs slapped on here and there.

Actually, I'm glad I don't have an elephante because none of these items does it for me at all except the clothing conversions.
by neolodgeism on January 17, 2026 11:41 AM NST
That monster outfit is extremely ugly to me. I grabbed one cap but I don't want to get any more because I don't want to risk getting it, lol.
by sakaarson on January 17, 2026 11:50 AM NST
I don't understand the boulder. Is he supposed to be carrying the boulder on his head?? Why would a mammoth do that??
by beffy on January 17, 2026 12:14 PM NST
Yeah.....Valentines Elephante is just going to have to live with being crosspaint fodder and only useful as a point of reference when they do a Valentines Plushie token for it.

@ Valentine Elephante:
For those who are saying they were hoping more from the Valentine Elephante, what exactly would you suggest? Because I feel this is the most they could have done with it. In addition to the body's heart-print they changed all its nails to be heart-shaped, added a heart to its cap's gem, and made its wings more resemble a bird (aka make it look like a cupid's wings). Like, on that note, the only other direction they could have taken it was go full cupid; put it in a diaper (or a Roman toga if they wanted to be more respectable) and gave it a bow & arrow.

Also, and while you may not like to hear this, Valentine is a popular Colour to get Pet Styles, obviously around Valentine's Day (February 14th)... HEY, wait a second, Valentine's Elephante already has one?! Apparently last year they indeed released a "Cherub" Valentine Elephante Pet Style, though compared to the actual Valentine Elephante its very plain. Well, I guess this year they could do more with it, like there's also "Nostalgic" and "Plushie" Pet Styles (not sure what they would do with Nostalgic, but I could see a Plushie version). Also surprised Valentine hadn't recieved any Prismatics, they could easily make versiosn which are more White, Red, and Magenta (aka swap the lighter pink and darker magenta). Going back to Pet Styles, another obvious "Colour Combo" would be Chocolate Valentine.

@ Mammoth Clothes:
If you want to imply the shirt and pants are one whole jumpsuit fine I guess, but you really couldn't make the armbands seperate? Anyway, I get what they were going for, though it unfortunately comes out looking silly, like the boulder just lands on his head. Maybe if they added like hand imprints on either side of the boulder sort of implying he at one point was holding it up but I guess now has managed to balance it on his head?

@ Elephante Mystery Capsule:
Ookay, this is an interesting idea; takes quite a creative mind to see the trunk of the Elephante and jump to "we can make it into a tentacle-faced Cthulu"! Random appearance of Jeran; I'm guessing this is a reference to his original Neopets TCG card where he's cutting a tendril of a lake monster while surfing on his shield (https://images.neopets.com/games/wizards_game/jeran_v1.jpg). It's a cute idea, though just feels odd its for the Elephante 2026 Mystery Capsule without the context.

@JN Comment Text Limit:
Hey, I just discovered that JN implemented a text limit to their comment posts! Much appreciated; now I don't have to save a long message and figure out where it got awkwardly cut off to finish my thoughts!

You're asking how they could have executed valentines better outside of a fill pattern...? it is a fill pattern... that they then slapped a bunch of hearts onto its toenails... There are both fan designs and old valentine shopkeep designs done by tnt in the past you can make a point of reference to likely by just googling valentine neopet fanart or something. Even googling valentine plushie designs on Pinterest or something. Its called creativity. If you're happy with bucket-fill designs though by all means be contented.

And the nc alt styles are popular because they're uniquely drawn in creative or dynamic poses... often having the pattern drawn wrapped around the body with the structural anatomy in mind... Again.. Not bucket-filled in like a flat tiled wallpaper like on converteds... Tnt just doesn't care about converteds... Give them the bucketfill treatment and save the better money to the future alt style version.
You don't even see converted pets even winning the customization contests anymore outside of the rare invisible maybe.

As an Elephante lover, I do wish we would get more cute stuff for them. A lot of the exclusive clothes aren't as cutesy compared to other species.

If anyone has a vision they want for a Valentine Pet, it would be wise to make a fan-design that conveys their ideas and promote it to be voted for in the Pet Day Suggestions boards.

These boards are a very important outlet for us to tell TNT what kind of colours we want to see!
We wouldn't have the Pastel Pteri if it weren't for that board! ❤️🦜❤️

@inkpot:
... Did I say something that offended you? I wasn't being disingenuous, I'm curious what those who wanted more from the Valentine Elephante (and other Valentine Neopets) would have wanted to see. Because I like to think I'm a creative individual, and even I'm struggling to think what else I could have done with the Valentine Elephante. As I said, I probably would have just gone with a full cherub design (which, upon further research, they kind of already did via using a Pink Elephante to show off an old Valentine NC Mall promotion: https://images.neopets.com/ncmall/email/ncmall_feb10_wk2.jpg), I wouldn't have thought to make the nails heart-shaped (which does kind of look unnatural).

Infact any search I did on Google, Pinterest, and JN's Image Database kept coming up with the same result: The Cherub Valentine Elephante (or a variance of it). Turns out it and a few other "Nostalgic" and "Cherub" Valentine Pet Styles were based off these early Shopkeepers (if not straight-up the same image like in this case: https://images.neopets.com/new_shopkeepers/2116.gif). And the thing is, if this is the Elephante you keep referring back to, it's nothing special. It's just a Pink Elephante with bigger bird wings and a bow & arrow, it's not even wearing the usual Elephante cap. Now I did find a Valentine's background with a similar cherub Elephante wearing a cap a cap (with a heart as the gem) and a diaper made of clouds (which is a pretty unique idea), but still it's just a Pink Elephante (https://images.neopets.com/games/new_tradingcards/lg_valentines_day_2006.gif).

Like, if that Elephante was what they decided to go with for the Valentine Elephante, honestly that would have been even more disappointing than what we got.

You keep complaining about it being a fill-in, but what's the alternative you would have wanted? The base Elephante is a pretty basic design without much elements they could manipulate, infact what we got had manipulated all that they could. Like the only other thing they could have done with give it a different fill-in some other Valentine Neopets have. Like would you preferred the fill-in they did for the Wocky which is a bit more unique as it looks like there's some degree of intentional pattern planning?
by pikachu315111 on January 17, 2026 5:27 PM NST
PB is cute, items are good, I understand the Mammoth concept and the limitations of equipables but.. isn't the hunk of ground kinda just On the pet's head? Not holding?
by mercy_graves on January 17, 2026 6:09 PM NST
Pikachu - if you look at the Valentine usul and the Valentine wocky, you can see some very creative things being done to make the pet look sweet and heartsy without just slapping a tiled pattern on it.

A lot of the Valentine pets are just slapped on tiled patterns and they look more like plushies than anything cool or unique.

And I would like to humbly submit that just because you can't think of creative ways that it can be done with the elephante, does not mean that those creative ways do not exist. Our imaginations might lack to some degree, but it's not our job to draw these pet colors.

So to answer your question, I would have loved if they had made that gorgeous ombre base color like the usul has, with the heart pattern subtly faded into the darker areas like with the usul.

They could have made the headpiece into more of a bow or something more creative. They could have made the nails heart-shaped like they did, but with more subtlety and not looking like Lee press-on nails. The nails should have been upside down hearts and they would have looked a lot more natural. They look especially bad on the hand.

The tail could have been swept into a little heart-shaped wisp that came to a point at the end. The solid hot pink accents are hideous as well, and could have benefited from a nice soft ombre gradient effect.

The end of the trunk is heart shaped, but you can't tell very well because it's just so badly colored.

Like I absolutely hate this design and whoever did it should not be allowed anywhere near another Valentine pet, in my view.
by neolodgeism on January 17, 2026 6:41 PM NST
If you look at the Valentine wocky, you can see how they took creative liberties with the pattern to make it more interesting and a lot more beautiful.

This is a special color, there's nothing to stop them from making the elephante have parts of their body white and parts of them pink for example. They could make it have whiteish legs and a pink belly or a trunk that is white gradienting up a more pinkish face. There are all sorts of things they could have done but instead they just tiled a pattern on, colored a few parts hot pink, and called it done.

mammoth underwear?
by anydarnedthingeez on January 17, 2026 7:29 PM NST
@ neolodgeism:
Thank you, I see your points and agree with most. The only one I would semi-disagree with is that, yes, at the end of the day it is up to TNT to design these colors thus them to make it the best it can be. But, as you said, everyone's imagination differs, and thus I argue those demanding for a more dynamic version of the Colour needs to express what their vision is. Because the Valentine Elephante may have been made by one person, but it, and all Coloured Neopets, likely go through a few levels of approval from different people. This means that on multiple levels no one saw any problems with the Valentine Elephante, likely because it resembled other Valentine Neopets. Just saying "this is bad, I don't like it's a fill-in, make it better" doesn't help much (especially when you point to other "Valentine/Cherub Elephante" references which is just a Pink Elephante).

You pointing out the Valentine Wocky (which note I did too) and the Valentine Usul (which I didn't give a close look at as on quick glance it does look looked pink) and what makes them unique is very much informative. If this is the type of Valentine Neopet you want to see more of it's what should be posted on the Neoboards (1jediboy you may want to take note of this) or even sent in as a Suggestion Ticket to TNT. I would agree they do look more visually interesting than the fill-in color they used for the Elephante or the outlineless one I see them used with such species like the Grarrl.

Infact I just had a thought: They could have maybe reshaped the ears a bit so that at least on the top they looked a bit more heart-shaped. In addition to making the cap look a bit more bow-like, I think maybe also giving it something on the body would help, like maybe a sash that goes down from the right shoulder and "loops" between the left leg & arm, having it tied in a bow either in the middle or at the hip.

Huh, didn't think Cthulhu when I first saw this, based on everything else around it, I was getting a "Clash of the Titan's" Kraken vibe.

That Jerans Next Foe Foreground is gonna make some really cool and also some super hilarious customs. I'm picturing it with a Giant Huggable Warf Fairground Prize and the like.
by pawlie_gray on January 18, 2026 9:55 AM NST
is anyone gonna bring up how the Nested Seabird Lennys Foreground has a headless Lenny on the top right?? like i'm assuming it's supposed to be like a sleeping seagull but the way it's done just feels lazy idk
by oceanhazel on January 18, 2026 11:32 AM NST
the valentinez iz cute, but i would like to see more thingz than just "the same shade of pink with heartz on it" for valentinez, like, i feel like sum hot pink, red, or even a kinda maroon would b cool on future valentine petz
