"Storytelling 1000th" Avatar Update

The Storytelling Contest celebrated its 1,000th round last month. At its conclusion, an exclusive avatar was granted only to the winners of that round. Today, TNT has changed course, making it freely available to all players by viewing ~~any Storytelling Contest page~~ the 1000th Storytelling Contest!

The requirements for the "regular" version of the avatar do not seem to have changed. According to TNT, it will be awarded to winners of every fifth round of the Storytelling Competition starting with round #1005. (The current round is #1002.)

Ouch, feel sorry for those who earnt it. But tbh avatars should not be that exclusive. Why not making it for every 50th contest?

Dynohawk - Because that would still only be awarded every two years to a very small group! Just winning the Storyteller Contest is exclusive enough.

Yea I too feel a bit bad for the winners, it was definitely cool while it lasted!
I feel like maybe they could've given us the one without "1000" on it, and then have the winners not be able to obtain that one (similar to how you can only get one of the Royal Korbat avs, etc)

So we all get the +1 but the winners get the nicer version.

Still, I'm glad TNT seems to be listening to feedback regarding stupidly exclusive avatars.

Personally I wasn’t too pressed by the exclusivity of the avatar. This is a nice change, but if it had stayed the way it was before, idk I wouldn’t be too bothered.

Sometimes exclusive avatars make sense. Like, wasn’t there one for those who got into the 1000th issue of The Neopian Times or something?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well. I appreciate that they’re seemingly listening to the feedback, I guess.

The 1000th edition of the Neopian Times avatar is available to anyone that visits the 1000th issue, just like this one now is. The exclusive avatars for the NT are for getting published ten times or getting published in a 25th issue.

If any of you have been following what the winners thought about the super exclusive avatar (www.neopets.com/neoboards/topic.phtml?topic=164133913), you'll find most of them advocated for a clickable 1000th avatar and a retroactive general STC avatar for viewing the trophy on your lookup. Oh, and they wanted the neodeck card that's only awarded every 100 contests. TNT already had a bunch of feedback for that BEFORE they even created the hyper exclusive 1000th version no one wanted while intentionally skipping the card. This change is a step in the right direction.

good to know that the contest winners were the ones who asked for this, what a kind bunch! i'm hoping that TNT grants the card instead if they're this open to feedback post-announcement

For some reason I got the avatar from clicking into story 1002 earlier - not sure if they've since updated this or not! But seems like a lot of people in the comments are succeeding with story 1000 so hopefully it was just a random weird glitch for me

this was a weird saga. the #1000 winners originally got the "regular" one. that was *replaced* with the 1000 version. now they've made the 1000 version a clickable. so I think the make-good is to make round #1000 winners get the "regular" one...like they did in the first place

lol, TNT made this mess for absolutely no reason, but I'm glad for this update. Now just make the "regular" one for all contests, not every fifth. I don't mind as much if it's not retroactive, even though I would benefit from that, having gotten in exactly once despite various attempts.

A step in the right direction, though they need to award the normal one to the winners if they didn't already. And also make it for every contest, not just every 5??? It's hard enough getting chosen after all. But hey, at least they changed this one. That's something.

Good on TNT for this fix. I do hope they award the 1k winners with the STC avatar too, though.

This is what most were asking for, including stc1k winners and I'm glad they listened to feedback!
