Neopets June 2025 Update Posted; The Void Within Returning August 4th

TNT has posted a lengthy update on a wide variety of topics over on the main portal site. This is a continuation of this style of update, which started in May as a replacement for the monthly AMAs, which ended in January.

With that, let's get into a summary of this month's updates! (Note: there's a lot of content in the update that is "old news"—already recently reported on by JN over the past few weeks! We're going to skip the details on those and link our relevant updates instead at the end.)

Community Q&A
Some of the responses were quite detailed, so we encourage you to read them in full. We'll summarize the ones with new information here:

Why weren't drop rates for capsules published alongside the NC Mall revamp? TNT states that they are still working to document accurate drop rates, then can display them at some point in Q3. A pity system will not be implemented due to the significant technical effort that would be required to update the NC Mall to support it.

When is TVW coming back? The Void Within will return on Monday, August 4, 2025.

What actionable steps do you plan to take to address transphobia in Neopets? TNT shares a four point plan to build on their April announcement: (1) reviewing and updating moderation policies, (2) clearer community chat guidelines, (3) retraining the moderation team and ensuring consistent enforcement, and (4) gathering community feedback on potential rule updates.

In-Person Events
TNT has (re)confirmed a few upcoming in-person events.

  1. Neopets will attend San Diego Comic-Con 2025 for the full weekend, including an offsite meetup.
  2. This coming August, Neopets will once again have a collaboration with tsun scoops in Garden Grove, CA. (You can read our recap of their original winter 2024 collab here!)
  3. From September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, Neopets will be featured among other iconic games in the ACMI Game Worlds exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.

how does a pause for the holidays turn into 9 months? at this point i dont think anyone even cares about the plot anymore and people will freak if theres another break before it finishes.

Glad the petpets are finally fixed!

I still can't help but feel like they did the whole "only 5 people will win an exclusive avatar (that has absolutely nothing to do with the NC Mall)" JUST so people would complain and then they could change it and be like "look, we listened to feedback!" but who knows.

Glad to hear drop rates for NC capsules and such are at least in the works... /shrug.

"Sneak peak" is all just merch and other-side-of-the-planet events I don't care about, nothing actually site related...

am I the only one who remembers them saying they were going to make a monthly podcast about updates. I prefer this but it's funny to think these people were going to talk for 30 minutes to peddle stuff.

Idk, they could have addressed this a little better, even if it is complicated this just feels like an excuse so they don't have to give up the money from people buying more caps for the rare items

1. Instead of a pity system, don't put them in a way you have to gamble! Simple as.
2. I only want the plot to come back so it can be done and over with. I hate the site being grey too.
3. Good on them for updating guidelines. Needs to be more clear as well. They have needed this for a long time. Filters have been an annoying thing for the community. I don't go on the NeoBoards so no issues for me anyway.

TNT started strong and now they are on the downhill; even faster than before.

the "document capsule drop rates" is specifically for older capsules, likely for ones that have been on the site for ages and haven't been cycled out since the obama administration. with web development if you think it's "simple" then 9 times out of 10 it isn't.

I wonder if the return of the plot also means we will be getting the Varwolf event. That's what I'm looking forward to the most, though I can imagine it might just end up being part of the plot in some way? Or at least connected to it

Hilarious that we have 1000 words of nothing on transphobia but the actual issues that people have been bringing up for years regarding bad staff, predatory NC Mall tactics, ridiculous delays on plots and purges, illegal ads, etc are completely unnoticed. TNT always says they're trying to be "more transparent" but this style of posing questions in a text AMA just makes it easier for them to dodge the things they don't want to talk about.

Couldn't they just retire them, then re-release the same thing but with their own coding and droprates? Or is that another one of those things that sounds simple but wouldn't be? I feel like it'd be easier than documenting old droprates but I have zero experience with web development so what do I know.

They should just stop this so-called plot. It's been going so long, it's boring. People don't care about it any more. I'd rather be doing a GMC or DD.

August 4th? Oh no no no, that's in the middle of everyone's summer vacation! Players can't keep up with this when they're on vacation! No no, we must instead delay it to September 4th! And then pause it again in November of course, because you know, holidays and stuff!

The word "aim" does a lot of heavy lifting. I can completely see the launch date being pushed back, but if it happens *now,* dedicated players will know Dom could have just *not* made a public statement about it on his own website just a month before. It'll only make him look bad.

Privilege is when you think something isn't a problem, because it's not a problem for you.

Site errors, etc. are important, but so is transphobia, queerphobia, ableism, racism, and hate in all forms. We have workarounds for most site issues, but there is no workaround for being treated in a hateful way.

Acting as though addressing transphobia is taking away from any other issue on the site is a form of hate in itself. You can gripe about site issues without trying to make it seem like trans people are somehow ruining your experience, or taking resources away from other issues. This type of false framing only invites more anger and hatred onto people who are already marginalized and mistreated enough.

Give your heads a shake.
