Faerie Fragments Instability, Summer Beach Bash Event, and First-Ever Neopets.com Prize Shop

App Instability
Beleaguered mobile app Faerie Fragments has started experiencing a new type of stability issue today, with power-ups and Coins intermittently appearing to clear out to zero, though is resolved if the app is restarted. Further, Champion Mode seems to be intermittently resetting for some users; once again this can be resolved by restarting the app.

Summer Beach Bash Event Begins
Nevertheless, Faerie Fragments has launched its next event yesterday, the Summer Beach Bash.


The event is similar in mechanics to what we've seen before. Clear levels, complete daily quests, collect Bronze Coins, and earn in-app prizes, including more "Fragments" to unlock Ascor. There is also a paid event track with additional prizes for $6.99 USD (this will increase to $9.99 in the last two weeks of the event).

You can also earn an exclusive item prize on Neopets.com. If you have NeoPass connected and earn 3,000 Bronze Coins during the event, you will earn a new exclusive book:


101 Exercises for Your Brain

The event has a novel option to use (gold) Coins to increase the Bronze Coins you receive by 50% for either 4 or 24 hours.

This event also sees the debut of a Neopets.com prize shop in Faerie Fragments!


However, this prize shop has some interesting limitations you might not expect. There is a limit of one of each item per player, but there is also an overall limit that resets each week. This limit varies by item, and is not revealed to you unless you have enough Bronze Coins on hand to purchase them. If the limit is reached before the week is up, it will be "sold out" until the following week when they all "restock"! There are four weeks you can collect Bronze Coins, though a countdown in the prize shop suggests it will be open for an additional fifth week.

Tower Mode Update
Finally, and presumably not related to the event, Tower Mode has started to present a different set of 15 levels to players in an unannounced change. We'll find out tomorrow if this is a semi-permanent new set, or if the levels will now be randomized each day, and update our guide accordingly!

This post is how I learned that there are site prizes in the shop. I didn't notice the thing to switch between the two prize shops, but I thought the prize shop was weirdly sparse...

I was feeling pretty lacklustre about participating in this event, but seeing that I can finally get the golden shell I had completed my progress toward previously and lost on the last day (before the quest log had streak freezes), I will definitely be Getting It Done.

Not liking what they did to the Tower Challenge.

Not being the same Is good.... but random stages Including stages that are purely luck dependant will be problematic, especially If those stages pop up around the third or fourth stage of each levels.

Setting a limitation to classic Items In the shop? I can see regionalism playing a role In unfairness here. Just Imagine It resets at 5am for some It's already bad.

And finally (and apparently most Irrelevant to TNT), they have not stopped with these events here and there, there Is no rest to the player. The FOMO will strike hard at some point In the future

If there Is a plus to be mentioned that would be how Tower Challenges are FINALLY awarding tokens as well.

The game keeps being so unstable for me??? I keep getting errors that theres no internet even though my internet is super stable. It’s always only after I complete a (tower) level.

Or just that the screen turns blank. Or just won’t show anything after clicking somewhere. (To start a level or open an event or the giftbrief or whatever).

Man, I kind of hope they rethink the available amounts of the site items... the only thing I'd want is the Golden Shell and it was sold out before I even got a chance to earn any coins before bed last night.

Have I missed where it says what time exactly on Wednesday things will reset? It looks like I'll be crossing my fingers that I get in there on time next week, haha...

@aneon We don't know for sure since it just says "6 Days" on the countdown. That said, I know from experience working on our guides that most "X Days" counters on Faerie Fragments start counting down to the second once it's within 24h, so we'll know at some point on Tuesday *probably*

@arktus the guide also breaks down exactly how many tokens on each type of level!

The game has been super unstable the last day or so - more than its usual cranky self.

I do really like that the boosters for bronze coins are bought with regular coins. This is an unusually generous game with regular coins, so it doesn't feel paywalled.

Hard agree that the limits should have been reconsidered on things like the Golden Shell. That, or they needed to expand the variety of desirable items that had that limit, at least making it possible for people to get one or another.

I can't load this app on my iphone8. Although it says that I have everything I need for the game to work, it simply does not load all the way when I open the app and it crashes. I know I have enough memory and I have the specs. This is really disappointing because I'm missing out on the avatar and prizes. Ugh.

btw, I can play tales of Dacardia on my iphone 8. It's just Faerie Fragments that refuses to work. The coding on that must be horrid.

Just noting that while it resolves if the app is restarted, it reverts back after exiting any menu or clearing a level. I had to restart between levels *every time* to make use of my 30-minute infinite lives bonus

After finishing it once, and playing now for the Tower streak prizes, for me this game is pretty much unplayable. I like a challenge, but this is like beating my head against a brick wall for no reason. So, so, so, so many glitches and problems, I don't think any prize is worth this much aggravation and frustration.

This app is broken garbage and that NP prize shop is a joke, chances of getting that golden shell are even worse than beating the restock bots.

The tower challenge was really hard with restarting every couple of levels, but also all my levels today were purple or hard levels picked at random!

Starting today, on-site dailies aren't linking/marking complete. Had the same issue in ToD before and deleting and reinstalling the app had fixed the issue. Tried this with FF and nothing changed.

Issues of coins/power-ups clearing out to 0 also occur after each level / navigating to a menu, as mentioned by @tahirah in earlier posted comment.

Since installing this app, this is the update that's had the most negative impact on my user experience, both in terms of enjoyment (it's at 0 now, it's always been an arguably boring game but right now it's much more frustrating than it is worth even as just a mindless distraction when you want one), and playability.

Playability is currently at what I consider a generous 2/5 but that's assuming current issues are soon resolved as current 'workarounds' are...well, at least an option, I guess, but can't be sustained for any real period of time without causing substantial and lasting user dissatisfaction and disengagement, and yet another reputational hit to the already very weak brand image of this game (or of Neopets-related apps in general, really).

I won't even get into the prize limits, that's just another 'of course they had to sign-off on the first bad idea and move on' situation, I think.



TLDR version: App is even worse than previously believed, needs to be fixed like right now or it'll probs start bleeding users no matter for what prizes or how many different ways we're asked to push referrals.

today my tower was 5-6 purple and 2 red levels... I'm sorry but in an extremely unstable game requiring reopening every level made falling down the tower even more perilous.

Also I had a level so difficult that I got desperate and spent multiple +5 moves to get through it, but despite the reopening right before the level I must have taken so long that after the pre-game booster, midgame tools AND all the gold the game disconnected so it refused to acknowledge the win at the end HOWEVER took all the assets and gold from my acct.

And lastly, yesterday, I was able to get credit for my 2 daily quests but today, Neo wouldn't even acknowledge that I had LOGGED IN to the game for either quest despite today having reopened the game... 35 times? 50 times?

I logged in at reset 14 hours ago and still has not said I logged in. Did Tower and everything. App is still as bad as ever I see!

Same issue with the question log for me. Kinda seems like if I already login after Site Reset and before App Reset it just won’t register……

I am trying to collect bronze coins to buy the rewards, also spent the 3500 coins for the 50% bonus. And what I am experiencing now is... that I am constantly losing bronze coins! For example: I am finishing a level and the BC are climbing up to 1100 ... so far so good. Then I am finishing the next level and my BC are going up from 1040 to 1055... like WHAT?!?!? Why!! Its so so so so frustrating.

And ofc the app is constantly crashing too.

The last Faerie Fragments update has been awful for me. Can play one level and then it changes to Level 700 and says "you have already played all the levels" and I have to force quit the app to do another one. It is getting old for sure.

The app was basically unplayable all weekend. My telephone, TV, computer and radio all run just fine on my internet connection. It is extremely infuriating to have Faerie Fragments tell me to check my app after almost every level I complete.

its nice they have the game connected to the website and all but I pretty much gave up on trying to play either one of the mobile games, I can't get them to run without crashing almost every 5 min. they can't run on my ipad, my chromebook or phone
