NC Mall Survey - Important Update

Last week we reported on the survey TNT have opened around the recent NC Mall revamp. You may remember that at the time, it advertised prizes including 5 winners being awarded the exclusive, previously unavailable Parchment Puzzler avatar. This proved deeply unpopular with users, and today, TNT have updated the survey:

Based on feedback across our community channels, we’ve updated our sweepstakes to make it fairer and more exciting for everyone. Not only have we removed avatar exclusivity from the prize tiers and are offering a guaranteed new avatar to all participants who complete the survey, but we have also increased the number of winners for the top prizes:

Grand Prize Tier winners have doubled—from 5 to 10 winners!
Major Prize Tier winners have increased from 20 to 30!

The highest prize now features one of the most valuable NC items: a Custom Styling Studio Essence—letting you choose your dream character.

Additionally, we have extended the promotional period by one week. The new end date is July 11, 2025 (PT), giving everyone more time to participate and share feedback!

As the article now reads, the Parchment Puzzler avatar is no longer available and has been replaced with styling studio prizes. Instead, all users who complete the survey before the new deadline of July 11th will be awarded an entirely new avatar!

they seem to have quietly removed the Angelpuss avatar as a "prize" as well

Nice to see them adjusting based on feedback. Honestly, I don't know why they haven't learned this stuff already, and been able to avoid this kind of frustration entirely.

As much as I would love to be wrong, and I really hope I am, TNT's history with the use of the word "exclusive" leads me to think they might also be getting carried away with the word "new" and they're simply making the previously stated Parchment Puzzler avvie the participation prize.

I would honestly love to be wrong, I will love a brand-new, creatively-designed avatar that isn't a square with someones face in the middle but... as I said, I hope to be proven wrong.

The parchment av is sorta nice but it didn't fit this particular thing at all. I hope they find a different way to release it, that would be cool! & Curious to see what the new avatar will look like!
I wouldn't be surprised if it's got this new purple Ixi from the mall on it and is of similar quality / art style as the new Monopoly and King Skarl avs, which I personally don't care for, but a new av is a new av!

So since it doesnt ask for your username and only your email... how to we make sure that we get the avatar on our main account? Would it just default to that

I think TNT should have the Ambassadors help (and explain) with the prize decisions for a while. If feels like TNT are stuck between knowing what in general the kind of things & items players like, but don't fully get how it should be distributed; especially when you throw in there needs to be side Premium stuff.

I felt like a cranky old woman answering their questions!
Mostly I don't like the new NC Mall, or the old one either, cuz they don't offer much that's new. I'm tired of capsules and the retired capsules just seem so lazy to me -- when they were first introduced they were great, but now that seems to be all they're adding.

Oh my lexthepro - I hadn't even thought of that! My email for my main account is one I don't use as much anymore, I put down the email that I use most often nowadays. And that email that I put down is linked to my side accounts, which I made much later.

Okay, but since it asked for email, not username, how are they awarding said avatar? I accidentally used a different email than is attached to my main, so am I out of luck?

@goldennightfox maybe they were expecting that at this point everybody would link their username(s?) to a neopass, and neopasses require an email to exist?

From the article: The new NC Mall Avatar will be distributed to all survey participants by the end of July 2025. Please note: to receive the avatar, survey participants must provide their Neopets account username and email within the survey.

I don't remember inputting my username in the survey, just the email, and now when I go back it says that I've already taken it. So does that mean I'm locked out of the avatar?

That was a surprising long survey (about 50 questions/comments) - and it did ask for username and email at the beginning when I did it. Maybe those who think they didn't include their usernames should contact Survey Monkey and ask them to check if they did or not ... only they can add this extra info now. If not maybe they can organise an email at the end of the survey inviting everyone who entered and missed this info to supply it so they can claim their avvie.

This is the better option imo so I'm glad they changed it but i'm kinda disappointed that the parchment puzzler one is going back in the disney vault and now no one is getting it tbh. Like it's fine, this is objectively the better course of action

But same, I also did my survey on the very first day and have no idea how they plan to distribute an avatar if the username entry field wasn't originally on the form. Oh well.

Capsules majorly stink. U pay rw monies for a 'chance' at 1 to 3 items u really wany out of 30 to 50 items; hard pass here!!! I want what 'I' want if paying rw monies; so 'I' must be able to choose 'MY' prize. Most people will pay n pay n pay to try to get the actual item(s) desired; WHY? So if u want a chance at my rw monies; put it in a gram!

Still not taking the survey that reads more of mining for ones data than a survey

The original survey said something like "give us your email and we'll crosscheck to award you the avatar," there wasn't username field. I wonder if they'll still do the crosschecking part of those of us who can't retake the survey and put our username in...? As someone noted above that's going to be difficult to do with side accounts. augh

What I wish I'd noticed before I took the survey was that it's hard to find the monthly collectible now. It's in one of those carousel pictures, at the very end, and going to the Album > clicking the item to buy it doesn't work.

Good adjustment. Shouldn't have been set up the previous way in the first place if they knew the player base at all or listened to Ambassador feedback.

As for the avatar, I assume that it would be easiest for TNT to send a one-use warehouse code to the email we put in for the survey?

Good! Hope they will listen also to concerns about other pay-to-win avatars and that in the future they will avoid them entirely or make it so regular users have a shoot ad them as well.

Although I'm worried I won't be counted - I did the survey, with my main's email, but I'm not using neopass, so... x.x hope they will award the avatar still... I really like @coryldork's idea about it!

My thoughts are, "I give up!" I did the survey and thought it was odd they didn't ask for my user name. My email is shared by my side account. I don't expect to win anything now. I was really looking forward to getting that LD Parchment Puzzler avatar. I just assume that only the latter surveys will count as entries. That's TNT for ya!

The updated survey says you can provide your Neopets or Neopass username or email. There are 2 fields, one for email address (the same as the original survey) and another that says "Neopets.com or Neopass username", so I hope that either one is valid for the new avatar.

I managed to re-take the sturvey (to include my UN) in an incognito browser window, in case that could help. In the last textbox I also wrote I took the survey twice because I didn't know If the first one counted without an UN!

@wiiwario112 yeah, but sadly avatar collectors are tied to that type of promo and surveys. Now everyone gets an avatar if they take the survey, indirectly forcing avatar collectors to do so to keep their streak.

Pretty sure I used my Neopets email address when I initially took the survey and now paranoid as heck that I didn't. You'd think after the number of instances where TNT has had to make amendments after the users have loudly complained about a roll out/idea/etc. that they'd a) be able to better anticipate what the reception will be and b) have thought through the various possibilities. So messy to constantly be back tracking and adjusting things AFTERwards, and then tidying up so many messes that could have been avoided had they just taken an extra day or two to actually think through the logistics.
