New Stat Decreaser Neggs

It appears that new neggs (and equivalent slices) are appearing across Neopia! "Slices" of neggs appear as new prizes in the Battledome and restocking in shops. Full-sized neggs are available at the the Neggery for 22 Negg Tokens each.

We've confirmed that the following are awarding the new items:

Restocking in Food Shop (slices)
Battledome, possibly any challenger (slices)
Tea Time with Tavi (slices)
Snowager (whole neggs)
Tombola (slices)
Neggery (whole neggs)

However, beware! These neggs are all stat decreasers! Perfect for if you've overshot a training school cut off or need to get your Neopet in compliance with a certain Battledome league requirement. We're still working on research to nail down exactly what changes and by how much, however so far it seems that the full-sized neggs will be more powerful than the slice versions.

I overshot HP by a single point a few weeks ago and realized after that there's no items that reduce HP reliably, so these are actually somewhat useful. I wish they'd add some that increase stats as well though; there's not much benefit to fighting in the BD other than the occasional codestone drop.

This is fantastic! I'm so happy to see such a great new feature introduced that's not paywalled. I got a super bonus just when my battle pet was going to go up to level 250, so I was extremely disappointed that it meant I couldn't train with both tan codestones and red for a while.

I just need to wait I guess now to find out what opponents/domes the draining negg drops in.

Neat. As said, pretty much their main use would be lowering an overshot stat (either so you don't have to train Level for the Training Schools which would push you to the next cost threshhold or you have a L54 Neopet that somehow gained an unwanted stat increase).

That said, while this is a nice option to have, I still see it as only a band-aid. I argue that these three other things should be done that are connected to this:

1. Just in general the Training Schools should be redone so that it's the individual stat that needs to be lower than the Level Restrcition, not every stat. It makes no sense that if my Neopet is "too high" in Strength it can't train in HP, Defense, or Agility if their below the Level Restriction. Problem is that would involve fiddling with the Training School's ancient code and I imagine this may be a bit more complicated than simply removing the waiting punishment from cancelling a course.

2. Speaking of which, they need to remove the waiting punishment for cancelling a course to the Secret Ninja Training School. Especially now that it looks like Red Codestone prices are beginning to rise again.

3. Finally, there should be a way to redistribute points between stats. Like I wouldn't mind swapping over some of my Neopets' Movement points to their Strength, Defense, and HP.

Anyway, for those wondering what-is-what and don't want to check each Negg's Item Database Page:

* Draining Negg/Slice - Level
* Sickly Negg/Slice - HP
* Lazy Negg/Slice - Strength
* Gnarly Negg/Slice - Defense
* Sluggish Negg/Slice - Movement
* Dumb Negg/Slice - Intelligence
* Dumb Negg Juice Negg (no Slice) - Intelligence
* Magic 6 (no Slice) - Random

For the most part the Neggs make sense for the stat that they decrease. Draining being a sink is clever, I'm having a tough time thinking of an alternate depiction for lowering Level (maybe a Shrinking Negg?). Gnarly I like the design (especially of its Slice) though think it could have a more fittin

though think it could have a more fitting name like "Brittle" (also for some reason it's the only full Negg that JN didn't show but it's on the Item Database). Though I don't know why anyone would want to use a Magic 6 Negg, decreasing stats is something you'd want to be in complete control of (also don't know why it's designed after a Magic 8 Ball, someone on TNT have a bad experience with one of them?). Also don't know why there's two Intelligence decreasing Neggs, infact Dumb Negg Juice Negg feels like it's a prototype for either the Dumb Negg or Dumb Negg Slice. Odd.

@ akarroa: Bitten? Draining, Sickly, Lazy, and Dumb look like they were torn in half like they were made of paper (they also took Sickly's blanket & thermometer and Lazy's blanket, rude). Meanwhile Gnarly was just cracked in half like an egg and Sluggish looks like the snail was removed in a struggle.

Just a heads up! These will NOT reduce stats if your pet already has negative stats!
For example, poopkilla is level -3, and upon consuming a Draining Negg:
"poopkilla eats the Draining Negg, but doesn't feel any different. Their level can't go any lower."

Pls everyone send requests to the editorial or the suggestions board (if TNT reads that lol) asking for height and weight reducers as well! I know some ppl want those and at least one of those, if not both, have no items that do it. If they already added stat decreasers for BD stats, maybe they'll do a little more.

Slices will be junk items soon. Here was tnt doing what some people have been asking for for years, but doing it wrong. People who really wanted this were willing to pay nc for it. They should have been put in the Neggery exclusively.

We do daily battles for codestones to GAIN stats, not to lose them. There is no other reason for daily battles, excepting Obelisk boons, which we hope will be a gain to us.

Once again tnt negatively changes the odds of getting something good in a daily.It's a habit of theirs. By putting junk in the prize pools, like the stupid discarded plushies in TDMBGPOP,.

They don't know what they're doing. Give away Job Coupons? Only thing worth spinning WoK for after the avie. Then give us premium perk to spin it twice. Why? I no longer want to spin it at all.

I could go on and on but I have the bbq grill fired up

@topaz644 - Speak for yourself. There are a lot of people who need to reduce certain stats, and these neggs aren't dropping with the frequency you seem to think they are. I didn't get a single one from my daily battling, but I got 5 useless tan codestones. No red, which I need.

As someone who wants to adjust my stats, I would not be willing to pay NC for these neggs, either. And I spend a lot of money on Neopets, including premium. This is a long overdue feature. Had they made it pay only, they would have had a revolution on their hands. People are rightfully sick of the pay-to-play direction Neo has been heading in, creating a bigger and bigger class divide of 'haves' and 'have nots'.

As for the Wheel of Knowledge, I've been spinning it daily for decades, and I still don't have the avatar. I also have rarely gotten a job coupon. If I got the avatar, a job coupon would not be an incentive to keep spinning. They could add Hawaiian vacations to the wheel and that wouldn't be an incentive to keep spinning. Once I have the avatar, I will never touch that freakin' wheel again.

Now that job coupons that have been dropping from other activities, I still haven't been using them because there are better, more rewarding activities on Neopets these days.

@ neolodgeism I am speaking for myself. I don't think they should be nc items, just that others who need them said they were willing to pay nc for stat decreasers. I think they should be in the Neggery.

You will get even less red codestones now because the prize pool has expanded to include soon to be junk slices, similar to the bottled faeries that were outrageously expensive for 5 days or so.

@topaz644 - You said "We do daily battles for codestones to GAIN stats, not to lose them," and I'm just saying that's not the motivator for everyone, and not everyone is solely focused on gaining stats. There are many scenarios where people want to decrease and rebalance stats, and these neggs will be useful.

I won't mind getting these negg slices in the prize pool. There are a lot of junk items I'd remove before I'd remove those.

@timbergray: if you go below the level requirement for a faerie ability, it will prevent you from using it, but it won't go away, it just stays disabled until you get your level back up again.

@morganjoisle I don't remember if he was already -1 when I got him or not (I know that's a thing) but over time it randomly went down I think from random events. Actually he was at -4 at one point but my foolish self took him to Coltzan's shrine and he got a level! I never actually saw the random event but I would go on the boards a lot so I wonder if I missed it during page refreshes. That's my theory! Haven't done down in levels in a while though unfortunately, maybe because I'm not so active anymore.
