i really want to love the burlap but the different eye colors bug me. it gives the illusion that they're two different sizes....
the black should have been a softer denim blue or something

Wow, the Burlap looks... bad....... the texture is completely different from other Burlaps, the overall lines look messy/auto-traced, the expression is lopsided, the eyes are hilariously overrendered compared to the rest of the art...?? Like there's gradient/shading/detail/highlights on the eyes but the rest of the art is flat, barely shaded, with flat-looking crosshatch texture instead of having more dimension. It feels like they got a completely new artist for this and didn't show them what any of the previous Burlaps looked like. I don't normally feel so strongly about new colors, but WOW they dropped the ball on this, and as a Hissi fan, I'm really really disappointed. :/

Outfit is less egregious, but I'm still not a big fan. There's no reason for the body to not conform more to the standard model imo, and I'm still not a fan of "outfits" that just replace the entire base art in parts, making each piece useless without the others. On the bright side, I am glad it isn't NC.

The background is gorgeous though, and the plushie is cute! The orchid Hissi looks way more on-model and in line with other Hissi art, so that's nice too.

Erm… not enough burlap in that Burlap. Had to do a double take, as I was thinking we already had Plushie. It looks especially off when you compare the different detailing between the eyes & the rest of it.

Shading and linework is extremely offmodel if we're comparing quality. I think they should keep their understudy on copy pasting art just a little while longer.

Was the Burlap Hissi a beta version that was accidentally released ala the Valentine Hissi? The shading and texturing on it is just so flat and off compared to other burlap pets. It looks unfinished.

On the plus side, the Kastraliss background is GORGEOUS. Big props to whichever artist did that one.

So odd that they choose the "stuffing beaten out" of him look for the Burlap Hissi, makes it look very off. Should've picked a different pose.

I dig the Basilisk costume and Orchid Hissi is nice as well

The outfit is pretty cool, wasn't liking the wing removal at first but I've warmed up to the idea of just making it a full snake.

That is the weakest Burlap so far. Why does it not look like the others? Feels so flat and uninteresting...

Like others have said I'm a little taken back by the burlap color. Maybe it's because of how low the saturation on it is? Something along those lines.

I think the Hissi is cute IF it was a stand-alone thing or a Plushie. Not in the Burlap category. Also the eyes are really odd. Don't like the outfit either. The pose/neck area is weird.

the base is cute! the eyes are so strange, they're in a totally different art style... i wonder if they split the work between multiple artists? love the NP background, it's very pretty

I asked for a kastraliss outfit on the species day board so I hope it at least influenced the excellent background into existence by reminding them of the character

Slap in the face for all Lupe fans. Hissi got so much cool stuff and Lupe literally got nothing, only some half-assed designs.

I first saw the Burlap on my phone, and since we can't zoom in on the new layout here, I thought there wasn't ANY texture on it. Glad to see there is one, but it almost looks like they forgot to turn on a layer or two before uploading.

The capsule is still gross, but at least they didn't break up the main outfit this time. Still, if they're gonna do pet day NC, it should be a superpack, with all but maybe one bonus item sold separately. (how long has it been since we've had a non-capsule, non-tiered NC release?)

I always dislike Burlap as it's just not my colour, but why does this one look a lot.. softer than the others? More plush-like and less... ehm.. scary scarecrow.. Odd decision.

The Mystical Hissi looks even more odd though. I mean, I get snakes don't have wings/hands, but.. seeing a Hissi without hands is just even more weird. Or maybe the head's just positioned wrong?

And the NC outfit.. I think it's boring. If you like it, that is fine. But to me it looks like any of the already available outfits, somehow *shrugs*

Burlap is... weird somehow? It doesn't have shading, and it feels too light... I can't put my fingers on what is bothering me though. 🤔 Pet ofutfit is good, happy to see there's no hissi nc trash. Background is stunning!

Is the outfit inspired on HP? I'm in doubt. But if it is, why was the lupe nc outfit cancelled and this not? Strange. Not that I approve the nc pet day caps, but it's still contradictory.
I think the burlap art was made by the same artist who has been drawing a lot of newer nc stuff lately. Their style is cute, but flat, so not fitting for the burlap color, I guess.
Nice bgs tho, both np and nc. The nc one reminds me of Mushishi, maybe I should plan an outfit

Basilisks are mythical creatures. The one in HP doesn't have spikes if I remember correctly.

Not a huge fan of the Burlap Hissi, I'd love to see them adjust it a bit as it seems far too soft with the eyes having absorbed all the detail.

Ugh, Burlap Hissi looks awful, more like a very worn out plushie, instead of all the other Burlap pets that look so nice.

TNT, can you please do a re-draw of this to make it look better??

I feel like they designed the cap for me, I love orchids and they finally listened and made the outfit all one piece. At the same time I still think the outfit should have been NP with the background and trinkets being OK as NC items.

The Burlap I have mixed feelings on, on the one hand I like that this one looks like it’s made out of burlap again after the last several haven’t had the burlap fabric texture and just looked like plushies, with the Burlap Cybunny and Burlap Mynci being particularly egregious examples of non-burlap burlaps. On the other they forgot to make the left eye smaller to account for perspective and I agree they didn’t do the shading properly. I feel like they lost track of the fact that players wanted burlap because it originally had a creepy scarecrow aesthetic.

The basilisk is OK, although I feel like it’s too different from the Hissi. To me it looks more like Ark style basilisk instead of Harry Potter style basilisk. Then again the one in Ark is probably based on Harry Potter. Mythologically the name “basilisk” means “little king” and reflects that mythological basilisks tended to be small with their hazardous nature coming from their lethal gaze and sometimes poisonous bite instead of brute strength.

I hope if they're going to change it, they do so soon (or at least announce that they'll be changing it) :') I'd hate to put the effort into getting a burlap Hissi just to have it changed on me

Don't want to turn the pot considering what happened with the Lupe Day comments *sigh*, but I wished the Mythical Hissi more resembled the traditional appearance of the Basilisk. Traditional Basilisk had a head and legs of a chicken (since its a snake/toad's egg that was hatched by a chicken); for a time it was often synonymous with the Cockatrice (though it's from a chicken's egg hatched by a snake/toad; very important difference). Granted the Mutant Pteri is essentially one, though I think they could have added at least a bird's beak and changed the Hissi's wing hands to arms that look like chicken legs and would have made it stand out more.

@ pikachu315111 - I think as with dragons there wasn’t really one universal traditional form for the basilisk. From what I’ve read it ranged from being essentially a cockatrice with a different name, a creature with a serpent’s tail, chicken’s head, chicken’s wings and optional chicken legs and claws (possibly feathered, possibly scaled like a lizard), to being a more or less normal looking serpent or lizard with a crown-like crest on its head. Castlevania uses basically the same sprite for both but then again Castlevania used pallet swaps to save itself some effort.

I kinda love that burlap, all soft and plushie like! Eyes are not the best but I still love it ! The background is incredible too!

The burlap looks so silly, I love it. I do get that burlaps were originally meant to look creepy, though... Maybe we could get this version as a wearable?

Still hate the concept of pet day NC capsules, but at least they're finally merging all the body pieces.

I was waiting so eagerly for a Burlap Hissi, but it's definitely not what I wanted... I agree with many others that the art for it is very flat, non-textured, and kinda boring for it to be burlap. I really wanted the arms/wings to be different colors, maybe have some hay poking out of some of the seams. Not this beaten plushie look. Also really weird choice to do one yellow eye and one dark?? Like, if you're going to do two different colors for the eyes, don't make them contrast so harshly. It makes it look very off balance. *Sigh*
