Tales of Dacardia Update and Spring "Event"

Yesterday, Tales of Dacardia released update 1.6.0, which includes some significant UI updates, Wheel of Prizes update, and a "Spring Celebration" event.

User Interface (UI) Updates
This update has brought some pretty significant updates to the user interface. The overworld icons have been rearranged slightly and given labels.

Additionally, the hunger mechanic has had some tweaks. Pets will now display a hunger level icon above them when starving; this can be seen in the image above! Feeding a pet will also make clear exactly how much of their hunger bar is being filled. Finally, hunger levels are displayed when assigning a pet for an activity.

Wheel of Prizes Update
A message in the announcements panel in the app also confirms an update to possible Neopets.com prizes from the Wheel of Prizes.

Interestingly, the announcement actually mentions the possible prizes, though does not specify which come from the NeoPass slot and which come from the Bonus Chest. These are the items mentioned:

Handsome Valentine Quiguki

King Altador Valentine Tricycle

Scorchio Valentine Cake

Valentines Boy Usuki

Valentines Girl Usuki

Lovely Lime Easter Negg

Heart Sprinkle Cupcake

Spring Celebration Event
Here's what's new for the event:

A free 10-day daily login calendar, available from today (March 20th) through April 8th
The Rainbow Paint Brush and Cherry Blossom Paint Brush make their debut in the Premium Parlour
Lots of new Spring-themed decorations and hats in the Pearly Parlour and Premium Parlour

There are no extra quests or activities related to the event.

Now when you feed a pet you have to use more food to full the bar... I don't like it.

It used to take 3 seaweed omelettes to fill the bar, now it takes *10*.

The hunger meter better take longer to deplete as well!

@neolodgeism it seems to go down by 1% every hour. we're still working on confirming precise timing there, but if it's not exactly that it's close to that.

Not too sure what it was before, since we didn't have numbers before! But anecdotally, I would guess it was around the same. It would take my pets around 4ish days to go from fully fed to completely hungry.

Before it took 1 day to go through the food generated by one common omelette like a seaweed omelette or apple berry omelette. Now if the 1% per hour rule is true it takes less than a day to go through that.

I wish they’d increase the amount of stuff you could ask the Neopets to gather, especially if we need to feed them more now.

The new UI is awful. Way too messy. Not a fan of the food changes as well. It takes way too much food to fill up a pet compared to how it used to. Honestly they should just scrap the food mechanic, or make it so food is a buff rather than a debuff (i.e. if they're fed, they gather faster, rather than the current state of not being able to gather if they hungry).

Combined with the changes to the quests (that make the quests so annoying to actually try to complete!!!), the game is somehow even less fun to play than when it first came out.

Can someone tell me what they mean about the paint brushes?

"It seems like the Meepits had gone around, switching the paintbrushes and the debris that have been spawning around the Dacardian Coast!

We've gone and made it so that the proper paintbrush shows up for Kougra (the rainbow paintbrush), and made it so that the debris might become a bit... saltier..."

@dragon_hatcher_ when the update first came out, the Kougra couldn't be painted with the Rainbow Paint Brush. That was now fixed. Not all pets can be painted with all paint brushes. We have a full guide on this in the works that we will have ready...eventually...some day

As for the debris, they seem to have added Salt (among other things) to the possible prizes from debris piles on the shore. This is good because now that Buddy Bulletin Board quests are asking for specific items to be crafted, one of those items is an omelette that needs Salt as an ingredient and there was no way to get it before!

Did anyone else never receive their Day 10 Valentine's Day compensation prize? Mine never showed up. All other NP rewards, etc. are showing up instantly. I'm upset because it's a book worth over half a mil, so of COURSE it's going to be the prize that bugs out.

Idk what's going on with the new..... revamp, I guess? But....
It's really unconfortable to hit the gathering spots and quest log. At least the quest log has a touchable Icon In the menu now, but It doesn't help me at all with everything else. Now I have to approach the screen to nail the gathering spot after touching It many times anyway, whatever the reason....
