UPDATE: Kacheekers, Geos, and Armada have been taken offline while TNT investigates. If you were already in a game, you may still be able to continue playing—we highly recommend that you avoid these games and not continue playing for the month. The only official statement is this one below, and we do not know when these games will return:

Jellyneo has recently been given information on a live hack on the Neopets website. Playing the multiplayer games Kacheekers, Geos, and Armada can lead to your account details being maliciously stolen.

This information has already been reported to TNT via ambassadors. Until a fix is confirmed, do not visit any pages for Kacheekers, Geos, or Armada.

If you have played these games in the last several days, we recommend changing your password ASAP. If you have NeoPass, you can do that here; if you do not, you can do it here.

I personally would update both password and pin, if only since we aren't 100% certain when the hack started.

The hacks apparently change your pet's petpage to include your sensitive information. I hosted games with myself and didn't seem to see anything out of the ordinary except Geos and Armada not working (but that might be because they just took them down).

I don't want these games to die.

Hey to be fair, I only went because I want to take screenshots and save the code of the pages for future reconstructions.

They are taking these games down and they will NEVER be back. We are seeing lost media in action.

I've been playing Neopets off and on since 2003 (Yes, I'm old), and I have never once played one of these games. Many years ago I think I tried a couple times, but either no one else was playing when I did, or I couldn't get them to work for some other reason.

I honestly entirely forgot they even existed, but leave it to bad actors to create the Streisand Effect.

I’m glad I got trophies for those bit sad they arent all gold. Also sad to see the games probably go and never come back, like KeyQuest, Habitarium and Bilge Dice before them.

@delia357panda -- when in doubt, change it out. Changing a PW is a hassle, but it's nothing compared to having your account hacked and looted, then claimed and used by a third party.

@delia357panda i personally make it a habit to switch passwords for a lot of my accounts every few months are so, since you never know when stuff like this will happen
it’s less of a hassle if you keep it in a digital password book (your browser probably has one, but you can get an app too to make sure you don’t forget ^__^)

Today when I tried to visit the Giant Omelette and the Governor's Mansion on Krawk Island, my computer said "Your connection is not secure" and that hackers might be trying to steal my information, so I would say it's probably best to avoid going there for now

WOW this is the first time I've ever actually signed up for Kacheekers, and I was hacked. All the NC items I had in my inventory are now gone entirely. Fortunately I had my pin on my bank account, and it looks like nothing else was taken- but this stinks. There was a lot of stuff in there.

@gamergirl33119: That sounds like a local issue where your browser had an issue fetching the SSL certificate for the Neopets domain for some reason. It happens from time to time. Very likely *not* related to anything in this post (which is a good thing!)

So when the site was being really slow a few days ago, Chrome kept saying that neopets wasn't going to a safe domain, it kept going to http: and not https: - I can see you've said above Dave that that can be a local issue, but I did have that a few days ago, it kept taking a few tries of going on the same page to get it securely (I didn't proceed when it was http) - I did find that very odd as I've never had that before, and haven't had it since despite doing nothing to change my settings... but I'm no expert, just thought I'd raise!

I havent ever played any of these for the 20 years I have been on. I have the birthday thing turned on always and the code authentication thing on my phone for all my accounts - hopefully that means I am good????? How scary. I would literally be devastating to loose over 20 years of progress.

were you able to get any trophy other than bronze? I gave up these three games after playing for a couple month last year and realized it was all glitched and can't seem to acquire any trophy after bronze, and now it seems I'll never be able to update those trophies

I've got trophies for two of those games but they're really old, from 2007 I think or even older. I've changed so many pws (and PINs) since then. Does it mean I'm good, right?

I'm curious about the multiplayer aspect (apparently an outdated code) being involved in this exploit. Could this also be the reason for the World Challenges being taken down from the site?
I used to love World Challenges. :-(

At those who suggested, I did change my password just to be safe. Also, with the Neopass verification code thing should be safe right? I have been a member since 2003 and to my knowledge, I haven't heard anything like this happening before. I did take like a 4-5 year hiatus and returned by August 2024, so I don't know if anything happened in those years.

As far as I can remember, it happened something similar (vulnerable code exploit) in the very old days of Neo, before the Viacom takeover (i.e. before 2005; I think it was in 2001). In more recent years there was a massive security breach in July-August 2022, when TNT for your protection locked all of us out of our accounts, invalidated all PWS and forced us to change them.
