This has better been something they had initially planned doing but then the plot went on haitus.

Though eitherway, they had several months to prepare for the next plot steps and the first new opponent we're getting coming back is a rehash? You don't want to maybe bump up an opponent with a more unique design?

@pikachu315111 I think that's being a little pedantic. We don't know what they have planned, or why this is the only opponent. Also the other opponents are based on existing models because I'm pretty sure the theme is corruption

Maybe they uploaded him to test him out? Hope he is much stronger than the OG Pant Devil.

I don't mind the palette swap. I am sure it makes sense story-wise.

I just hope they took the feedback to heart about the tedium of the plot!

I don't get a "corruption" vibe from the Shades. With how they speak I get more of an "emotional negativity" energy from them; they reflect the darker thoughts and emotions which criticize & belittle ourselves with.

* "Shade" itself can be seen part of this theme. While descriptive of their shadowy and ghostly appearance, "shade" can also refer to negative comments such as in the phrase "throwing shade at someone".
* Voidlings represents loneliness & alienation.
* Void Prowler represents distrust & paranoia.
* Void Wyrm represents vengeance & disdain.
* Festering Void Remnant represents shyness & timidity.
* We don't know all its quotes yet, but the we do have one from the Battle Page blurb for "Wretched Wisp" (think they should change it to "Wretched Void Wisp" to keep on the naming theme): "Want my treasures... eh? Just try and take them!". From that I'm going to guess selfishness & greed will be at least part of its representation.

Now, the personalities for Void Wyrm and seemingly Wretched Wisp do match-up with the Snowager and Pant Devil, respectively (thus I don't feel are "corruptions", one because it's not them but creatures mimicking their appearance (MAYBE they could be corrupted members of the same species), and two those are more exaggerations of their personality). Not sure if the Festering Void Remnant matches though.

Overall, while I get why thematically they "recolored" already existing characters matching the negative personalities they represent, I don't see their being a direct connection to the characters themselves hence my cynicism they could have been made more original.

And so, going back to my point, I feel they could use more original Shade designs and the first new opponent back would have been a good chance to show that... but instead we got a "recolor" of the Pant Devil. And there's seemingly no design aesthetic in the escalation of Shades with their strength or negative personality, so if they had desi

so if they had designed a new opponent with a unique design I just feel its better to present it now after a hiatus where they said they'd be working on the plot from feedback they've gotten (which I feel the "recolored" BD opponents would be one of them).

I'm not fighting this monster until we know whether or not it steals weapons.

Then again, the Battledome component did get the popularity vote in the Neopies (and I don't know why)..

I am so excited about this possibility! Especially if it comes with gimmick mechanics like weapon stealing! It'll shake up the plot by being a "expensive weapon sinker" but also forcing us players with strong pets to maybe dish out damage with cheaper weapons!

I don't mind the recycled design, I'm more interested in how they're changing the gameplay so the plot is less BORING. I don't want to fight the same challengers for months to get 200 points per day, that's such a drag

@thecrazyoo: Hahaha, that was my thought for that vote too. I just voted for the daily Void Remnant (were they called that?) collection thing, for at least you could get decent prizes for that with very low effort. But that was the least popular choice, so few people shared my reasoning I guess.

As for this guy stealing weapons.. That sucks..... but we can also opt to.. you know.. not fight him, right? Like.. You can probably still farm your daily 200 plot points by doing the other waves.. So unless this guy hands out a stamp for beating him, I probably won't bother risking losing my now quite expensive weapons (that arguably aren't the best).

This gives off the same vibes as when video games have in-game purchases of "new" character outfits and it's just a recolor of an old one. Would've been cooler if it was actually the pant devil and he was "voided" and maybe angry or something... instead of trying to pass off a rehash of an existing character as a new one.

Why cant they do down time at like the beginning of the new day instead of near the end when some people are able to get on.

I think the best time to do downtime would be in the middle, sometime between 6AM and 6PM ...this way if you did your dailies you're good, but if you didn't get a chance to do your dailies etc. in the earlier hours then you'd still be able to do them later.

That is a smart suggestion. Everyone has a chance to finish and not freak out like now. Yes a game but still we love lol.

That is a great idea to do maintenance in the middle because then it doesn't matter when you normally do your dailies, you would always get the chance to get them done before the next day rolled over no matter what.

But doing maintenance late at night right to the end to the next day is a load of crap!

Sorry to hear not everyone got to do their dailies.. To me, the site worked fine when I logged off last night and it's just down when I woke up, so I'm lucky.. It especially bites for those who had yet to vote on the Neopies, as they might be missing out on a prize later down the line now. Kind of rude... Let's hope there was a good reason for this!

I think they feel like at the end of the night or early morning is all good cause less people perhaps. I am a night owl, came on looking to play and move around neocash.

I am getting off since the day has turned over and need to relax and not be mad. Hopefully they will say something tomorrow and extend neopies voting and so forth.

You'd think at this point, TNT would have a way or be willing to prevent everyone's dailies/quest log/etc from resetting every single time THEY decide to do maintenance and prevent people from finishing their late night dailies. I usually do mine a couple hours before neopets time rolls over, but THANKFULLY I was awake early enough this morning to do them before starting my day. Why don't they do maintenance an hour or so AFTER the site rolls over? So it's done right away, right after the neopia day starts, and everyone can safely do their dailies the rest of the day. Makes no sense. I hope this fix this some time today because I was due to get my weekly prize and if I miss it and have to redo a WHOLE WEEK for a prize I'm not even thrilled about... I will be mad. -o-

If it was "scheduled" then we would have known about it in advance and JN would have announced it to warn us.
No idea whether that means this is emergency maintenance because they suddenly needed to fix something or if for some reason they decided not to announce it even though they surely knew it would upset people for the site to be down this long without any warning, but either way it displays TNT's typical lack of communication and foresight. It's not the end of the world, but it's enough to be mildly annoying at the very least.

Yeah, that. It was either scheduled, and they should've given us a headsup, or not, and that just happens but needs a different communication. But I'm thinking they likely only have one image to pop in place for when something goes wrong.

Hope they fix it soon. Given that it's been hours, and it's likely the middle of the night wherever the IT bods are working at it, it likely isn't a small thing. Good luck, bods.

This wasn't scheduled at all, it was sudden and long lasting... I think something went the wrong way

Still down, nothing posted that I can see on FB. I don't have the other social media so not sure if anyone knows why it's down and for so long.

No one knows, no signs from the TNT. The last two scheduled maintainances lasted 12 hours, maybe it'll be the same now... Did it started at 9 pm NST?

The site being down is wrecking my morning routine but oh well... Hope it comes back sometime along the next 6h otherwise there goes my neoday ooops

Ooops... I was looking at EST! Soooo... a bit after 4am NST and still down.

Soooo annoying. I’m in Aus so I get my stuff done anytime between 7pm (when new neo day starts) and 12-1am. I never have time the next day as I am always running late to work and don’t usually get home much earlier than 7pm. At the end of the day, it’s a game, but the lack of communication is just so frustrating!

Sure hope this means they're putting the SKIP BUTTON BACK, or recreating another one at the top

Am I the only one who loves Void Pant Devil? He looks amazing. I don't need everything to be unique. After all, this is happening in NEOPIA. It seems inevitable that some of the preexisting creatures will be corrupted.

It is very laggy but mostly seems to work. Huzzah!

Was able to do the quest log, neopies, trudy and some of the most important dailies. All very laggy. Decided to skip the less important dailies and get off the site, they're clearly still having problems.
