Wheel of Celebration Extended to November 30th

At some point today, TNT has silently updated the Wheel of Celebration page to state that it goes "to November 30th."

Prior to today, the page said "to November 25th," so this appears to be an extra 5 days of spins!

~~At the time of writing, this change has not yet been formally announced anywhere by TNT.~~ UPDATE, NOVEMBER 19, ~3AM NST: TNT has now posted an announcement on their official Neoboard, which includes the additional update that watching an ad is no longer required for non-Premium players to get a second spin.

Hey Neopians! Your feedback about the spins not activating properly didn't go unnoticed, and we've made some changes! To ensure everyone gets the full experience, we're extending the Wheel of Celebration event through November 30th and removing the ad requirement for the second spin.
This means everyone can now enjoy 2 spins every day—no ads needed!
Thanks for your patience and happy spinning!

I sure hope they have also made it so people can actually watch the ad to get a second spin.
A LOT of people have complained about it to TNT!

At this point it's just a matter of watching the world burn to me... No ads loading and I see more people realizing that they might just miss a very specific avatar that won't rerun if luck isn't on their side for 2 weeks. I can kinda see a lot of the AC board complaining about it later.

They never should have implemented the whole "watch an ad for an extra spin" system and they wouldn't be in this mess. I'm worried that they were testing that feature for other site features like Wheel of Knowledge that only gets one spin a day.

I have premium and don't have to watch an ad for a free 2nd spin. That seems pretty fair to me. However, getting neopoints twice today did not feel great lol

I'm also someone who can't watch the ad for another spin, so I'm grateful for more opportunities to try and get the av! The only method I've seen consistently work is folks using VPNs to access the site from the US, but I'm not doing all that for a wheel spin on Neopets.

I'm just glad they're addressing this at all, tbh. I wouldn't have put it past them to roll out a barely-functional event, do nothing about it, and then just let it pass and never speak of it again.

WOW! Thanks, that’s really great TNT!! And thanks to JN too!! I feel like many of us who have complained about the issues that we have had with this birthday celebration would have been missed by TNT had it not been for the work you all do for us at JN!
And I’m sure that some of the TNT members also read the comments here at JN, and I’m hoping that this also helped to fix a lot of the issues.
I’m able to watch the 2nd ad now without a problem or having to refresh the page over and over again! And the 1000NC was finally deposited in my account!

Now I really hope that other Neopians still having problems will have those issues addressed and fixed ASAP! And especially players that don’t live in the US who have to download programs they don’t want to just to take part of the celebrations…I hope that their issues are also fixed ASAP as well!

Ah, just as I somewhat suspected. Since they can't get the ad system to work reliably (it appears I do get a 10 minute ad on... something world changing... but I can't view it. Clicking the "picture-in-picture" button that appears on my Firefox, opens the ad for a split second and it does nothing for my second spin), it's wise that they just give us more days instead.

It seems that they have removed the watching ads requirement for the second spin. I can spin the second time today without watching ads (I have no premium).

Can confirm, I didn't turn my VPN on even, got two spins without watching an add. No premium.
Got 25k and a Haunted Chess set. Got the avvie and the stamp yesterday

Still hoping to get some of the NC items.

I'm glad they found a way to remedy the problem, an extension and turning the ads off is fair.

Interestingly enough, I didn't have to watch an ad to get my second spin today. I took my adblocker off and went back to the wheel page, but there was no "Watch an ad to spin again" button, just "Spin the wheel." I hope this is true for everyone and they're just automatically giving everyone two spins from here on.

I don't even get why they did the "watch an ad" thing to get the 2nd spin. If they wanted to make some extra money on the side, why didn't they just make another NC wheel which gave out retired & highly wanted NC wearables, Capsules & such but you have to buy a "Spin Pack" like with other events.

@biediep: Did you get a Tyrannian Food just now?

Because the weird thing is that today I got the Sparkler Cake (or whatever it's called) and I've been hearing some others who landed on the Food space recently also got the cake. It's sounding like they may have removed all the Tyrannian Food and it's now just the cake. I think they must have used the Wheel of Mediocrity's code (or part of it) to make the wheel and accidentally left the Tyrannian Food part of the code for the Food space. Though it's odd after seemingly removing the Tyrannian Food they didn't replace it with a few other Birthday-themed food items.

This is nice, but the watching ads thing needs to be fixed.
It’s already hard enough to try and load the wheel on the page. Something about it along with regular ads makes the entire thing lag and not load right, leading to the page refreshing itself. It’s even worse on mobile.
I also feel for people who land on the avatar spot, store discount spot or the NP spot constantly, it’s basically like getting nothing. And the discount isn’t even that good!! Let the discounts stack if you get more than one!!

This seems like fair compensation for some players not being able to spin the wheel 2x the first few days. It seems like they just did away with ad entirely, which was a good call on TNT’s part! I don’t mind watching an ad for a few seconds but the fact that it only worked for some people was not fair and not a good look.

Thank Moltara I can keep my adblockers on! I don't need Premium, nor can I afford it, and adblockers are free, so that whole thing was insane to me.

Now all I wish is that we could get something - even another spin like the WoK - if we already won the avatar. I've gotten "nothing" on the first spin 2 days in a row now due to having the av.

Still unsure why they limited the plot items though; Where are the RoDS items? TFR? BFM? I saw this as a great way to get some RIC items as well (Darkest Knight Action Figure WHEN??) but those aren't in here either. They could've even put in more Zappermajigs.

I wonder if they could replace the junk foods for RIC items, since so many are super pricey and hard to find. I just wanna have ONE of those Darkest Knight figures...Though to have on in real life would be even better.

I'm a Premium user, so I had no issues, but happy to see others be able to enjoy the extra spin of the wheel now.

I do feel like I land on the same spots more than I'd like, but dems de breaks...

I have the av and the pbs and the stamp already. I had all those NC items and most of those old plot prizes already. The food category's kind of ridiculous but at least you cannot get sick from this wheel, or lose items, etc.

I'm still hoping for the confetti cannon or some stats. Nice to have the extra days to try for them. Thanks TNT! And also to JN for the heads up!

Oh, thank buck. Too bad I didn't see it before I could suddenly spin a second time, but at least starting tomorrow, I won't have to try to get the VPN to randomly connect me to a US server that connects to the internet. This has been such a mess, I'm glad they just gave up on the ads, but I wish they had tested it better before "implementing" it, and they should've acted on it sooner. The "watch an ad for an extra spin" mechanic took me back

@lupe691...maybe you're just really unlucky. I got the 25k twice now.

TNT had to remove it...they say you can play best on browser. The problem is (for me at least) is that the browser is not functional but mobile is but mobile was still glitchy. I wonder if all browsers beefed up security or something.

Glad they removed the ad requirement, obviously. Clearly it's not a great idea to have a feature that doesn't work as intended for the majority of players. If we can't see the ad the company probably gets no revenue from it.

I think they may have put it up there to 'test the waters' because of the people who are advocating for some kind of 'watch an ad to win some NC' system.

Have to wonder what type of trackers were packaged with the ad content if the most basic browser/anti-virus security was blocking it.

My problem was the ad would load, but then hang up with 2 seconds left and I couldn't go anywhere from there. And I'm still not entirely sure what the ad was even FOR. Not great marketing.
