The candy color is so funny and great idea making the Peeps portion optional.
Love the cardinal and museum outfit. The nest item is great, and a stamp for those who have been asking. Solid pet day

Oooo I might have to adopt a pteri just for the cardinal wearables.
by shayyy on November 8, 2024 6:29 PM NST
I find it so surreal that now neopets can be items, petpets and melted candy...
by spongegrundo on November 8, 2024 6:32 PM NST
Really cute! Love seeing the creativity
by sailormoon on November 8, 2024 6:38 PM NST
This is interesting. The first pet color I've seen where having the PB clothing vs removing the clothing makes the pet look drastically different. Unless this is the first time TNT did something like this.

Seems any colored Petro can look like a Melted Candy Petri as long as you can obtain the clothing.
by go_bruce on November 8, 2024 6:53 PM NST
For anyone wondering, it's not supposed to be melted candy, it's a very specific candy that's popular around easter time in the US called marshmallow Peeps. It's a glob of marshmallow formed to look vaguely like a bird with little dots for eyes and it's coated in indeterminant flavored colored sugar. Like candy corn, it is hotly debated on whether they taste good or not.
by nightshadeswiftswing on November 8, 2024 7:06 PM NST
I don't think I would've recognized it as a Peep without people mentioning it Looks too much like a glob of toothpaste to me, especially because of how shiny and textured it is. Most Peeps are matte rather than sparkly.
by lasergu on November 8, 2024 7:40 PM NST
Oh, finally a marshmallow peep pteri, the perfect candy for the birb Neopet. Peeps are one of my favourite candies.
by orangeblossom45 on November 8, 2024 7:50 PM NST
Can anyone tell me what the pink thing is? I saw in the comments something like peep but what is that? I also google it and still dont understand

Sorry dont speak english and i dont understand some words x)
by marduk on November 8, 2024 7:58 PM NST
The candy pteri looks exactly like the real thing:

@pangomon thank you for the link! I've never seen these things before

Candy colour took me out and the cardinal clothes are super cute. They did good.
by chocolatjellopudding on November 8, 2024 8:27 PM NST
asdfghjkl
okay I GET that they needed to make it cover the whole body but WHY does it look like they tried microwaving the peep omg

love the wearables. the cardinal eyes are a bit.. unsettling, but overall it's a lovely outfit. First time I've considered using a full-coverage apparel like that.
by goldennightfox on November 8, 2024 9:04 PM NST
OH MY GEE! Pteri Marshmallow Peep is AMAZING! It's so gloopy and fat! It's especially nice that it's removable and there's a shiny, pink Pteri underneath. I also love the cardinal costume and the Aerodactyl skeleton costume! Yeah, yeah, I know it's a pterosaur of some kind. Probably a rhamphorhynchus? I'm still gonna call it Aerodactyl because that's the first thing my brain came up with.

Anyway, the nest looks nice, the stamp looks beautiful! Overall, a great day for Pteri fans!
by powerwingamber on November 8, 2024 9:42 PM NST
OK, I have to say I love the sense of humor on that peep color, and the cardinal is beautiful, as is the skeletal outfit. The background is good (although I REALLY wish they'd look over past items before making a new one. We already have 3 or 4 nest backgrounds/items). And a stamp will always be welcome.

As a pteri lover (who doesn't yet have a pteri) I love all of this.

"It's coated in indeterminant flavored colored sugar. Like candy corn, it is hotly debated on whether they taste good or not."

I'm dead, this is so accurate I don't even know if I like Peeps or candy corn, but I always try a few on their respective holiday before the nostalgia wears off
by cassine on November 8, 2024 9:49 PM NST
That Candy Pteri is a Peep!
by kacheekfan96 on November 8, 2024 10:20 PM NST
Uhh... Hmm, well that colour just looks kinda...... bad. It really isn't reading as a peep, imo. Unclothed is decent enough, but I feel like there was potential to strike a balance between the two.
by thesign2 on November 8, 2024 10:22 PM NST
The valentine's peeps where the marshmallow was actually strawberry flavored was the best! I don't like any other peeps and they don't make the other seasonal ones anymore. This is adorable! I love the unclothed version so much
That cardinal though... the realistic pet outfits are always hit or miss for me, but have they ever seen a bird's eyes...? This is so scary
by mercy_graves on November 8, 2024 11:04 PM NST
As a non-american, unfamiliar with ‘peeps’, my initial thought was that it was a new colour for Pile of Dung, like Rainbow Dung. The latter is one of my Grarrl’s favourite treats, so I guess I wasn’t far off.
by recklesse on November 8, 2024 11:28 PM NST
I'm in love with the stamp! Neovia characters have such good designs that I always love seeing them get to be in the spotlight now and then.
by miranai on November 9, 2024 12:14 AM NST
i like the cardinal,
i just wish they hadn't redrawn the eyes but kept the pteri's natural eye shape. it's got them crazy eyes
by inkpot on November 9, 2024 12:36 AM NST
I'm glad the unclothed version has a dusting if sugar on it (and that it's option) but nothings really gonna beat the clothed side, absolute perfection
by sonora on November 9, 2024 1:54 AM NST
Birb is not a word, Jellyneo. I expected better of you

The Candy colour itself looks nice, but the clothing is just weird. So this is a reference to some US candy eh? Why not go for something else, that's more actually-bird shaped and recognisable in other parts of the world that isn't the US? This is just.. so weird... Just... no...

The skeleton museum outfit is nice, and fits well with the other ones already released. Another Tyrannian pet for the museum! But... I never knew what I assume were tufts of hair.. are actually part of their skull structure...

The real-life birD outfit is cute, recognisable.. but why are the eyes so lifeless? I know they are like that on the real birD too, but this is a fantasy website, dangit!
by apophis324 on November 9, 2024 1:58 AM NST
these!! are all!! so cute!!! whoever is drawing these new colors/clothing sets is cooking

and I recognized the candy pteri as a peep instantly despite not being from the US and not seeing any of them irl lol
it's super cute and recognizable
by glaniara on November 9, 2024 2:05 AM NST
Peeps are one of my favorite things ever! I still would never use a pet color that alters the pet that drastically, but it's cute!
by dimir31blueblack on November 9, 2024 2:43 AM NST
Wow pteris got a REALLY good pet day this year! I'm not even usually a fan (even though Ido have a couple), but that color is hilarious/cute, the outfits are both great, and and there are new items for people who customize and collect stamps.
by forfeitreality on November 9, 2024 3:35 AM NST
I was looking at that pink blob and wondering if it was supposed to look like cotton candy or something, when I realised it was supposed to be a peep. That is a VERY American thing to do. I only know of them because an american friend sent me some once for Easter. I doubt they'll be known in any other country. Weirdly specific and not non-Planet-America friendly. (Although I did just read they are apparently also known in Canada. So, one other country). But then again, Neopets has never been very non-planet-america friendly really.
by woodstocki on November 9, 2024 5:38 AM NST
The cardinal outfit has intense eyes because cardinals are intense viscous little birds that will fight you and everyone you love lol. They’re pretty birds but they are filled with so much rage for anything slightly resembling another cardinal that isn’t their mate. The eyes work.
by nightshadeswiftswing on November 9, 2024 6:17 AM NST
I second @recklesse, I really thought it was glittery poop since it's so trend nowadays with those trashy overpriced unicorn "toys" that are just an excuse to throw more plastic in the ocean.
by ferinsy on November 9, 2024 7:15 AM NST
@apophis324 while I agree it was hard for every non-american to understand what was that, probably TNT thought it was something very universal, like americans think everything about them is lol

But I still think it was an amazing idea once it was explained. Really funny and well done. Still think the criticism is really valid because around the world this meant nothing, but at least they were very very creative
by asmodhieus on November 9, 2024 7:22 AM NST
Hotly debated? I don't know anyone who is concerned about the FLAVOUR of Peeps, It's main appeal seems to be the WAY one eats a Peep. Bite the head off first? These are the important decisions.
Winter holiday Peeps, my favourite, the gingerbreadman. They are coated in gingerbread flavoured sugar. But these... THESE... four limbs and a head to bite off? What order?!! They come in packs of four or five. All the same order? Different? That's the joy of Peeps
by roshchodesh on November 9, 2024 8:07 AM NST
Love the idea of the peep, love that's optional, love what's underneath...
But, as someone else said, it totally looks like they tried to microwave the poor thing :p Very funny either way ^^
by mornaistare on November 9, 2024 11:55 AM NST
Well I'm from continental Europe and I already knew Peeps (even if they aren't sold here), yet if people didn't mention it in the comments here I wouldn't have thought of it. Guess I'm more familiar with the yellow chick- and bunny-shaped Easter Peeps.

The Neovian Printing Press Chick (ah!) is my Pteri's secret crush, so I have to buy that stamp .
by rosi on November 9, 2024 2:21 PM NST
Are non Americans really upset about the Peep Pteri?? Also how do you not know WHAT a Peep is.. in late 2024??? I GUESS that's why they made the NON Peep Pteri option for y'all..

I love the Candy Pteri and the Cardinal outfit even MORE! Great job, TNT. I just wish we could get two colors a year again.
by mzlish on November 9, 2024 8:26 PM NST
I don't normally do double replies, but coming back here and seeing all the complaints about the Peep Pteri is a little sad. Yes, it's an American confectionery (although I could have sworn the U.K. and Japan had versions of it, too), but why is that bad? Why would that make people upset? =/ I mean, for years Neopets had mainly U.K. references with a lot of the older items, like the candies, and even some Neopet colors, like the Christmas Pteri (oh, Pteri again!), even down to the spelling of many words even to this day. At first, I didn't get it, since I didn't get the references to a lot of them, but once I looked them up, I was like, 'Oh! That's really cool/neat/yummy!' and ended up liking the color/item/pet/whatever even more.

Oh, and I am one of those people who loves eating Peeps (my three favorites are the special edition cinnamon, matcha tea, and vanilla bean flavored ones) and I WILL stick them in the microwave to watch them get huge and blobby because I think that's hilarious.
by powerwingamber on November 10, 2024 6:48 AM NST
The Peep Pteri probably looks this way 1. due to the proportions of the Pteri, gotta cover it all up (though they could just make it function like the Black Kadoatie and Usuki items where it "transforms" your pet, but I digress), and 2. to avoid copyright issues, as I'm sure Peeps have some kind of copyright against using their image/shape without permission. So, people who know, know it looks like a Peep, just not exactly like one to avoid copyright.

I will add that the fact it looks like a microwaved Peep is hilarious, and honestly what I would go with if I were to paint a Pteri Candy.
by agent_711 on November 10, 2024 7:04 AM NST
I don't think anybody's upset about it. Just making a comment that without knowledge of that reference it looked a little 'odd'.

I find it amusing and a little comment-worthy, not upsetting. I certainly wasn't complaining in any way.
by recklesse on November 10, 2024 7:25 AM NST
Oh no! I need it! I don't have room for it!

Why do so many of the candy ones have to be so good?
by infernodragon02 on November 10, 2024 1:46 PM NST
@mzlish Not sure anyone is upset over it.

"Also how do you not know WHAT a Peep is.. in late 2024???"

That's not hard to imagine, if you realise that these things are typically not sold outside North America. Sure, the US shows us a lot of their stuff through television and movies but not everything, thankfully. It's only been a decade since American candy started being sold here, and peeps haven't made it yet. Nor has candy corn. Or red vines. Or Hershey's kisses. Or salt water taffee. Or maple syrup candies. The American candy that IS sold here is rare, expensive and frankly most of the time not nearly as tasty as our own candy.

Do you know what pepernoten are? Or hutspot? Duivekater? No? How can you possibly not know? These things have existed in the Netherlands since at LEAST the 1600's! They are very seasonal! One of them even has historical importance! Some've been portrayed in famous paintings! You must have run into it at some point. Wow, can't believe you didn't know. Gosh! /s
by woodstocki on November 10, 2024 2:54 PM NST
@powerwingamber, if there was a note of frustration in my comment, it comes from 25 years of experience on the net with Planet America, where non-americans are not catered to in games, webshops, payment options, giveaways, information, streaming services, timings, themes, stories, etc. It gets tedious, being from The Rest of the World sometimes, and getting excluded time and time again.

In this case, I wasn't really frustrated, it just seemed a little odd to make something that is just not very recognisable. Even if apparently 65% (per the latest AMA) of users are from the US. That means 1 in 3 players ISN'T. And if you don't cater to those, they are less likely to feel included, appreciated, or show up at all. I don't expect an American to want to play a Netherlands focused game either, or appreciate content that is very specifically aimed at Dutch people. The odd person with an affinity for the specific Dutch thing will, but most likely won't.

You do raise an interesting point about the British thing. I think that is different for me as my country is much closer geographically, historically, culturally and ethnographically to the UK.

Sidenote: the Red Cardinal outfit is also North American aimed. It's a gorgeous little birb, but it doesn't live outside the North American continent. However, that is still at least more recognisable that the pink blob
by woodstocki on November 10, 2024 3:22 PM NST
More of a bunny peep fan here but yeah, bird makes sense, just wish they'd gone for yellow or white

Purple/Peep oreos were some of their BEST LE~
(bring them back! ;~; )
by stuffie on November 11, 2024 1:00 PM NST
Dang, in a past editorial they said they'd consider separating the wings/body/feet so that we could mix and match bird features better, but looks like it's all or nothing again. Cardinals are cool but I want the chance to combine stuff to make a bird that I can actually see locally!

Disappointing Pteri day for people outside North America.
