Neopets "25th Birthday Bash" Community Event Cities Announced

Last month, TNT announced plans to have 25 community-run events in 25 cities to celebrate their 25th birthday. Applications to host opened on September 18.

This week, selected hosts have been receiving their notifications. And this morning, TNT has released an official list of host cities, expanded to 40 after receiving over 300 applications! The selected cities are as follows:

What can you expect at the events? The announcement states that "each event will be unique in its offerings" as it is up to the individual hosts to plan, but that TNT will provide "merchandise giveaways" and "virtual prize codes."

The announcement currently promises "details coming soon" for all 40 cities.

That's my general fear. These are all user volunteer hosted. Some may end up being better than others depending on how much work they put into it. The larger cities may end up being really cool but smaller cities I'm a bit hesitant on what it's going to be like

These will be held by users, so I know most of them will at least have some effort. If it was something done by TNT, I could see it being 40 Woka Experiences. And I expect some of these to be free, so at least it'll be a meetup with other players. I'll try to go to the São Paulo one.

I might have to go to my local event. I would love to spend an afternoon with fellow Neopets fans. Even if it turns out to be boring or awkward, at least I'd have put myself out there, and it also sounds like we're going to get prize codes, etc.

People who are nervous to go alone, I recommend saying which city you're from (if you're comfortable doing so) so that those of us who are willing to act as a buddy can reach out and make arrangements to arrive together.

Yeah it's crazy how short notice this is. It's in like two weeks and we don't even have details outside of a date range and cities. There's supposed to be pricing, venues, and rsvping at a later date but if I were a host that's not enough time to purchase and plan an event.

That being said I'm curious to see how the KCMO one turns out but the anxiety of going alone and not knowing anyone is so high. I guess at worse I just end up having a day in KC not doing neopets stuff haha

Normally I avoid Austin like the plague, but for this event I might make an exception. It ultimately depends on the day and what time the event is at. I only live an hour and a half away so it's not too far for me.

With such short notice, the event can't really be more than a meetup in a London Park in the freezing rain. Wrap up warm, don't forget your waterproofs, and bring a picnic. Hmm. Sounds delightful.

Just to be absolutely clear: TNT isn't going anywhere - these are meetups arranged by other fans, with some materials provided by TNT. Don't get your expectations mixed up. It could end up being 2 or 3 fans meeting up in a bar, it could be a well-organized party in a rented facility. It all comes down to the fans organizing these events (and given that they'll have had no time to plan given this aggressive timeline, they can't be blamed if the events turn out poorly).

I will absolutely be supporting my local event if the information is clear and I have that evening/day free, but I'm not going to put my expectations too high. Hopefully they share more info soon.

@aeallen: I believe I heard one of the organizers for the Ann Arbor one talking about it at the Omelette Faerie release event-- the person was saying it would be at a card/board game shop. The ones I see that best fit the description aren't downtown, so there's good parking. Hopefully this holds true!

Looks like a lot of people kind of touched on some of my concerns? There is one closeish to me (about 2.5hrs) which I'm willing to drive weather permitting as it's already snowing here. However this could be a pizza party at a card store with like 5 people or maybe an actual venue of some sort with maybe 50 or more with catered food and games...? Honestly I have not even the slightest idea what to even begin to expect so I'm kinda torn on whether I should RSVP if it comes up and take the chance or not.

I'm lurking the discord thread for my city's get-together, and from what I've read so far, the capacity will be well under 100 people and there will be no catering services (I guess unless the host elects to use a third-party caterer, but it doesn't sound like it). It really sounds dependent on everyone else pulling weight and contributing, which... Ech. That's never historically worked out at the parties I've been to, especially when everyone is a stranger and can easily just dip out, lol. So I don't think I'll bother attending.
