News and Updates

  • June 8, 2009, 7:11 am NST - Another day of matches is behind us, and the results are in!

A fresh batch of sweeps first. The Darigan Citadel, Lost Desert and Kreludor were able to take complete victories over Mystery Island, Faerieland, and Altador.

Outside of the sweeps, it was a day that saw the new game, Shootout Showdown, really alter the day's standings. Most notably, the Virtupets team was able to win in Shootout Showdown and Make Some Noise against favourites, Krawk Island. The pirates rallied themselves, and managed to even the odds by taking wins in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger.

Shootout Showdown also threw a spanner in the works of the Haunted Woods/Roo Island game. Roo Island, last year's champions, were only able to manage a draw in Shootout Showndown, but this deprived the Haunted Woods from gaining a full sweep despite them winning all the other games of the day.

Terror Mountain once more showed their skills in Shootout Showdown, managing a draw with Shenkuu, however the Shenkuu team managed wins in all of the other games, echoing the Haunted Woods/Roo Island game completely.

Tyrannia faced off against Kiko Lake, resulting in a mix of wins and losses. Tyrannia took the win in their traditional strong points, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, but Kiko Lake were able to gain wins in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown.

Finally, Maraqua and Meridell provided perhaps the most mixed results of the day. Meridell took the win in both Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while Maraqua took the win in Slushie Slinger. The Shootout Showdown match ended in a complete draw between the two teams.

It seems as if a lot of smaller teams are using Shootout Showdown to their advantage to score wins against teams at the top of most predicted standings, make sure to stay tuned to see just what happens next!
  • June 7, 2009, 7:50 pm NST - Continuing the slew of updates to our AC Coverage section, we have gone and replaced just about every AC Record image with newer versions. There are now spaces for Shootout Showdown and the NC Challenge. (In addition, they're much more colourful now. :D) Sorry about the wait!

    Wow, that's...something.

If you were planning on using the extra-wide styles on our forums, you'll be happy to know that the maximum signature width has been boosted to 700px! (Subject to change after the AC ends.)

We have also added new support graphics for Kiko Lake!

Finally, just a reminder that we are also covering the NC Challenge and the page is updated very promptly after midnight. If you want to see how the prizes look on your pets, or some unreleased prizes, there is a topic on the forums about it.

Stay tuned for a special announcement tomorrow. :D
  • June 7, 2009, 8:10 am NST - Day 5's results are in, and the standings are beginning to be defined.

The sweeps: Krawk Island, Shenkuu, and Kreludor all completely defeated their opponents, Maraqua, Roo Island, and Meridell, respectively. Is the winner's curse going to strike again this year? It's starting to look like it could....
As for the other matches, Faerieland managed their first non-loss against Team Altador yesterday. While Altador won all three of the side games, the Yooyuball match was too close to call and ended in a draw.

In an even closer match, Team Haunted Woods defeated Team Lost Desert in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, while the Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger contests ended in a draw.
The Tyrannians played hard against Team Virtupets, pulling out a win in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise. Virtupets, however, shot practice goals all through the night, defeating Tyrannia in Shootout Showdown.

The Darigan Citadel vs. Terror Mountain match ended similarly. The Darigans won Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise, while there was a draw in Shootout Showdown.

In the final match of the day, Team Mystery Island managed a win in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while their opponents, Team Kiko Lake won Shootout Showdown. The Slushie Slinger game was so close that it ended in a draw.

Well, that's the end of the first week of the Fourth Annual Altador Cup!! Congratulations to those teams in the lead, but remember, the finals are completely up in the air for a couple more weeks. To see how your team is doing, head over to our Predicted Scores & Standings page. Your team will be highlighted in blue.

Good luck to all teams today, and play hard!
  • June 6, 2009, 4:10 am NST - The Day 4 results are in - and boy are they interesting!

Maraqua came back on form today by managing a total sweep against their opponents, Altador. Terror Mountain and the Lost Desert were also able to secure sweeps against Faerieland and Roo Island.

Krawk Island faced off against the Darigan Citadel yesterday. It was a draw in both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, and though Krawk Island won Make Some Noise, the Citadel took the win in Shootout Showdown. Whilst this only produces a roundabout draw between the teams, it's certainly a good sign for the Citadel's chances this year.

Kreludor was able to emerge victorious in their matchup with Virtupets, taking a win in all the games aside from Shootout Showdown. The surprisingly strong Virtupets squad was able to claw back a win there and deprive their opponents a sweep.

In Tyrannia and Shenkuu's match, there was a mixed bag of results. Shenkuu took a win in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, but Tyrannia took a win in Make Some Noise and Slushie Slinger.

The situation repeated itself in the Kiko Lake/Meridell match. Yooyuball and Make Some Noise went to Meridell, while Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown went to Kiko Lake. The Kiko Lake squad are certainly making a fight for a decent standing this year!

Finally, the Haunted Woods faced off against Mystery Island. There were draws in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown, and the Haunted Woods took the win in Make Some Noise, giving them the overall win for the day.

Make sure to come back tomorrow for all the latest news!
  • June 5, 2009, 7:10 am NST - Our third day of the Altador Cup is behind us, and here are the results:

First of all, many congratulations to the four teams who managed to completely sweep their opponents--Kreludor, Darigan Citadel, Mystery Island, and Krawk Island. (Their opponents were Faerieland, Kiko Lake, Altador, and Roo Island respectively.
As for the rest of the matches, Team Haunted Woods did not concede a single loss to Maraqua, triumphing in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, while drawing in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger.

In their match against Meridell, Team Lost Desert won every event except Slushie Slinger. Similarly, Tyrannia won every event except Shootout Showdown against Terror Mountain.
And last, but not least, Team Shenkuu defeated Team Virtupets in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while Team Virtupets triumphed in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown.

This is turning out to be a very interesting Cup! With Virtupets tying Shenkuu and Roo Island conceding a sweep, the Fourth Altador Cup is turning out to defy many people's predictions. Congratulations to all winners, and good luck in today's matches. Stay tuned for tomorrow's results!
  • June 4, 2009, 12:18 pm NST - Yes, the feature you all have been waiting for has finally been (re)released for Altador Cup 4? What is it? What is it? What is it?

Well, it's... Michael Scott! the Altador Cup Rank Calculator! Yes, now you can check out what rank you're currently at and see how many more games of Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, Slushie Slinger or Shootout Showdown you need to get to that next rank! (Remember to get as high a score as you can, as our calculator doesn't take into account low scores. :P)

    I'm still a Beginner :(

In other news, we've updated our Altador Cup Scores and Predictions page with the results from last night! (Sorry for the late update, it was my bad :P)
  • June 4, 2009, 7:21 am NST - Another day of fast paced Altador Cup action has come to an end, and as with yesterday there's been some small but significant upsets in the standings.

Firstly, both Mystery Island, Roo Island and Kreludor were able to secure full sweeps over their opponents, Faerieland, Altador and Kiko Lake. Kreludor certainly seems to be shaping as a strong team this year, much stronger than many predicted.

One of the major upsets in today's results was that of the match between Maraqua and Virtupets. The Maraquans were able to secure a win in both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but lost the Shootout Showdown match and only managed a draw in Make Some Noise. Hopefully the Maraquans can rally themselves and return to form in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the Lost Desert - predicted at this cup's eventual winner by many - faced minor problems against Terror Mountain, conceeding a loss in Shootout Showdown, but winning all the other games. It was a similar story in the Meridell/Darigan match, with Darigan taking the win in all but Slushie Slinger, in which the teams drew.

In an interesting turn up for the books, Tyrannia only managed a draw in Slushie Slinger against the Haunted Woods - suprising as Slushie Slinger is normally the Tyrannian's speciality. There was also a draw in Make Some Noise, but the Wood's team was able to take a win in both Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown.

Finally, two of the big contenders this year clashed in the results, Shenkuu and Krawk Island. It was the pirates that took the overall win today, securing a victory in three of the games, and a draw with the Shenkuu ninjas in Slushie Slinger.

This year's cup is proving quite unpredictable so far - stay tuned tomorrow for even more results!
  • June 3, 2009, 6:29 am NST - The first day of the Altador Cup has ended, and there have been many interesting results.

First of all, congratulations to Tyrannia and Shenkuu for sweeping victories over their opponents, Faerieland and Meridell, respectively!

Next, congrats to Kiko Lake, which managed to defeat Maraqua in every event but Shootout Showdown. Looks like a year off from the Cup may have done them some good....

As for the winners of the Third Annual Altador Cup, Roo Island pulled out wins, not surprisingly in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, though they drew with Terror Mountain in Make Some Noise and lost Shootout Showdown altogether. It seems they didn't concentrate too much on this years brand-new game. Will this cost them?
In a surprise upset, Darigan Citadel lost their battle with the Kreludans in both Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. Even in Make Some Noise and Slushie Slinger, the Kreludans were only willing to concede a draw to the Darigans. Congrats to Kreludor for such a surprising upset.

Probably the most highly anticipated results of the day are those of the Krawk Island vs. Haunted Woods battle. In Yooyuball, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, Krawk Islanders battled hard and managed to defeat Team Haunted Woods. Their Slushie Slingers pulled out a draw after a long battle.
The exact same results occurred for the Mystery Island vs. Lost Desert game, with Mystery Island surprisingly defeating the Lost Desert in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and Shootout Showdown, and drawing them in Slushie Slinger.

Finally, congrats to Virtupets, who defeated Altador in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Shootout Showdown. The Make Some Noise contest ended in a draw.

Congratulations to all the winning teams, and good luck to all in today's matchups!
