While it may have appeared like the "Winner's Curse" made Team Altador crash and burn last year, it hasn't quenched the flames in this team's hearts! Captain Foltaggio says, If you can't take the heat, then stay out of the sun! Which they vowed never to do! In fact, the team spent most of this year out on a practice field, even during some of the most record-breaking heat Altador has ever seen! Onlookers who would come to watch them practice, have said at times the team was dripping in sweat and certainly had to have sunburns and yet they never stopped training! That definitely sounds like some burning determination that will be hard to beat this year!

Team Brightvale surprisingly made no comments on the fact that they fell fourth, right below Team Meridell in third. Instead, they seem to want their actions to speak for them as they created an intense and unique training regimen for themselves. King Hagan built a top-of-the-line training centre where the head knights of the castle came and taught the team tactical procedures, some even involving the use of swords against training dummies! It was also rumoured that those dummies, at times, were wearing Meridell jerseys...

On a Highway to Success!

Darigan Citadel left everyone in their shadow as they rose to first place last year! For a moment, their rough exterior seemed to soften as they gave a heartfelt thank you to their fans for being with them as they took home the first-place trophy for the second time! But their kick-butt attitude quickly returned as they swore not to let this make them complacent and that they would continue to ground every competitor into the dirt! Their training throughout the year shows this to be true as they trained in increasingly dangerous ways! Going from running on a field of hot coals to constantly having to dodge razor-sharp pendulums!

There's been quite a lot going on in Faerieland lately, but that hasn't stopped this team from keeping their heads held high and their eyes on the prize! Coming in at 13th place last year, while not ideal, was still something that had their hearts soaring as it showed their steady rise from 16th place the year before! Throughout the year, the team has taken some advice from the Darigan Citadel team and has been trying to show their tough sides by flying right into the middle of storms to practice! The team's goalkeeper, Valtonous Rea, described her favourite part as when they would find themselves in the eye of the storm!

Scream Your Way to the Top!

Have you ever heard of a training haunted house? Neither had we until we talked with the Haunted Wood's team about what they have been up to this past year. Apparently, they have concocted a way to train inside a haunted house, testing their resolve and ability to stay calm under any circumstances! It was indeed so scary that when the interviewer tried going in it, they had to stop not even halfway through! Anyone brave enough to put themselves through a full year of that will most certainly make for tough competitors in this year's game!

Bubbling with Excitement for Another Shot!

Kiko Lake took a big hit last year, dropping from 5th all the way to last place for the very first time. Many were quick to blame their newest member, Lili Lever, but Captain "Poke" Cellers immediately jumped to her defence. Saying that, Lever has been an incredible addition to the team, and whether they win or lose, it is never up to one individual but the team as a whole! They want everyone to know that they have been putting in the work to make this tough loss up to their amazing fans and will continue to fight for that top spot no matter what! This was a promise they seemed to really take seriously, as many witnesses throughout the year saw them running intense resistance drills in the lake alongside what appeared to be a new coach.

It's a Pirate Life or Nothing!

Team Krawk Island hoisted their sails at the end of the tournament last year and said they wouldn't be back for some time! Apparently, for most of this last year, they have been a sail at sea, training and surviving out on the vast open waters! Fishermen and the like would pass their ship from time to time and offer aid and supplies, but they refused, saying that they couldn't even take one piece of assistance as pirates must be able to handle any and all conditions that come their way! Now that they're back, they say they have gotten themselves into shipshape for this year's competition and are ready to plunder their way to first place!

Some fans of Kreludor seemed to have lost the stars in their eyes when their favourite team fell from multiple years in the top 6 down to 10th place last year. However, the team's new right forward, Motor Dahy, in a somewhat rude yet motivational way, lifted their spirits when he told them all to shove their tears where the sun don't shine because Kreludor will be back on top of the world in no time! Some loyal fans were over the moon when they got invited up to Kreludor to watch the team train! The lucky few got to watch safely from inside a private dining area inside the Cafe Kreludor while the team dawned space suits and braced the harsh void of space in no holds barred one-on-one matches between each team member!

Team Lost Desert may have bit the dust by a lot when it came to winning last season, but they have really grit their teeth and worked to improve throughout the coarse of this year. While some teams may have retreated to an oasis to relax and recharge, Lost Desert stayed true to their name, went out, and purposely got lost in the desert! Captain Leera Heggle says he came up with this idea because, for years, they had avoided training in the sand in lieu for solid ground just like the actual competition would be on. He realised his mistake was not accepting the blessing that resistance training in the sand brings! So to make up for lost time, he and his team went out into the desert for most of the year to reconnect with their homeland and the sport they all love!

Captain Elon "The Black Hole" Hughlis has recanted any claims that he "took it easy" last year when it came to training after many said this was the reason the team stayed anchored at 6th place again. When the rest of the team was asked about this, they said they all sink or swim together and that while they didn't win, they are shore everyone on the team worked their hardest! This year to really show their commitment to training, they went to the deepest part of their city, Maraqua Trench! There the sea pressure makes even the slightest movement take an enormous amount of energy! This is an extreme tactic that is sure to pay off for them up on land doing this year's tournament!

While they didn't take home first place last year, they did come in third! But, more importantly, they beat Team Brightvale! This is a team that not only works hard to win but to make their kingdom proud. King Skarl was so pleased to see them standing on the podiums last year that he bought them all new gear, so now not only are they spick and span, but they are extra motivated to rank even higher! With the royal approval and all the love they receive from their fans, they are optimistic they will rise to first place without issue!

Team Moltara came in 12th place last year, and while that may not be something to erupt with joy about for others, fans of Moltara were definitely excited as this is even better than last year! Their flow may be slow, but this team is really starting to heat up! With such hot potential to do even better this year, the players came together to train as hard as possible. They decided they couldn't afford a single slip, so to ensure they wouldn't, they raised the stakes by playing over literal lava! That's right, they created a training field over literal flowing lava for the chance to win this year, so all other teams watch out cause they are for sure coming in hot this year!

Team Mystery Island was feeling fintastic not to have placed as low as the year before but seemed to still be a little salty that they only made it to 8th place last year. Yet, it seems they stayed sunny overall as they were often seen playing volleyball, making smoothies, and relaxing by the ocean. It wasn't all just a fun beach episode for the team, though! Captain Volgoth informed us that while they made sure to have time to recharge, everyone was still on a strict training schedule where they swam laps in the sea and did a practice game at least once a day. He said his goal for this year was to make sure everyone was dedicated to the game, but that they were also making sure to take care of themselves first!

With a hop, skip, and jump, Team Roo Island landed close to the top ten this year but fell short by one. The teams still bounced with happiness at the end as they are slowly progressing back from their lowest ranking two years ago. Despite what some would call their silly uniforms, this colourful team is usually quite strong and respected. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons they are so beloved by so many! To thank their loyal fans, the team paired up with King Roo's top circus performers, Circus Rooleil, to put on a fabulous show for the whole kingdom! The agility, flexibility, and overall fitness one would need to perform such a show will surely be helpful out on the field as well!

Training with Care!

Captain Mirsha Grelinek officially announced that her girlfriend, Ginia, has taken over as head coach for Team Shenkuu this year! Another team scouted their old coach, so Ginia, despite being the old coach's daughter, decided to stay loyal to them and take over the position. The rest of the team says that despite initial concerns, she has really taken charge, and their training has never been better! This year, instead of training away in the mountains like usual, they stayed closer to town, and the support they've had from fans in the area has them working harder than ever! As a result, the team feels confident that they will enter this year's competition with quite an advantage!

An avalanche of missed goals landed Team Terror Mountain close to the bottom last year in 16th place, but they haven't given up yet! They've been having a bit of "a chilly time this year trying to pull themselves out of the snow embankments and back onto the ice rink of life" (Captain Prytariel's words, not ours), but "the sun will shine, and the snow will melt soon!" By this, she seemed to mean that the team is more confident than ever this year due to improving their training. They have added multiple different temperatures to their training, ranging from their normal below-zero training to room temperature to all the way to sweltering heat, and it could change at any time! An interesting choice, to be sure, but will it pay off for this year's games? Only time will tell.

Team Virtupets shot through the stars last year and came in second place! Their one-of-a-kind training really paid off, and throughout this year, they have only improved it! This team has technology like nobody else, and in this up-and-coming world, that's almost better than gold! But that doesn't mean they aren't going to give everything they have to launch themselves to that first-place pedestal this year!
