In a stunning turn of events, Altador finally took their place in the sun by winning 1st place last year! They outshined all the other teams, showing a glaring difference from their past performances. The team says they owe it all to their fans with whom the sun rises and falls! Can Altador keep this flare of energy going for this year's tournament, or will they become victims of the "Winners Curse?"

Team Brightvale was bummed to fall below the top 5 last year with their 8th place spot, but took some pride in placing above Team Meridell. King Hagan even went as far as to send his brother eight chicken legs as a sign of "good faith"; this was not received well, but they were still reported to have been eaten. This year the team claims that they will bring home the cup even if they have to get down and dirty!

Prepared to Bring the Doom and Gloom!

Darigan Citadel has had a steady incline going from 4th place to 3rd last year, and they are determined to skip 2nd and go right on to 1st this year! Their right forward, Tandrak Shaye, said, "I'll crush whoever I have to keep our fans happy!" He then winked, which made the report blush and forget what they were doing.

Faerieland once again came in close to last at 16th place, but that hasn't stopped them from having high hopes for this year! It seems like it should be clear skies ahead for them as they have nowhere to go but up. There have also been rumours of seeing the whole team flying 8,000 feet above sea level together, presumably for high altitude training!

Another One Bites the Dust!

While the Haunted Woods team fought tooth and nail last year, they still couldn't crawl their way out of the dirt and came in 14th place. However, this doesn't mean they've hit a dead end. Team Haunted Woods is picking themselves back up piece by piece and is ready to implement their newest techniques this year! When asked what those techniques were, their captain, Krell Vitor, said he's taking that secret to his grave!

New Catch of the Day!

While Team Kiko Lake wasn't able to reel in another win last year, they're still floating high with 5th place! They weren't just paddling around all year, though. Instead, they've been hard at work training their newest addition Lili Lever who will be taking over Ditan Colb's position of Right Defender! Even though she seemed nervous, Lili Lever says she's ready to make some waves this year!

Getting into Ship-Shape!

Team Krawk Island got a bit of the wind knocked out of their sails last year when they remained anchored at 7th place again, but they're determined not to get tied down! They've set their sights on the horizon and have been sailing all over Neopia in order to train with the best of the best. Their Captain, Garven Hale, has said, "We are ready to go the extra nautical mile if it means taking home that cup!"

Fans were astarnished when Team Kreludor came in 2nd place last year! While the team was happy to make it on the podiums, they couldn't help but feel like they were getting a constellation prize. Many think that the main reason they didn't take the cup was due to their right forward, Zenor Kevix, spacing out when it really mattered. Kevix has stated that while Yooyuball is his universe, he has decided to step down and let the new rising star, Motor Dahy, take his place on the team.

Quicker than Quicksand!

The Lost Desert team showed that they aren't all dried up yet by making it to 4th place last year! This is a real improvement from their previous few performances. But will they be able to keep this up, or will they shrivel under the heat of the pressure? While most fans are excited about the team's sudden improvement, some over-heated adversaries described the Lost Desert's tactics last year as "coarse and rough and irritating and that they were just everywhere!"

Something Fishy This Way Comes!

The Maraqua team seems to be in some hot water as their captain, Elon "The Black Hole" Hughlis, has done nothing but party recently. He believes the coast is clear for them to come and take first place this year, even though the Maraqua team could only keep their head above water long enough to win 6th place last year. The rest of the team says they're keeping this issue at bay, and who knows, maybe this is all just a red herring to make the other teams underestimate them!

A Messy Melee!

With a real hit to their armour, Team Meridell went from 2nd to 10th place last year. King Skarrl[sic] also supposedly threatened to send them all back to the dark ages for coming in behind the Brightvale team! So this year, the team is focusing on staying calm under pressure so that they won't lose their heads. They've even made a decree saying that they will be crowned the winners if it's the last thing they do!

All Fired Up!

Last year, the crowd erupted in applause as Team Moltara finally broke their 6-year record of coming in 17th or 18th place. While still only in 13th place, their fans' hearts still melted from pure joy as it shows their team hasn't burned itself out yet! Many of the fans are hoping that this means the team has gotten past the core of their problems, and will be able to ride the flow of their newfound heat into victory!

In a crushing tidal wave of emotions, the Mystery Island team scored the lowest they ever have in the tournament last year, at 17th place. Many fans blamed the team's new left forward, Tulay Ada, but Captain Volgoth shut that down right away, saying, "No one person is an island! We play as a team, and we lose as a team!" The team has no plans of staying marooned on the bottom for so long, as there has already been talk of a secret tactic up their sleeves!

Not Joking Around!

Even though they only bounced up the board by one place Team Roo Island celebrated their win at 15th place. While some called them fools for doing so, the team remained kind and made sure not to return any rude jesters! King Roo commented that he thinks the team's execution will go better this year as he made sure they wouldn't be juggling too much this time.

A Whole Lot of Altitude

Perched lower than expected in 12th place, the Shenkuu team has a lot to prove this year and is prepared to move mountains to do so! Their techniques are hidden among the mist of their home town though, since they've been training in the fog ever since the last tournament. However, they periodically come out to spend five days among the harsh conditions of the highest mountain tops, perhaps preparing for the Five Day Gauntlets they seem to face so often!

Team Terror Mountain once again slid backwards, landing them in 11th place, but their passion to do better has not been put on ice! Some are saying the team doesn't have a snowball's chance in Moltara of improving. Yet, the players claim that we haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what they are cable of now with their new below zero training!

Learning from Past Mistakes!

The Tyrannia team yanked their way out of the tar pits of 13th place and climbed to 9th last year! The team has been training hard to hunt down the ball and gather intel on other teams. These hunting and gathering skills may just be what's given them the bare bones of a shot at making it out of their rock bottom and all the way to the top!

The stars in Team Virtupets' eyes faded last year as they came in last place for the first time ever. But, instead of being pulled into a black hole of self-pity, the team picked themselves up, brushed the stardust off their knees, and rocketed into an intense training regimen. This year the team says to make sure there's plenty of space for them on the field because they're about to make a cosmic comeback!
