Hannah and the Lost Time Capsules
On November 11, 2019, at 6:00 AM NST, a new event began in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Neopets. Hannah discovered an ancient Bori scroll that gave clues to twenty different time capsules needed for a spell to restore Neopia's molten core. She enlisted Kanrik of the Thieves Guild to help with the mission.
Each day from November 11th to 15th, four capsule clues will be revealed. Each capsule represents a year in Neopets history and will award an exclusive prize.

Dialogue
Below is an archive of the daily dialogue between Hannah and Kanrik:
Hannah: We found it, Kanrik. I told you that scroll wasn't a hoax.
Kanrik: I can't believe you talked me into this. If the guild found out I was helping you, they'd have my head.
Hannah: You said you owed me one... And as far as your head goes: gathering the lost time capsules for a spell that restores Neopia's molten core for twenty years is worth a few disgruntled thieves. Don't you think?
Kanrik: I LIKE my head, Hannah. Let's just get this over with before anyone sees us together.
Hannah: So... that's how it is, huh? Fine.
Kanrik: How does the Crystal work?
Hannah: Roughly translated, the scroll says: "Twenty Lost Time Capsules, one for each year, will unleash the power of the crystal and restore life to Neopia once more."
Kanrik: You actually believe this?
Hannah: I've spoken with the finest seismologists in Moltara. Something's terribly wrong with Neopia's core. Did you bring what I asked?
Kanrik: I had to stowaway aboard a ship and threaten a few pirates but I got it.
Hannah: The clue for the Founder's Capsule location. What's it say?
"Which city lies below,
Has neither rain nor snow,
Desperate repairs it needs to undergo.
Oh. I think you know."
Hannah: Incredible! That old issue of the Neopian times fits perfectly into the slot on the stone table and I saw the crystal flicker.
Kanrik: Whoop-dee-doo... I said that sarcastically in case you didn't notice.
Hannah: Oh I noticed. Even the crystal noticed.
Kanrik: Do you want the next clue or not?
Hannah: See if you can hand it over without over-exciting yourself...
"Up where the Bori were taken,
And the world does glisten,
Where terror isn't forbidden,
And an eternal monster lies hidden."
Hannah: That was fun!
Kanrik: Speak for yourself. Who do you think had to distract the Snowager while you rummaged around for that lousy snowglobe?
Hannah: Oh don't be so dramatic. And this is no ordinary snowglobe. See the next slot is filled.
Kanrik: So what's next? Are we going to get in a bidding war with the Tax Beast?
Hannah: Don't be so glum. Look this clue sounds very cheery...
"For my name first be happy,
Combine it with a small valley,
Keep this synonym for the finale,
And join the breakout gladly."
Hannah: What a find! Err... you've got a little something on your back.
Kanrik: What? AAAH-- Why are these blasted Petpetpets crawling all over my back?!
Hannah: Must've picked them up back in Meridell. They seem to have found a kindred spirit.
Kanrik: What's that supposed to mean?
Hannah: Latching on to a Neopet for their own selfish needs comes naturally to some.
Kanrik: If you're referring to the incident where I... well...
Hannah: ... Left me for dead in the Lost Desert, years ago?
Kanrik: Yes, that. I mean... I think 'dead' is a bit extreme. And I'm here to pay back that debt.
Hannah: I'm not here for that lousy apology. You've fulfilled your end of the deal. Let's see the next clue.
Kanrik: Does that mean I don't have to come back tomorrow?
Hannah: As I said: we're square.
"Can you find this blend?
On an island East of mystery.
Vanished once from history.
Every first makes it at the end."
Hannah: Well, well, well. Look who's back.
Kanrik: There's no need for that smug look. I've found a few more clues.
Hannah: Which one? Oh! I knew you wouldn't forget what happened on this particular year! I JUST KNEW IT!
Kanrik: Which year?
Hannah: The next capsule's clue. The one in your paws. What happened that year?
Kanrik: Err... The Battle of Meridell?
Hannah: Yes, but that's not what I'm thinking of. Some kind of adventure...
Kanrik: NeoQuest II? Fyora Day? Brightvale discovered?
Hannah: It involves both of us...
Kanrik: Of course!... How could I forget such an important moment in my life?
Hannah: I knew you'd remember we--
Kanrik: The Wheel of Knowledge opened!
Hannah: *sigh* I know one Neopet who clearly wasn't worthy of a spin on that wheel. Just show me the clue, Negg-for-brains.
"A Grundo once approached me,
And scanned my wares innocently.
But I was misled,
And the wrong token was fed,
Doom was all that was likely."
Kanrik: Why are you looking at me like that?
Hannah: I'm not looking... Like what?
Kanrik: I'm not sure if you're smiling or about to have a Hissi-fit... heh-heh. You get it? Because Hissis were discovered on this capsule's year.
Hannah: That was terrible, and you explaining it somehow made it worse! More importantly, I'm not looking at you like anything. I'm not even looking at you. I'm just excited to find the next capsule. That's all. Can't you see me smile?!
Kanrik: You're talking to a Gelert who's spent an extended amount of time with Masila; the Queen of fake smiles. You've never been a good liar Hannah so out with it.
Hannah: No. We don't have time for this. We've only got four days to gather all these capsules or our chance to free the Crystal's power will be lost. I have the next clue right here...
"In a land filled with this year's tension,
Where a curse defies convention,
And did I forget to mention?
It lies within a shape that crosses the third dimension."
Kanrik: Treasure hunting in the Lost Desert. Feels like old times. Eh, Hannah?
Hannah: *panting* You... Left me... Again?!
Kanrik: I didn't leave you. I was just checking the coast was clear.
Hannah: Those Mummies were bearing down on me and I saw you run!
Kanrik: Now I remember!... The Hero's capsule was the year we met. It crossed over two years, that's why I was confused.
Hannah: Don't change the subject! You promised me you'd pay me back for leaving me the last time and now you've gone and done it again.
Kanrik: And we're square. You said it yourself.
Hannah: Oh grin all you like--
Kanrik: "Oh grin?" Ogrin? Eh? This next capsule's year?
Hannah: I'm going to read the next clue before I hurl...
"The City's marvels are a boon,
Its stone figures opportune,
Inside; where books lie strewn,
A Lenny could really use a broom!"
Hannah: Well that wasn't so hard.
Kanrik: I was recognized on the way out of the Archives.
Hannah: So what?
Kanrik: Hannah, I've been careful for a reason. If it gets back to the guild that I'm not sharing the spoils with them...
Hannah: Well it serves you right.
Kanrik: Maybe.
Hannah: Come on, Kanrik. They wouldn't really come after you, would they?
Kanrik: Thieves don't care if you steal, even from each other. They care if you hide what you've stolen like some Krawk Island smuggler. It's a sign of weakness.
Hannah: You don't know for sure that you were recognized. Maybe they thought you were someone else?
Kanrik: I hope so.
Hannah: ... Kanrik?
Kanrik: You said we've got to gather all the capsules or our chance to free the Crystal's power will be lost forever. What's the next clue?
"Can you find this cool cat?
Who sees through stars but isn’t a Darblat?
She sells wares that she wears,
And has a scarf but might have trouble wearing a hat?"
Hannah: KANRIK! You're okay!!!
Kanrik: Happy to see me?
Hannah: I... Well, no. I mean... it's alright I guess.
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: So...
Kanrik: So?
Hannah: Did you find the next clue?
Kanrik: OH! Yeah but it wasn't easy. Retracing Dr. Sloth's footsteps shouldn't be taken lightly.
Hannah: Stop showing off.
Kanrik: Fine-fine. Here it is...
"No buses arrive at this station,
Nor does it submit to Neopia's rotation,
Defeat an invasion,
Without navigation,
In a game that disembarks on a deck built for recreation."
Hannah: Seems strange. Why would a figurine of someone so cruel and destructive be a part of something that restores life?
Kanrik: Destructive or not, he was a part of Neopia's past.
Hannah: I don't like it. He gives me the shivers.
Kanrik: Are you telling me you've never had someone dark in your past that's changed who you are today?
Hannah: ...
Hannah: Anyway, where's the next clue?
Kanrik: ... I have it here.
"Among Islands west of Altador's city,
Is one particularly gritty.
In its depths this capsule you'll win,
If you can find the pool that no one swims in."
Hannah: Are you sure YOU don't deserve this trophy?
Kanrik: Thanks but I've got my own.
Hannah: When did you win a Neopie?
Kanrik: I never said I won it.
Hannah: Why do I ask you anything? Just show me the clue.
"Not a land or solid state,
In a time that has no fixed date,
From a strange place this capsule calls,
In an archive that has no walls."
Hannah: A Golden Negg. Fascinating.
Kanrik: Is it?
Hannah: Yes! The Crystal already looks so much brighter.
Kanrik I can't see any change.
Hannah: It's there. I know it is!
Kanrik: ... What if it isn't?
Hannah: What?
Kanrik: Let's just say that none of this is true. The scroll that led us here. The clues. The riddles. They're all just some Bori joke. What then? You would have put yourself in danger time and time again. And for nothing?
Hannah: Kanrik if you're trying to put me down or frighten me, it won't work.
Kanrik: No-no. I'm not. I'm trying to...
Hannah: Yes?
Kanrik: ... Never mind. What's the next clue?
"They say I'm green but I have experience.
I wear a hat but I'm no pirate.
I have a gill but I'm not a Koi.
Who am I?"
Hannah: Back safe!
Kanrik: I think I was followed.
Hannah: By who?
Kanrik: I couldn't see their face. I think I lost them in an Old Battledome arena.
Hannah: I think this may be all in your head, Kanrik.
Kanrik: Why do say that?
Hannah: Well, for one, the Old Battledome arenas don't exist anymore. Second, you've been jumpy from the beginning.
Kanrik: That's not true.
Hannah: Galem Darkhand is standing right behind you.
Kanrik: WHERE?!
Hannah: Point made. Show me the clue...
"To find this capsule,
Ask yourself two questions:
Will you regret going to this island?
Why cough before you pay in this cave?"
Hannah: How could a King go missing?
Kanrik: I don't know. Maybe he went on one of your adventures.
Hannah: Will you stop?
Kanrik: You won't be happy until you find me with a knife in my back.
Hannah: If you acted like half the Neopet I know you are, you'd never be in that kind of situation.
Kanrik: ..."half the"... Who do you think I am, Hannah? I'm a thief. I've stolen more than you can imagine. I conspired against my own mentor to become head of the guild. I'm ruthless and I'll always be that way.
Hannah: I know there's another side to you, Kanrik. No one's that single-minded.
Kanrik: How's this for "single-minded". What's the next clue?
"To you this power I shall bestow
The voice of the capsule's beckon call:
Where tyrants are in name but no tyrants show.
The battleground lies ruined but its relic stands tall"
Kanrik: I have to admit that was... fun.
Hannah: Who are you and what have you done with Kanrik?
Kanrik: Don't tell anyone I said that or I'll have to silence you.
Hannah: *laughs awkwardly* I really hope you're kidding.
Kanrik: *laughs cryptically* I like to leave my jokes open-ended.
Hannah: Well, how about the next clue?
Kanrik: I think now we're playing a dangerous game. It's been days since anyone at the guild saw me. They might ask questions. I should make an appearance
Hannah: Oh don't be a spoil sport. Join me for one more clue.
Kanrik: ... Fine. One more and then I'm done.
"For this capsule, you must comb
A forest where spirits roam,
After all, the Neopocalypse came at a cost.
And left some in a cemetary where games are lost."
Hannah: Are you still not talking to me?
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: Come here. Let me see--
Kanrik: GET OFF! I told you this would happen. That assassin may not have hurt me with that cut, but my days are numbered. I will spend the rest of my short life looking over my shoulder... because of you.
Hannah: Kanrik, I'm sorry. I...
Kanrik: Save it. The poison on that blade gives me about a day left to live. I'd rather not waste it.
Hannah: There's got to be some kind of antidote.
Kanrik: It's a Hissi-Hik poison. The only antidote is "the light of a pure star" whatever that means. The book of poisons doesn't exactly give clear instructions.
Hannah: I... I see.
Kanrik: ... Well?
Hannah: "Well", what?
Kanrik: Are you gonna hunt that last clue or not?
Hannah: Oh right. Yes, I... I guess I should.
"It rewards where generosity bestows.
The plant bears no fruit but smiles as it grows.
It's among neither birches nor willows,
But lives between petpets and rainbows."
Hannah: Kanrik? You're still here?
Kanrik: *Coughs* Where else would I go?
Hannah: Maybe you have some old friends or family?
Kanrik: My family is the guild... and they're not the kinds of Neopets you want to spend your last hours with.
Hannah: I had no luck finding anything on "the light of a pure star"
Kanrik: Well, the least you could do is gather the rest of the capsules. Might at least give my death some meaning. "The thief who restored Neopia's core!" That'd look nice on a gravestone, don't you think?
Hannah: I thought you didn't believe in it.
Kanrik: I'll take anything right now.
Hannah: I have the next clue...
"Do you remember who loves competing?
He'd wonder, why you aren't playing,
In a place where a guard keep saying:
"Yo! Don't wake the king."
Hannah: How are you feeling?
Kanrik: ... A little weak. My ears feel like they're on fire. It's really hard to stay awake.
Hannah: Try standing up and spelling out your name. That always works for me.
Kanrik: K, A, N... This is stupid!
Hannah: See. It works.
Kanrik: Three more clues left, Hannah. Don't waste your breath talking to me.
Hannah: Right. I just want to say something first.
Kanrik: *Hard cough* Might wanna make it quick.
Hannah: When I asked you to help me gather these capsules, I... Well... I didn't do it because I thought you were trustworthy or particularly good at finding things.
Kanrik: Well that's reassuring. *Violent cough*
Hannah: No. What I mean is... I wanted you to help me because we're... friends.
Kanrik: Please don't make me laugh, Hannah. I don't think my throat can take it.
Hannah: Alright. Stay your old self until the end. But I mean it. You never owed me anything, Kanrik.
Kanrik: Go on with your clue, Hannah.
"This riddle could've been cleaner,
If you'll pardon my cryptic demeanor.
Though this land does have a harbour,
You'll find it only in its Battledome arena."
Hannah: Stay with me, Kanrik.
Kanrik: I... think the poison is making me delirious.
Hannah: Just breathe...
Kanrik: I can read words on the crystal.
Hannah: There aren't any words on the crystal. You're seeing things.
Kanrik: It says it's a "pure star". It's calling to me. Maybe if you unleash its power, it will--
Hannah: Snap out of it!
Kanrik: That crystal IS the pure star's light. You believe me, don't you Hannah? You believe everything else.
Hannah: It doesn't matter what I believe. More likely the poison wasn't enough. Your body is rejecting it and you're getting better.
Kanrik: No poisons get to this stage if they're fading. That clue. Forget about me and go get that capsule!
Hannah: I... Okay...
"Potions, potions everywhere but this one's not for drinking,
In a land where the following needs linking:
First, the farthest from dark could use some thinking.
Then add Nabile's mask that does no covering."
Kanrik: K... A... N--
Hannah: You can do it.
Kanrik: What was in that last capsule?
Hannah: Wraith's breath.
Kanrik: Another poison. Figures.
Hannah: Spell the rest of your name to me. You've got to try.
Kanrik: K, A... You know all that talking you did before. It made me realize that I've never had friends.
Hannah: That's not true.
Kanrik: Oh I've shared a joke with another thief and been chummy with another Neopet every so often. But never someone I could really rely on. No one... except you.
Hannah: Best of friends. Now stop talking like that. You're going to make it through this. You're at "N".
Kanrik: N... R... I... I'm not gonna make it, Hannah.
Hannah: Yes you are. "K"! Come on. Say it.
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: Kanrik?
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: No... Kanrik!
Kanrik ...
Hannah: Not now *cries*
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: *sniffs* No. You're not gone yet, Kanrik. Not while your heart's still beating. One more clue. You weren't deluded. The crystal... Maybe... Anything...
"In a land that's crashed yet unbroken,
Where functions can be names spoken,
Still, an outwardly nameless yet named hiding spot was chosen,
It certainly isn't out in the open."
Hannah: It worked, Kanrik.
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: You're tired. That's fine.
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: Or you're gonna jump out at me. Surprise! Hannah, I'm alright."
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: I... I'm sorry, Kanrik. You'll always be such a big part of my life. Shadowy past or not. I wouldn't have traded it for Neopia.
Kanrik: ...
Hannah: ....
Kanrik: ... K.
