Why do they keep adding the same prizes to multiple prize pools and the warehouse these past 12 months? It is ridiculous.

The faerie pppb is very likely due to them bringing back faerie UCs soon so they want to have posible clients prepared.

Faerie PPPB is already in the new daily pool. Did they even cross-check the new prize pool? Regarding the AMA itself, it is disappointing as usual. No acknowledgement about the multiple issues with AC this year. No word about the petition on deluxe that has been going on for a month. Regarding the freezing, this statement is absolutely disingenuous: "TNT is looking into claims of wrongfully frozen accounts, reviewing both policy and evidence in those cases". No, TNT did not look into these wrongfully frozen accounts. They consistently refused to help until the unfortunate players brought the matter to social media.

Need a survey to gather feedback on the AC or else heard from the same 100 complainers that are never happy.

So they're thinking of doing away with the Altador Cup... the biggest event on site that brings in players that don't log in normally... okay. That seems smart. Glad they acknowledged the freezings but based on what you see in the PC, they absolutely are not looking into wrongful freezings. It's very concerning, and I get that they have to be political in their replies but c'mon....
Thanks for the faerie pppb though I guess.

OMG, I would love it if they totally scrapped the Altador Cup. It's been terrible since forever. At the very least, make it an every 4 year thing, kinda like the World Cup.

TBH I personally think the Altador Cup, as it is, is kind of insane and the only prize anybody wins from it is carpal tunnel. It's a big event, but it's also largely just not fun in terms of participation, only banter between teams. If they just made it more.....actually fun, that would probably be better for our sanity and our wrists, especially if they could stop making it reliant on bad captchas.

Really glad they acknowledged the false freezings.
And really, really hoping they actually address it.
It's abhorrent that innocents are losing everything.
I feel so bad for players caught up in bad chains.

@dehoot - absolutely not, on main account only. TNT's infographic even includes "strictly one redemption pre [sic] player" ("pre" meaning "per", typical TNT typo...)

maybe if they added a volunteer portion to the Altador Cup like they're doing with the Void Within -- your pet volunteers to give directions at the Colosseum or mop up spilled slushies and you earn points without wrist problems.

Ngl I was surprised they even mentioned the freezings at all. Guess they read that people were planning on mass-cancelling their Premium if they didn't. Still not quite the answer we were looking for, though.
I really don't get why they can't share the *evidence* with the user. They just get this "you know what you did" kind of reply even when they really, genuinely don't. Honestly, if my account got frozen for something I didn't do? After having been a loyal Premium member for almost 2 decades and all the NC I've bought and they'd just take that from me without telling me why or showing me evidence (that they can't possibly have if you're innocent)? I'd sue them.

I would not be at all upset if they got rid of Altador Cup, but only if it was replaced with something. I always found Daily Dare to be WAY more fun. I'd much rather we had that again - and the converted Altador Cup games could be repurposed for that.

I do like the ideas for the AC I'm seeing in these comments. This was the first year I really put some effort into the AC and I didn't find playing a game repeatedly very fun or engaging. I can see why I never put much effort in when I played Neopets more casually.

I was really looking forward to actually participating in the games this year but even after turning off my adblock, it just wouldn't load on firefox at all. Guess it's smart to get rid of it if they don't have the means to run it properly (and they def don't), but I wanted access to that prize shop one day 🤷♀️
tsadadey,
September 5, 2024 7:59 AM NST
Honestly, I wouldn't miss the AC if they scrapped it completely. There's no way to make playing the same games hundreds of times a day for an entire month fun. I do like the idea about volunteering to earn some points.
coryldork,
September 5, 2024 8:09 AM NST
The worst parts about Altador Cup are 1) playing thousands of the same four games for a month; 2) prize shop not reflecting actual efforts, frequently requiring double all-star to get the top prize or even more than 2-3 high value prizes.
The prize shop values really need to more clearly link up to the actual efforts, but the actual efforts are absolutely insane. This year, I got to All-Star in a couple of days and stopped because the prize shop was awful. A Daily Dare format would be awesome, but they could also shorten it to reduce the grind too.
But anyway, I don't know where to send in the feedback for this because it's not often that I feel heard by TNT.

If TNT want some ideas to revamp the Altador Cup, I've got too many. I just don't like posting them on the Neoboards so I don't know how they (or Ambassadors) are supposed to see them? Anyway, they could...
- Have Pets 'watch matches'. Recycle the Volunteering component from TVW and instead have users collect a certain amount of points (maybe a prize pool too) for having Pets attend matches. I've always thought Yooyuball was like (UK) football, so maybe have the period be ninety minutes or so?
- Have Pets 'meet' the Players in your team and wish them luck. Probably wouldn't give out many points but each team has five players and the Cup does go on for a while so you could make it a daily or something.
- Have Pets 'attend' Yooyuball training camps ran by retired players or members of the team that you've joined. Slightly trickier to do depending on the format but you could recycle the Volunteering component again (so points/maybe prize pool). Maybe have goalkeeper, defender and forward classes?
- Charity Drive. Reuse the Charity Corner mechanic and have teams collect items or even Neopoints (we need more Neopoint sinks!) for good causes/prize shop points. Community work in (UK) football can be a big deal. Maybe most charitable team wins an award?
- Player of the Tournament votes. Given the popularity of Darigan Citadel we'd probably just end up with a Citadel XI but you could limit it to one vote per position (goalkeeper/defender/forward) or just one vote overall. More of a fun thing than a prize shop points thing.
- Test features on Firefox. (I mean maybe they do but it feels like they just test on Chrome.) The only game I got to load this year was Slushie Slinger - once. Long enough to get to Rank One. That was it.
- Have Altador Cup 20! Even if it's broken, even if it is the last one... stopping on 19 just feels wrong.
... I have more but these seem the most achievable, I guess.

I do agree with the sentiment that the Altador Cup should be more akin to the Daily Dare.
I always thought it should be emulated off of the Olympics more so then the World Cup. TNT selects a number of games (way more than 4), we select which team to support, the high scores for that month win "medals" for their teams, teams with the "most" medals win the snazzier looking trophies.
And also offer alternative challenges in the form of "achievements" to keep players engaged in playing the games rather than just having to aim for the high score.

I don't really *mind* the AC in its current format actually. At least you know what is required of you on a day-to-day basis. However, they must fix the games so that they work again, they must all properly reflect the right artwork and such (Tyrannia is orange, not green..) and they should add a manual override for the Captcha, in case it fails its automatic test. And, naturally, bring it back to an equal number of teams.
Beside that, I wouldn't actually want them to fundementally change the Altador Cup. It's fine as it is, really.

It makes 0 sense to to a purge without adding more pet slots. People who have max slots will miss out. As for the AC it *really* needs to be less grindy. I skipped it completely this year because the plot was overlapping it. The prize shop was barely worth it for the work this year looking at it.

I think the AC should only count your highest score of the day for each game. So it becomes more skill based and less "who has more free time to waste" based.
People who don't have much time or interest could try their best a couple of times, people who have a lot of time could try getting an ultra high score until they're tired.

@biediep - They don't share the reason for freezing because unscrupulous players would know how they determined the infraction and find new ways of evading detection. I know it's frustrating but it's not malice (or incompetence). It's kind of standard for a lot of games to give canned responses on freezes and bans for this reason.
morganjoisle,

If they get rid of the AC, I'm out for good. It's the one festive event that actually feels like old Neo outside of the Advent Calendar. Why is Dom trying to ruin some of the only sitewide events left? We already lost Daily Dare, Charity Corner, a (good) Faerie Festival... god forbid they leave us with anything to do other than click, click, and click some more, every day, for that ad revenue.. this guy is delusional and only focusing on short-term profits instead of site longevity. bad quality for a ceo imho

I agree with @gumdrops - the AC should only be once every 4 years. Either that or it should be dramatically scaled back. I like @mornaistare's idea of only submitting one score per day, and those with more time on their hands would have more time to try for a higher score, but ultimately everyone would be contributing a similar amount.
At the risk of raising ire from some people, I feel that in games, freezings or bans are almost never completely unfounded or accidental. Many times in games I've watched people who committed infractions that I've seen with my own two eyes vehemently insist they were unfairly frozen/banned. It happens all the time. It's actually pretty rare for someone to take a freezing or ban in stride, accept their situation and admit their wrongdoing. The standard, common reaction is to claim innocence.
Everyone will have a different opinion on whether these freezings are *fair*, but they're almost never *unfounded*. They broke a rule of some kind, and maybe that rule was applied too strictly or the rule itself might warrant re-thinking, but a rule was broken.
And in all the games I've played, I've never once seen a team be totally transparent about the process, or exactly which rule was violated or how it was discovered. It would be madness for them to do so. They'd be essentially training people to better evade detection, they'd be training them about which rules are more difficult to enforce, etc. They just can't do that.

I used to love DD and GMC too. But, some games are too hard on modern hardware now.
Like, I have a high score of 13k+ in Sutek's Tomb. I can't get past 3k anymore. And look how fast Freaky Factory moves. It's like warp speed.

I was sort of pleasantly surprised they're even considering getting rid of the AC. I've personally never enjoyed it, it's been a mess for years, lots of controversy around the scorings, complaints about the prize shop, bugs, takes too much time and too much wrist injuries. I know some die-hards and other fans will be upset, but I agree with Dom, it's a tedious, not very fun event. I'd much rather have them put the resources for the AC into Daily Dare, Charity Corner, Faerie Festival, Advent Calendar, Plot, what have you. It makes sense to have the AC once every four years as a treat to those who like it, and then it STILL needs to become more fun and less work.
Re: neolodgeism, In one of the other games I play my account got flagged as a cheater due to saving up too much playing energy. Which was possible because the game gave out free energy packs you could stack. There was no rule against that, no transparency about a certain flagging threshold, it is completely legitimate play. Which their support checked, admitted and acknowledged as a problem, but they can't undo the flag. Ever. They say they made a note on my account that I am confirmed to be a legitimate player, but that's all I can do. It doesn't stop me from playing but it does mean that whenever there is a PvP event, I will be grouped with other flagged accounts, which means I'm often playing against actual cheaters, which means I can't win.
So yeah, it really happens that you can get unfairly flagged, they even admit to it but it still won't change a thing. The saying where there is smoke there is fire isn't ALWAYS true.

I would absolutely love a return of Daily Dare. Of course, they'll have to be careful with their choice of games and they'll have to rebalance the scores accordingly with the faster computers making games move faster. I can't Turmac Roll this fast without losing control.

@woodstocki Which is why I said "almost never" instead of "never". And it sounds like you were flagged, not banned or frozen. Big, dramatic, account-ending actions that don't get reversed even after multiple appeals... there's likely some fire there.

i think they need to figure out a way of rebalancing the AC - it used to be that they weighed it so that little teams had a chance against big teams but theyve overcorrected to the point where a team like DC or FL has no chance of doing well - they used to be able to outplay the large team penalty by having insane diehards who would play 300+ YYB games per day but the maxes are so low now that big teams essentially have no way to make up for that penalty. theyre doomed from day one.

they wont do a daily dare or a gmc until they made sure the games actually on ruffle. some days the games work, some days they wont. its random as heck. i would like for them to bring back one of the events but id rather them wait until the games can be played more consistently. look at smelt...it functions but u cant see where ur dragging the part until u click on the metal sheet. so its no good being used in a games chakllenge until that gets fixed...somehow...

now for the ac...i agree with logical in terms of having different ways to do the altador cup. i still feel like we need some more actual engagement with the cup. yooyu balls a good start. but we don't need 3 other mini games as well.
1. yooyu ball
2. sending the pets to do something ac related is a good idea
3. maybe be able to vote on any player from any team.*
so, lets say they give u the option to vote on any in game (lore) player thats currently attending that years ac. u could be a fan of maraqua but lets say u like a character from meridell. u could vote for that character. itll be like the star player in the tnt tourny. u could do it daily, weekly, watever. each time they announce who the star player is, everybody gets some neopoints/shop points. maybe a little of both. however, if u picked a meridell character as a star player and u chose meridell, ull get a little more neopoints/shop points/both than others who voted for said character. maybe itll be a thing where u have a choice of picking captains only one time, defenders another time, etc. so theres a pool of players and not luterally every character under the sun. idk, trhis popped into my head out of the blue.

I LOVE THESE IDEAS! I agree that honestly, the whole "grinding on the same 4 games" is no fun - and i only did like...2 games of SOSD because I hate how it got revamped from the other version. The AC to me is a bore anyway, and i just don't care for it.
I like the thought of still maybe being able to join a team, and you can donate things like food, drinks, health products to the players (kinda think "like hey, they're so busy playing, let's deliver them stuff to continue without risking their lives"). Plus y'know...Then Kiko Lake could actually have some willing donors vs the event where they just take an item against your will, LOL.
I can see the amounts donated to each team helping them "win", basically. Maybe even donating things like gross foods could "hurt" them due to pets basically not liking them (unless they're Food Club eaters) and that could damage their points / chances of winning a game. Maybe it could even be turned to the "hurt or heal" forum game that happens with each AC, and you can literally "hurt or heal" a team, even while on your own - so you can heal your team, hurt another? Idk, I'm not keen on these things. It's more interactive, if anything, and there are still items that are practically useless for most, so maybe? Maybe you could even get a random message from time to time saying "hey, (team member) requires some assistance. Do you have (item type) we can give?", and it can earn bonus points? This would be random though, and maybe not triggered by a refresh (so you have to be leaving from one page to this one in order for it to possibly show) but idk if it can be coded like that.
Tbh, I was more focused on Void stuff to even check in on the AC. Go figure, I only was able to partial participate in the Staff Tourney, and I was able to gather some stuff from the prize shop (which is the norm for me as I never have the stamina or patience for All Star in the main game).

Tbh, while I saw the freezings being mentioned, I wish something could've been done about sudden BC removals as well...
Basically, entries that were fine prior would be booted mid week, some at the very last hour of the round, and of course, all we would get would be automated responses (none of which would be true). At the same time, AI and stolen works, as well as spammers, remain in all week and place - a lot of them actually besting legitimate artists who obeyed the rules. :/
A lot of removed entries were also designs that won trophies before. It's almost like someone is reporting and wants the contest to become another Art Gallery, where you can only enter generic Neos and nothing else (however, I cannot truly say; It's just harder to see it as anything but when pre-rollover bootings aren't as common anymore). As someone who does work best with off-model designs, it's pretty frightening to think of the future of designs that went through for weeks completely fine, before being booted after long hours of advertising...
Honestly, it's hard to tell sometimes if it's also a salty user or if KC just noticed "ah, yeah, that shouldn't be there". Sending a ticket can get you help with making an entry BC-able, but let's be real: It's best to know WHY you were removed for more than "there were reports amongst members and staff".
I would love to know if, for example, someone had it out for me, or if it was a genuine mistake by the judge that an entry wasn't supposed to be there.
How many reports where there? You say "multiple" but does that mean 2 or 20? Did the accounts have similar usernames? That's liable to be the same user! So many questions, but so little that can be said, because like with the PC, "they can't show proof".
And again, AI and stolen works have lasted, another entry that wasn't even an a pet at all (it was an object, so not even representing its species - even if it was invisible) also won gold. Soooo...I don't get it?
