Faerie Festival Delayed to October 2nd

Sad day, Neopians! Via posts on social media and the Portal News page, TNT have announced that this year's Faerie Festival has been pushed back to October 2nd due to bad weather coming from Mystery Island.

Faerie Festival Delayed to October 2nd
Greetings, fellow Neopians,
We know you've all been eagerly looking forward to this year’s Faerie Festival, but here's the scoop—we've had to shuffle our plans a bit.
Although Queen Fyora was excited to unveil a new and improved Faerie Festival event this year on September 20th, forecasts of a particularly severe storm blowing in from Mystery Island have caused the Faerie Queen to delay the event. Since the storm is setting records for unusually high winds, the Festival has been rescheduled to October 2nd for the safety of attending Neopians.
While the delay is disappointing for all involved, a little extra time before the festival means that Queen Fyora and her team have even more time to work their magic. Rest assured, when October 2nd arrives Neopians will be treated to a celebration like no other.

I'm wondering if TNT is playing the long game that this will involve the plot, or is this (more likely) poor communication on how they're unprepared to run things on the back-end. I'm glad they're not just releasing unprepared product, but I wish they'd be more open with the EXACT reason it's delayed and not just some in-universe cover-up.

I'd rather have a delayed event without bugs than an on-time event that's broken. I like how they announced it with some Neopian flair.
I'm not a programmer or developer, so me knowing the reason has no bearing on my life. It could be for any number of things: they're not happy with the current product, maybe some artwork isn't done, maybe the code isn't running smoothly, maybe they just didn't have enough time. My scrutiny as a user (for a free-to-play game!!) is better placed on giving feedback of the actual event instead of demanding that a product be delivered on time.
In any case, I'd rather it work when it comes late instead of them trying to fix things during the event or after the fact. I was quite surprised they announced an event coming so quickly in the first place!

Given the nature of the site and the years and years of additions to the code by different teams, I'm impressed they've been able to fix even as much as they have. Can't blame them for something being harder to add on to it than they expected.

The date of the image in the portal news post is 9/16 so they've known about this. Disappointing that it's delayed and that they waited until today to announce it. I stayed up late in case of midnight launch, could have used that extra sleep back...

Yeah, put the stuff about the storm in New Features, be honest in the press release. I'd buy that they were trying not to delay it until they realized a delay was unavoidable at last minute, but they probably should have admitted they weren't able to meet their deadline earlier, not only to us but to themselves.

@1jediboy In previous years they would have done something like this even if it was just for a delay, but I don't see that happening now if the modern team really is stretched as thin as it sounds like.

Whew! I am in the middle of opening not one but two shows right now and really busy, so I am disappointed, but actually relieved. I know I am in the minority here but oh well.
I do hope it starts soon and it goes well when it happens! (And I hope this iis NOT like jediboy said above, part of the Event!!)

Maybe they will have all of the constant "Bad Gateway" and "502 Timeout" (or something like that) pages and such taken care of by then too, those are really getting annoying and make being on the site very difficult to do much!

I mean, it sucks, but at least they said something about it?? And as stated earlier, I'd rather have a delayed event with no bugs than one that's rushed to meet a deadline but has bugs. The only disappointment is that they seemingly knew about this ahead of time and didn't say anything until now.
Some of the users on here either need to touch grass or consider therapy. Delaying an event shouldn't cause people to be so bent out of shape. It's not that big of a deal.

The numbers in the filename isn't a date, it's a filesize ratio.

I actually agree with @1jediboy, I'm thinking the festival being delayed by a storm from Mystery Island could be part of the event and that's why the two faeries will be looking for items to try and fix it, but we will have to wait and see....

Honestly, while I am disappointed, it gives us all almost an additional 2 weeks to hoard. Dailies, Igloo, General Store, Springs, etc. The faerie is HEALING every time (because of festival) so no bonus items from her. Useful for battling and sick pets tho!

As someone who gets delays affecting income because of new stuff and coding (like something that was suppose to happen in Oct cannot be done until Jan beacuse it was tricky and they prioritised something more important) , this isn't really bothering me, hahaha.
Not to mention as Nintendo fan I am more than used to this XD

Not sure why they combined Two events into one ? Better to have a fairy quest event, then a charity corner event. I'm afraid this will not turn out well as everybody has such high hopes. Please prove me wrong TnT.

I don't care one way or another when the event starts, I'm content to wait as long as it takes for them to get everything squared away and working smoothly!
Honestly, the longer I have to hoard items the better, so I'm actually a bit happy about this! But at the end of the day, I'm mostly neutral, it will happen when it happens, and I will enjoy it when it gets here.
If they are having issues, I would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather they delay the event as long as they need to to fix it rather than rush it and have things not work right!!!
However, just one small gripe. If they *really* want to be transparent the way they *say* they will be, they should be honest if they're having issues!!!
The in-world explanation is cute, I have no problem with it. IF they would have also made an announcement somewhere saying they're having technical difficulties and need more time to iron things out or whatever!!
I really wish they would do that.
But, I'm still pretty content with this. ::shrugs::

I'm confused by the comments. They didn't cancel the event. It was just delayed by 2 weeks... That is not a big deal in the slightest... The site switched owners not that long ago, and knowing the old owners, the event probably had to be built from scratch and they've had higher priority things to do. Whenever a video game is released a buggy mess, people always say that they should've delayed it until it was presentable. A game does that, and now they're lambasted for not releasing when announced. 🫤

People in these comments are um... wow. It's an 'event' of an ancient browser game (which is basically just a dress up game now) that just switched owners months ago. Plus this is an event that usually lasts multiple days on top of it. If your life is so bothered by this you really probably perhaps should think about stepping away for a bit, like... legitimately. Its fine to be disappointed but some people are actually concerning. Maybe make your own jpeg of the static picture of a trophy you're trying to get or something. Personally I'm utterly neutral on this delay. I do wish they were more transparent but, well, I think they basically said all that needed to be said in that. "queen fyora and the team extra time to work some magic" like its a silly in game way to say it but that clearly states 'we need more time'

If it's delayed to October they must have known it simply would not be ready in time even before the day of, so it just feels weird to give a date for this, then delay it, yet not really explain why at all, at least not why in the real world.
I'm not gonna quit or submit a complaint or something but still, I'd prefer transparency early to a quick excuse made up last minute.

i don't care about a delay, but i am not loving the return to babytalk announcements like this. weren't they just insisting they'd be more transparent? transparency would be "we don't have the art assets ready because the artists have a backlog" or "the coding is taking longer than we thought because of xyz" or "we had to lay everyone off and the two employees left don't have time for this in between putting out all the fires"

I get being disappointed by the delay if you were looking forward to it but I'm baffled by people literally losing sleep. Events have a day-and-a-half Day One and I can't imagine the Faerie Festival is so intensive (or exciting, frankly) that you had to be there at rope drop.
