Altador Cup Update

TNT has posted a lengthy update about this year's Altador Cup in the news—and sadly, Team Dacardia won't be joining the fray this year. On the bright side, if you were ever shadowbanned in past Cups, you're getting a fresh start.

Hi Neopians! It's almost time for one of our favourite events of the year: The Altador Cup!

We wanted to take some time to clear up a few things in order to make this year's Altador Cup the best one yet!

1) Unfortunately, the Dacardia team is too preoccupied helping their community rebuild and has decided to focus their efforts on the restoration of Dacardia instead of joining in the Altador Cup this year. So, we will be sticking to the normal 18 teams for Altador Cup XVIII. You can, however, find team Dacardia gear in the NC Mall if you still want to support!

2) All users will be getting a fresh start in the games this year. We are working on taking measures to keep this event as fair as possible. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

3) If you have any questions regarding this year's Altador Cup, feel free to submit a ticket here.

NOTE: Please categorize your ticket as "Altador Cup" to ensure the most timely response!

I mean, it doesn't say that the shadowbanning has been stopped - so anyone that played in a way to be added to the list could easily be added to it again this year. Just that they are not on it by default.

So unhelpful and uninformative, as ever.

If they could just guarantee that legit players won't have their point stripped, that would be great. I'm not 12 anymore. Investing 3+ hours per day to get All-Star in your 30s with full family and career obligations is an uneasy task.

The 'fresh start' statement is weasel words. It might equally well translate as: New Year, New Cup, .... and don't you go worrying your silly little heads about those shadowbans we gave you. Scores don't matter because we'll just fudge the results at the end anyway. Don't forget to spend all your Neocash at the NC Mall, guys.

I just want to get All Star so I don't break my long running streak and get any album items in the prize shop. Last year was beyond horrendous with shadow bans no one new how worked, scores not counting and captcha errors and TNT said it only affected a minority, awful lot of boards full of players with the same issues, but since it wasn't everyone they weren't going to waste time on fixing it for us! Some times if you waited a few hours you could play a handful more games but then same thing. It made me hate the cup! I can only hope this means this year will be better and getting All Star doesn't cause me almost daily meltdowns, I have a schedule I like to keep to get All Star without burning myself out and getting everything else in life done I need ^^;

Does it even say that last years shadow bans have been lifted? NO!! We are all just assuming that "fresh start" means that. I know, it SOUNDS like that's what it means, but can we be 100% sure? NO! Cuz TNT has no respect and cares not a drop for the players, they just give us PR, weasel words, double talk, politician speak, then leave before we can ask questions.

Even if they are lifted by this "fresh start" people will just get unfairly shadow banned again. They say they want to make it "more fair" but what does that mean? No concrete evidence to support the idea that this years cup will be fair.

Just treat the players like mushrooms!

It would be nice if all the people frozen for playing SOSD or MSN while SLSL geared up, like the Neopian Times said many times i fine, were thawed. I lost friends from that. Pfft, if I weren't too clumsy to play 2, I'd have been frozen FOR WHAT WAS OFFICIALLY RECOMMENDED.

I'd be pleased to be shadowbanned. My team has that many 3-a-day and Rank 1 duffers!
